I just went to the wall last august. It is such an awe inspiring place. I left there crying even though (as far as I know) I know noone who's name is on it. I love to new avatar. the emotion there is overwhelming.
It's such an emotional experience. When I went, there were pictures and flowers along the bottom. It was heartbreaking. They were so young.
I have not been there yet , but I can imagine the emotions involved... So very young and so tragic...

I've been to the wall more than once, and each time, it is so humbling. All those names carved on that shiny black surface.
Another place that will get you is the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor. I've been there more than once as well. There is still oil seeping from the sunken vessel and a listing of all the names of the fallen sailors. People tearfully toss leis in the water. Even the Japanese tourists are sad and tossing flowers. We all need to remember the great sacrifice that our freedoms have cost.
Kat, let us know when you are coming to Texas. It's a big state, but if at all possible, and if appropriate, would like to meet you at least for coffee or lunch.

Kat, I also think that your avatar is very touching.
That would be really great if you and Marilyn could meet while you're in Texas! I hope that you two can work something out.
