I want to have some male friends, not for companionship, or romance, just a friend. Is there such a thing? Or am I just naive? Gosh, I miss my husband and watching football games with him!

Go to places you like going that way you have a better chance of meeting someone with the same interests. You may have to be the one to strike up the conversation, but the main thing is get yourself out there so you can meet new friends.

I have tons of guy friends, I just get on better with guys, I'm too blunt for women. Go to places like BW3's or Logan's that have the NFL network on thurs nights. You'll find a lot of guys there watching games they can't get at home. One word of advice make sure you are very upfront that you just want to be friends. Guys just don't normally think that way & don't get subtlety at all. Also the work place is a nice place to make friends too. You could meet nice guys at church too.

Yeah, I get along better with guys too, but I'm really trying to reach out to other woman, hence my joining 4WT. :)
If your church has a social group, that's a good place, or - I agree with Janet.
I think Janet gave a great idea... go to things that interest you so you meet people with similar interests. Male or female that will make it more fun for you.

I think that you've been given several good ideas. I hope that one of them works for you. I definitely agree that you should meet men who have similiar interests.

I tend to get along better with guys too. No offense, but girls just seem to be too clingy for me. Like, I am perfectly capable, and willing, and actually more comfortable with going potty all by myself (still trying to convince my dog that I am okay in there though!) I'm really quite a loner, and perfectly happy with it.
But, I really do enjoy my guy friends. I am still kinda new where I live, but have met a lot of people at work. My best friends here are two gay guys, and I love them to pieces! They are so fun to be around, you can tell them pretty much anything that you tell a fellow chick, and they don't get super clingy, or butt hurt when you don't invite them somewhere or call them, and you don't ever have to worry about getting drunk and waking up in a predicament with them! Knowing them has really broadened my perspective too!

Is there a local hiking club near you, or a dog park?

the best way I can think of to meet men is to buy one of those huge TV's, top of the line. Stock up on beer and pizza and let the word out!!!

I'm not sure if there is a magic way to make friends with a man. I just try to be myself.

Since you say you miss watching football, I would recommend local sports like high school football games etc. There are always friends of friends too. Do you have any males in your family? Get yourself invited somewhere (this can always be accomplished at the offering of cooking a meal) and mingle.
Since you say you find it easier to connect with men over women, it should be a piece of cake! Just be sarcastic, witty and leave the girl talk & emotion out of conversation ;)
