Yay! Today is Canada day, and I'm enjoying my day off work! Most people took yesterday off too, or in Kyle's case, their work wasn't even open yesterday. I decided to go in to work because I'm stingy with my holidays like that :) There were only 3 people who showed up! It was good though, I got caught up on a lot of stuff.
I went to Kyle's last night and watched movies, and spent the night and slept in nice a long :) I just got home and showered and I'm playing with Layla. I think I might take her to the dog park! We went last night but it was sooooooo hot out (about 35 degrees at 7 pm... hold on I'll convert it for ya ;)... 95 degreese farenheit) so when Layla and I made half the loop she just started running as fast as her little feet could take her... not stopping to sniff ANYTHING! She booked it right for the gate lol. She wanted OUT OF THERE! But today seems a little nicer, at least there's a bit of a breeze!
Other than that I don't have much for plans today. I think tonight a bunch of people are going to meet at my house and we'll walk down to see the fireworks. My house is about a 10-15 minute walk from the big park where the Canada Day celebrations happen, and the exhibition grounds where we have our carnival in August, so I'm in a prime location because parking is TERRIBLE!

I just want to share the cool cake I bought today for the celebration :) I think I'm going to let everyone dig in before we go to the fireworks. It's strawberry shortcake, and I think it looks pretty good considering how hard it must be to make a maple leaf out of strawberries lol! Oh and I know it's a little out of my new healthy eating lifestyle, but it's a holiday so I'll eat some too :D

The cake tasted delicious :) Kyle and I managed to eat the right red stripe lol. I think I'm going to take the rest of it to work tomorrow and my coworkers can eat it. The fireworks were pretty good but I don't think it was worth the walk and the crowd of drunk teenagers  I guess I'm getting old. And now there's random people setting off fireworks and it's kind of loud but I'm so exhausted hopefully I'll sleep through it!

Happy Canada Day (yesterday)!!!!! I didn't realize that Canada was only 141 years old. I learned something new today!!! It certainly sounded like you were well located to the park and I'm sure that it was disappointing that your friends didn't show up but I hope that you and Kyle had a good time anyway.

Yeah we're still a very young country! Still changing and growing.. My province just celebrated 100 years, and the newest territory (Nunavut) was just established in 1999 so it's not even 10 years old! Interesting fact that I just found out is that Canada didn't cut all all legislative ties with Britain until 1982, although we're still considered a constitutional monarchy with Queen Elizabeth as head of state :)

I'm glad you guys enjoyed it! The fireworks here weren't that impressive either...I was thinking of going to the states to celebrate the 4th and get in on some more fireworks!
