View Full Version : Great Weekend!!!
I really enjoyed this weekend visit at my daughter's. I got to spend time alone with my 2 granddaughters.
My little guy, Brandon, came through his tonsillectomy just fine. I hope it helps him.
I boarded my dogs - the first time! We all survived the trauma.
I think my daughter is still mad at me. I don't seem to care that much. I do care about it some, but I figure that she'll get over it. She's trying to at least. In the past, she would have stopped talking to me. I'm so grateful.
The townhouses I looked at were magnificent. I'll post more about it tomorrow.
I have to go eat dinner and feed the dogs.
I missed you all, and I'm glad that I "caught up."
Oh - I tried to play with my profile page, but need to set aside a lot of time.
Hey Judy! Welcome back.. :) I am glad that you had a great time at your daughters, and that your grandson is fine, and that your daughter is talking to you. Unwind and fill us in when you get the chance. Looking forward to reading if you brought your condo ? Hurry back and post.

I'm glad you had a nice weekend, looking forward to hearing about your escapades. :excited:
I didn't buy anything yet. I have to check out some things first. It's also got a high monthly fee and the taxes are high, although the prices of the condos are what I want to spend.
It's a large community of 120 townhouses set up in clusters at the top of the mountain. The views are breathtaking. The condos are duplexes with a great room on the main floor. This means that the kitchen is not a separate room, but is separated by a half wall. They have beautiful floor to ceiling stone fireplaces, and cathedral ceilings. Some are 3 bedroom and some are two. I prefer the set-up of the 2 bedroom. They are upstairs and one is a loft with a
half wall. You can look down on the first level. I love the open look of the whole thing.
There is a huge terrace, some with gorgeous mountain views, some with views of the woods, etc. A couple also have front porches. Ir's really well maintained and very pretty. There's as huge swimming pool, and tennis courts.
It's a second home and vacation rental place primarily. I have to find out how many people live there year round I don't want to be alone there with the bears during the week, and I'd like to make some friends also.
It's also more than I wanted to spend monthly, but it may be worth it. It's close to Jessie. I feel that I do want to compromise with her, although I know I'll never meet all of her needs as a mother. Maybe she'll also learn about compromise, and maybe not.
Other than that, I really love the townhouses, the development and the location. It's so beautiful.

Were you able to take pictures Judy? They sound really nice. Are the walls thick in case the babies decide to bark?

I think they're very dog friendly. They have a dog run. You do have to walk your dog on a leash around the grounds, which I like.
I spoke to a woman who is on the Homeowners' Association Board. She said that only 10% (12) homes are occupied year round. She said some women who bought hated it in the real winter months, and some love it. It depends on how adventurous you are. I have no problem going to a yoga class, a pottery class, etc. if the roads are safe. Sometimes they do get icy up there, and I won't be able to go anywhere!
I have to give this serious thought. If I make a couple of friends of the 12 people who live there all year, that's enough. I want to do my pottery, yoga, there are writing workshops, I'd like to take singing lessons, there are wonderful seminars at Oneonta College (45 minutes away), etc.
So - it's beautiful and I love the area and the homes. The pool is fabulous.
On the other hand, it's not a community where I can count on making friends,
winters can be bleak, and it's expensive.
I'll know what to do - I'll let it just come to me, after I ask God to help make make the right decision.
Here are some pix of the unit that I really loved best. I hope you can click on them and see the larger ones.

The pics are small, but I think I can make most of it out. What a hard decision you have. Sometimes I'd like to get away from the Houston heat, but my aching bones don't care for the extreme cold.
Let go and let God!
I can see that you can't enlarge them. I'll see how to do this, if I can.

Judy, the condo looks beautiful!!!! You're just going to have to figure out if that's what you want or not. You might want to talk to some others about what the winters are like and what there is to do during that time so you have a good idea of what to expect. Hard decision. Good luck!
I'm glad that your grandson got through his surgery alright and that you and your granddaughters had a great time together! Sounds like you had a great Mother's Day!

No wonder you're having a hard time deciding...the condo is really nice. I know you want to be closer to Jessie, but I'd have to head someplace a little warmer...LOL....and then let them move near you.
