This morning I am getting another Chocolate Lab female. Again, she's coming from Minnesota, so luckily I was able to get someone else to pick her up for me.
She's a stocky 2+ yr old AKC with the wide English type head I so love. She's got a crazy crooked smile that I love and is ready to start producing pups for me.

I'm a bit shocked that I'll have 2 nice chocolate females. Black is the most common Lab color by far... yellow is next, and chocolate is a distant 3rd. I've really lucked out color wise! I hope to get one more female after this, and then will stop looking for more. Should be interesting to see what color I find next! Perhaps I'll have to seek out a black one just to keep me grounded. lol

I have a couple of photos of her that are pretty poor... one that simply cracked me up! I'll share the funny one now and post better ones of her soon.

So far I like everything about her EXCEPT her name. I am leaning strongly toward changing her name as I can't imagine calling her "Prancer" for the rest of her life. lol

3806 Doesn't she seem to be laughing? Sorry about the poor quality of the photo. I didn't take this one, just got a kick out of it.

3807 Here's my new girl.

I'm in awe... she's blocky like I wanted, her color is amazing, and she's mellow and gentle. Well worth what I paid for her and then some. I can hardly wait to see what kind of pups she will produce! Between her and Chip there's enough sweetness to give one a permanent toothache. :D

She is beautiful Tink! I have now lost track of who is breeding now.

I know Canada is retired. Could you refresh the old memory please?

I have Jessie (yellow Lab) Hickory (Chocolate Lab) and This new girl who are all approaching or have just reached their 2nd birthdays so are ready to be bred for their first time. Chip is a year old this month, so should be ready and willing.

Gypsy is only 3 months old, so is too young for a long time yet.

So now I wait to see who comes into heat and decide from there how many to breed yet this year. With our frigid climate I don't want pups in the coldest months of the year. I'd love if I could have a litter from at least this new girl soon.
I'm taking her for a vet exam tomorrow just to be sure she's as healthy as she seems.

She's a very nice looking lab! I like the looks of the wider jaw line in a lab. If she were black she'd look like Shada that we had years ago. We still miss her!!! I can't wait to see the future pups!

Thanks all, I'm really excited about her. I've decided to call her Ava, which means breath of life. I hope it will be a good omen of what's to come.

I love that name. I changed my name after my divorce and added Eve as a second middle name. Ava was my second choice.

Could we please have a group picture?

Thanks!
I had Ava to the vet today for an exam and she's in great shape. Has a bit of water in her ears from playing in the wading pool, but that's the worst thing he found.

So he said go ahead and breed her when she comes in heat and we'll look forward to seeing your chocolate babies! :D
