Brendon and I have the two most amazing friends in the world. They are another married couple around our age (Sarah and Ryan). We have gotten very close to them in the past few years. I posted video of Sarah and me at the park a few weeks ago with our three yorkies. Well anyway, Ryan applied for a full tuition scholarship to a local grad school seminary and he got a partial tuition scholarship instead. He can't go because it will cost too much. Sarah is having a hard time finding a teaching position in this area. She's been looking and applying for about a year. So now because they don't have much for them here, Ryan is applying to a seminary school in Lexington and Sarah is applying for teaching positions there as well. Neither of them wants to move, but unless something changes, they will.

Sarah just found out that one of our local schools needs a teacher for the summer, so I'm really hoping that works out. If she gets that job, she will have no problem finding a job in the fall and I don't think they'd move. I am really hoping it works out for them to stay here. I'll be so sad if they leave.

Thanks for listening. I've been so worried about this lately.

I'm sorry you've been through this too Teri. I live in a college town so lots of my friends have moved away the past few years. They come here for college, graudate, get married, then find jobs other places and leave. At least now I have friends all over the place! A couple we know lives in Charlotte, we have friends and family in Pittsburgh, friends and family in Florida, a friend in Charleston. It makes vacations easier, but I really miss my friends when they leave. I think this time will be hardest because we do everything with Sarah and Ryan. We are at their house almost as much as our own! LOL. Marty and Madeline will really miss Daisy if they move too. They love going to the park with her and they get SO excited when we get close to their house. It's adorable!

I can't imagine how different our lives would be without them.

We've had some really close friends move too and I've found over time that it gets harder and harder for me when they leave. We had an associate pastor that had been here for around 8 years and moved to Wyoming a year and a half ago (Zach's parents). I did really good through everything and the church had a dinner for them right before they left. When I knew that it was the last time for me to say goodbye to them I started crying and I cried for weeks. I couldn't even talk about them without crying. I know that people have to move for various reasons but I really, really hate it!!

Angie, I hope that everything works out for this couple to stay close to you. At your young age and living in a college town you already know that the possiblity is always there. Losing really good friends is hard. {{{{Angie}}}}

I hope she gets this position and they don't have to move - I've found that as I get older, friendships become harder and harder to develop.

I hope they get to stay Angie. It's hard when friends move. I've been through it several times.

I know first hand when friends move away how hard it is. I moved away myself and the day the moving truck was packing up my friends and neighbors came to say goodbye. We were all crying.. Very touching....

I hope your friends find jobs so they don't have to move...

Well, good news and bad news. Ryan didn't get accepted to Lexington Seminary. They are very disappointed and this was quite shocking. None of us ever even considered that he wouldn't be accepted. He was a great student in college, graduated with an English degree, VERY intelligent so his essays should have been awesome, he had incredible references... :confused: I don't know how they could turn him down.

The good news is that this means they are staying in TN for a while. Brendon and I are happy that they're staying, but sad that they are disappointed. Now they're really hoping Sarah gets a teaching position, but no one is retiring in our city's school district. Maybe something will change or she'll get a position in a nearby district. Please keep them in your prayers if you think of it cause this is a very uncertain time for them.

I am trying very hard to get Sarah here on 4wt! :)

That was definitely good news/bad news. I'm so sorry that Ryan didn't get into the school that he wanted. Unfortunately that happens. I hope that Sarah can find a job closeby. Driving very far can be so stressful. And the good news is that they're staying and I know that you two couples will continue to have a good time together!! I'll keep them in my prayers.

If Ryan wants to be a seminary student then I'm sure he realizes that he didn't get into that program because God has a different plan for him. Tell him to hang on and trust Him and it will unfold the way it's supposed to. I'll be praying for Sara to get a great job. I hope it all works out smoothly and quickly for them!

Angie, maybe your friend could ask why he wasn't accepted....or is that done? Hopefully Sara will get a teaching position. I'm happy that at least for now...your friends are still close by.

I hadn't seen this thread before. Linda (2tiredmom) use to live here. Her husband and my brothers wife are siblings. Anyway...they moved to northern Indiana so we don't see each other. We write here and an occasional email. It's sad when friends move.

Yes, they both understand that it's all about God's plan. In fact, whether or not they stayed in TN or moved depended upon which place offered Sarah a job first. They said that would be their sign and they'd know they made the right decision based on that. Ryan will go to the local seminary, but he only got a partial scholarship so it'll be difficult for them financially and they'll lose their health insurance that he gets through his work. If Sarah gets a teaching position, they'll be just fine, but we don't know how that will turn out. Her interview (which she didn't even get last year) went great. They loved her! She asked right at the end if they expected a position to be available and they told her honestly no, but if they did, she was one of their top choices.

This uncertainty is so hard for them. I wish I could do something to help, but all we can do is wait and see.
