I feel so terrible. Today should be my first day back at work after my holiday. I think from the second I stepped off the plane Friday night in Edmonton, I had a cold. My head was stuffed up and it's been that way ever since. Saturday when I got back here, I went for supper with Kyle and fell asleep at his friend's house by 9:00, while the tv was blaring with ufc fights and the room was full of shouting men. Today I had planned on getting some grocery shopping and laundry done, but I ended up coming home, having a shower, putting on sweats and sitting on the couch all day. My eyes were so blurry by 4 this afternoon, I had to take out my contacts. I got into bed at 11 and read until 12. I tried to sleep but I was soooo hottttttt, and I was so stuffed up I couldn't breathe. At 1 I got a frozen water bottle that had been thawing in the fridge. I drank some and rolled the cold bottle all over my body to cool off. Still couldn't stop sweating. By 3, I was alternating between shivering and sweating. I took some tylenol, hoping it would calm my fever and knock me out. It's time for me to start getting ready for work, and I'm still hot, and I still haven't slept for one second. I just emailed our receptionist saying I won't be in this morning but I'll try for the afternoon. I don't know what I can do to fall asleep. I can't remember the last time I had a fever at all.

It sounds like you might have the flu. I wouldn't worry about going into work if you're not feeling well. The other workers won't appreciate being exposed to it if you do go to work. Just stay home and take care of yourself. Don't try to go back to work until your fever is down.

I took a couple more tylenol after I posted that, and I fell asleep maybe 10 minutes later. I just woke up, and if I'd like to make it to work for the afternoon I'd have to be ready in half an hour. I think I'm feeling a little better, but I'm still really really sleepy. I think I might as well just stay home for the afternoon. I just feel really guilty about not being at work. I know (from emails the receptionist sent me while I was on vacation) that none of the stuff I left for my supervisor, with important deadlines last week, got done. In fact, they probably aren't even started. He spent every day throwing tantrums about how hard everything was and how "sick" he was all week so he couldn't do any work. I wish I didn't have to worry so much about work when I'm not there.

Hope you're feeling better Lindsay. I had the flu Saturday and Sunday really bad, but by this morning I'm doing great. Hope yours doesn't last long either.

Awww, Lindsey, hope you feel better very, very soon. Remember they really do know that you are doing a wonderful job at work. You can't help being sick. With all the flu going around this year, they should understand. Take care of yourself. The other stuff will wait.

I am feeling MUCH better tonight. I stayed home for the whole day and sat in front of the tv trying not to sleep so I can get a good sleep tonight. Hopefully I won't be up all night again!
