I'm pretty much caught up on 4WT. Some happy things happened, some sad, and some funny.
So now, I'll catch you up on what I've been up to. I was up at my daughter's Easter weekend and we had a lovely time. I missed going to church with them because there was trouble with the dogs and I didn't want to get caught in Easter Sunday traffic. I did get to buy the children their Easter outfits, which I love to do.
We celebrated my birthday when I got there, cake, singing and all. I'm waiting for Steve to get to sending me pictures. I had wanted a canary because I love their singing, (remember those songs you all hated that I wanted you to compare) but Jessie couldn't find one, and so I walked into the kitchen and there on the table was the sweetest little yellow and green parakeet in a pretty white cage! The girls and I sat down to decide on a name. Mackenzie, Jessie and I liked Fiona (from Shrek), but Kassidy liked Sunshine. Her name is now Fiona Sunshine and I promised to call her by both names all the time! I think they're boys actually.
I was kind of disappointed to tell you the truth. Parakeets are social, need attention, want to fly around the house and live for about 15 years! They're about as smart as a 2 or 3 year old child according to one website. Not liking to have one animal of a species by itself, I went out 2 days later and bought Skye, a beautiful white parakeet. They really get along and sit side by side, touching, on the perch. They play and chirp and are just the cutest things! I will buy them a bigger cage soon so they have room to play. So now I love them and I'm very happy.
I can't bring my animals to Jessie's anymore. She has 3 Malamutes - she's planning to become a breeder if everything works out. I love her dogs, but Malamutes are hard wired to hunt small mammals. Yorkies certainly fit that bill and Belle went for Gracie. She could easily kill here not even meaning to, so I'll put them into Dr. Dan's for a couple of days when I go there. He's Jessie's vet and wonderful.
The birds will have to stay home since Jessie's cat had little Fiona Sunshine in her mouth running to hide and eat her when Steve heard the bird screaming. He rescued her and we all told him he was a hero! Long story short - her animals want to eat my animals.
I was really busy with "stuff" when I came home - Who remembers what? Then, my computer caught a lot of viruses. My anti-virus program had expired and I didn't know. My computer guy decided that it was so infected that it would be best to uninstall Windows and reinstall a new one. He saved almost all of my stuff. I can't figure out how to get Photoshop. It's on my hard drive and on my
flash drive, but I'm afraid I need the CD to get it up and running. I don't have the CD! I've been setting up my programs again, which is time consuming, but fun.
The next day, it wouldn't turn on because little Gracie had chewed through the cord. All in all between the two, including the cost of the new adapter, it cost $240! Not happy!!!
Then my mp3 player fell into the dogs' water bowl - I found a possible way to fix it online. I hope it works or I'll have to get a new one. I'm not touching anything electronic for a few days!
My realtor has found some places to go look at. I have to call her tomorrow and see when. I'm excited!
I was observed yesterday during my teaching at Kingsborough. I'm very upset because my last several observations were Excellents. I have students going into the English Dept. to see when I'm teaching so they can sign up for my class.
This is my last semester there because I'm going to move, and I wanted to leave on an "Excellent" note. I got a Satisfactory because my teaching technique, plans, etc. were great, but only about 3 or 4 students had read the assignment!
One girl had the nerve to stroll in at 9:40! So, the lesson was going nowhere since nobody knew anything about the article. My observer was concerned that this is what always goes on in my classes. I told him it wasn't, and he decided that I should email all of them that I'm going to give a quiz on the next reading assignment at 9:00 next week, worth 5 points of their grade. He wants me to periodically do this. I'm upset because this is college and that's how you deal with these kinds of issues in high school. I also don't know if I'm going to be there next week - I may be condo hunting. I feel like I have loved this job for years, and am not leaving on high note. I retired from teaching high school!
Sorry for the very,l very long update, but I needed to vent. There's not much more doing. I have a dog trainer coming next Wednesday to help me straighten out Max who is as stubborn as can be and doesn't always come when I call him. Gracie Leigh is tethered near me in the middle of pee pads because her training went down the drain after spending so much time up at my daughters. They have 5 dogs and I think she got really confused by the smell of marking by the 4 male dogs.
That's about it!
