Ok Girls here's a good one if i do say so myself. How long did you date before you married your spouse?
I was married before. I divorced in April of 89 and started dating the love of my life on June 30th of 89. July 18 of 89, he proposed. I said yes. We got married on Sept. 9, 89. Don't get me wrong we have had our ups and downs. But you have to give and take. I didn't marry his family I married him. It's a good thing too just ask Janet. lol. we have been together for 17 years and right now it seems to be the best of those years so far. I have been truly blessed.

Let's see. We met in November I believe and we were married the next September. (we both had to finalize our divorces first or it would have been sooner)
Both my hubby and I are on our 3rd marriages. ( I know ladies, don't freak) We just knew it was right, we were meant for each other. Besides, 3rd times a charm!

My hubby and I met in the fall of 2002, we had a class together in college. We had our first date on Dec. 3, 2002, he proposed on February 4th, 2005, and we got married August 6, 2005. We would have gotten married sooner, but I wanted to finish college first (hubby is 2 years old so he had already finished). I got married 3 days after my last day of college! :p :p :p

I met my hubby when I was 22, and I knew he was the one. But I felt like I was too young to get married. He was 30 when we met. So an 8 year age difference. So we dated for 4 years before we got married. But we moved in together after 2 years!!!!! So now we are going on 7 years of being together and going on 2 years of marriage! YAY!!!!!!!! And this is both of our 1st marriage!!!!! And I still like him...LOL!!!!!!! So I truly do hope we last forever!!!! I can't imagine not being with him!!!!

How did you remember when you met him? You must have a great memory capacity or there must be a good memory about the day you met. (if it's the second one then, do tell !!!) < i'm nosy>

No not really, this is gonna kill ya I just know it!!!
We were fixed up by my friends gay husband. They had a big street light in front of their house and underneath the streetlight was this old, beat up, each panel a different color '55 Chevy. I didn't go at the specified time (I was just about to turn 16) and I wasn't going to go out with some weirdo that drove a car like that. So after a while my friend called and asked where I was and I told her "aint no way I'm going out with this guy". She finally talked me into it and when I went over there he was...in clothes that didn't match and he had on corduroy pants with the threads so thick he looked like a bear from the waist down. We didn't go anywhere just sat and talked, (I would have been embarassed to death for my other friends to see me with the half bear guy). After a while I said I didn't feel well and went home. He called the next day and asked me out, but I told him I didn't know. Well he talked me into it once I asked him to just wear jeans. OH MY GOD this goofball arrives wearing a nice blue shirt and a pair of jeans with peace signs all over them. I THOUGHT I WAS GONNA DIE!!!!!!!!!! He was so nice though and even though we DID NOT get out of the car.... we had a nice talk and I casually told him he dressed like a freak. From then on he dressed much better and as time went on most of his presents from me were clothes. HAHAHA So here we are today ...just as happy as two matched people could be.
He's not so bad and going down memory lane reminded me of that.....thanks gals.:D

I only remember mine because it was a holiday. When we met, I was three sheets to the wind and I can't remember what we talked about. I do remember making out with him later that night. I was thinking man, I am seeing fireworks. I was so drunk that I forgot it was Independence Day!
I met Greg through mutual friends when I was visiting them with a different boyfriend in Oct of 1981. He told them when we left that "That's the woman I want. I'm going to marry her." They about laughed him out of the place, saying that I would NEVER give up the guy I was with for anyone. (We had been childhood sweethearts and rediscovered each other after my divorce.)
Greg was NOT a womanizer... had really only had ONE girlfriend before me and was 34 years old! So it was a shock to our friends and ME when I moved in with him 5 months later! We lived together until Aug of 1985 when we married. He proposed 3 times before I finally caved in. I was extremely gunshy after my 1st marriage and really wasn't eager to repeat that.

Okay, Y'all, top this......
Met June 1973, I was dating his best friend (not going steady)
Started dating July 1973
Engaged August 14, 1973
Married December 22, 1973
Married 32 years.
He was from Baltimore, MD, had been in Texas about 2 years, and was a democrat, agnostic, pro-choice. I was a South Texas farm girl, republican, very conservative Christian, pro-life. We met during summer term at college, and I loved his accent. Opposites do attract.
By the way, he's a Christian, now, and we are both independents, we agree on most other issues also, with time and experience, you learn there are shades of gray. Oh, and he's been here so long now, he has a Texas accent. :p

By the way, Janet, this comment is for you. My guy is color blind, so you should have seen some of his color combinations when he picked me up for dates at the dorm. He had no idea his pants were lime green. He thought they were brown. Hey it was the early '70's the colors were outrageous anyway.

Met my husband in 1984, i think it was ...
Married in 2004 :D
I saw too many friends get divorced and seperated, so i decided i was not going down that road!
People kept telling me, men change after they married, well in that case there was no way i was gonna say yes! He proposed several times, each time i explained why i wasnt into marriage.
September 2003 he proposed again out of the blue, it was so sweet, and i was shocked LOL
Well, then i thought after almost 20 years, if you don't know the guy by now, you never will... so we got married in may 2004. We had a beautiful wedding, it was so much fun, friends and family are still talking about it, and no he has not changed LOL
He's a good guy and i count my Blessings!

Met my hubby through mutual friends in August of '84 and we were just friends. Our first "date" was on January 11, 1985 but it was more just our first time out without being around a group of our friends! We officially became a couple in March of '85, engaged in July '85, and married on January 11, 1986 - we will celebrate 21 years of marriage next year.

Met 9/8/01 - (we were both very drunk & he asked for my number without writing it down. I was shocked that he remembered it & called)
First Date 9/13/01 (two days after 9/11, so I'll never forget)
Proposed Aug 04 - (said no)
Engaged 3/3/05.......
No date set for wedding yet
I've never been married, whereas he was married for just over a year a loooong time ago (he's older). We both owned our own houses when we met & almost instantly stayed every night together, alternating between his house & mine. Eventually, it was only his. Our relationship was great, just a few little things & one big thing.....Lack of Committment!! I had had enough & put my house on the market w/out telling him the 'why' which he later discovered that I was planning on 'moving on'. He dropped many a tear & then a knee & proposed. I said no, because it was not meant as an altimatum(sp?) & didn't want a proposal like that. But I wasn't moving out of state until my house sold. He was a changed man. He proposed again in March & I said yes. Since then, we have built a new home together & the focus has been off of a wedding. It's still important to me, but somehow I've become content with things the way they are. He's a great guy & treats me wonderfully.

My hubby's green pants were polyester, too. He also had some navy and white hounds tooth corderoy cuffed pants. They were awesome!!!! Or at least he looked awesome in them. They fit just right, and he had a nice butt!! Still does, just a bit bigger. ;) He still dresses himself, but does check with me on color from time to time. I keep him from embarassing himself. :D

Hey, Melissa, you know I was attracted to your dad, or you wouldn't be here, and I was your age when I met him. So perhaps you can relate to meeting the love of your life at college?? We may have more in common than genes.

Oh don't worry......I met the man who is now my husband the first day of my first semester of college. We had class together and assigned seats next to each other. Even before we started dating, I knew that he was "the one." :D

My husband and I knew each other when we were both in high school, but we weren't really close friends or anything. He graduated (he was two years older than me) and moved to Pittsburgh, PA, eight hours away. We started talking one day on IM and hit it off REALLY well. We started talking on the phone every night, for several hours at a time. In no time at all, we had both developed feelings for each other, but were scared to death to tell the other person in case it would in some way ruin our amazing friendship. We were SO intimate with each other over the next year. He knew more about me than my closest friends and he says I knew more about him than any friend he had ever had as well. We just had the best, most in depth, soul-searching and fun conversations and we were never bored with each other. Ever. He would play guitar and sing songs to me over the phone. lol. I thought he was the cutest thing EVER. Well, that summer, he convinced me to work at a summer camp with him and I did. It was the first time since we had gotten close that we would be able to see each other. Our first hug was SO special!! I was scared to actually be physically together, but it was immediately like we had lived in the same state and had a normal friendship all along. Amazingly, we got even closer! At this point, it was very difficult to hide our feelings and on July 23, nearing the end of camp, he kissed me unexpectedly!! I was shocked! I mean, we were still "just friends", right?? That's what we had been telling everyone and even ourselves. But that one kissed changed everything. We were finally able to be completely open about our feelings and it was SUCH a relief to learn that he felt the same way. Apparently, everyone except for us thought it was completely obvious that we were in love. When I told my mom we were dating she said "I know." When I told my sister, she said, "It's about time!" lol. After camp he moved to Louisiana. Six months later we were engaged (on New Year's Eve during my first trip to PA when I met his family). Afterwards, he moved back to PA. Six months later, on July 10, 2004, we were married at the camp where we had our first kiss. And he sang to me at our wedding. It was the most romantic thing EVER. :1luvu:
And three years later, we couldn't be happier!
