I have decided I'm going to make a change in my diet. I'm not at all overweight, and I don't want to lose weight, but I do want to just FEEL better. When I was a teenager I used to be very active and my mom fed me pretty healthy food, and I always felt great! Now after a few years of college and work and ready-to-eat meals I've definitely felt a big change in my energy levels, not to mention a lack of muscle definition! My skin has also been getting pretty bad lately.
So a few nights ago I decided to take out my yoga stuff. I haven't done yoga in 3 years, since before I had Layla! I tried doing some poses but I got really frustrated with not being able to position myself properly and hold it. So I gave up and did some situps... 2 sets of 50 and my abs were really sore. In high school I could do 200 in a row! So I talked to Kyle and he told me to try doing 4 sets of 50 every night. He said doing them daily will define the muscles I have, where taking a break and doing every second night will build bulging muscles lol... so I'll take his advice and do it nightly! Anyways, I also want to start using my treadmill a few nights a week (but I've said that a lot!), and now that my guitar lessons are over, and Layla graduates puppy class on Wednesday, I think I might look into taking an evening yoga class.
So today I started with my diet. I had 2 pineapple carrot muffins and a glass of 100% orange juice with added calcium (because I don't drink milk). I want to wean myself off of pop and artificial sweeteners, so I'll try sticking to pure fruit juice and water. Wish me luck!

Well after one day (including the 200 situps... blah!) I do already feel better. Maybe it's just in my mind, but I like the feeling!

It's the start of day 3 and I feel GREAT :D I didn't sleep well last night because of the sweltering heat, but I still feel more awake this morning than I usually do. I also faltered a bit and ate a few handfuls of chips last night. I don't think I can give up chips!
I love all the fruit in the summer too! Mmmmmm watermelon... I might have to pick some up tomorrow :) We have a farmer's market here with a whole bunch of people selling their fresh fruit and vegetables, frozen meats, baking, and crafts. A few of the places sell very health-conscious baking. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

Good for you, Lindsey!! Just talking about the fruit makes my mouth water!! I love fresh fruit!

A really good fruit salad is to cut up fruit in bite-sized pieces and sprinkle it with diet jello!

I use canaloupe, grapes, strawberries, plums, apples, peaches, mangos, anything I can think of except watermelon. I think that it would be too watery. Don't add any water, just the fruit and jello. Yummm!!!

That's a great idea Diana! Mmmm I haven't had jello in ages!
Yesterday the little suzy homemaker in me kicked in and I baked some healthy carrot muffins :) Right now I'm craving nachos really bad but I'm going to try my hardest not to give in!

Good for you Lindsey! I do have some weight to lose but I want to just concentrate more on good eating. I actually weigh 100 pounds less than the day I got married! I'd like to lose about 25 more, I haven't lost anything in 2 years. My biggest frustration is not being able to exercise because I'm disabled. I used to love to walk, and that is why I haven't lost any more weight. Good luck in your quest for a better you!

Good for you Lindsey! If you miss nachos, try to find a healthy substitute. I try to figure out what it is about the food I'm craving, that I need. Crunchy, salthy is pretty easy. They make delicious crunchy healthy things. Just add some spices.

:) I have been eating a lot of vegetable thins to quench my cravings of chips. I also made a big bowl of salad and a big bowl of fruit salad in my fridge for when I feel like eating but I'm too lazy to make anything! It's also great for when I come home from work and I want to eat something while supper is being made. I used to just grab some chips and now I'll eat a small bowl of salad!

I eat WW chips which are really flat pretzels. They're delicious, but too expensive.
