I painted my bedroom today. Okay, let me back up....yesterday, I moved a lot of things from my room to the living room except for the really big items...bed, dresser..etc. Today I painted the bedroom. My bedroom is the width of the house..really big and I painted it twice for good coverage. Tomorrow, if I'm able, I will shampoo the carpet and then on Friday, put the room back together.
I am so darn sore I can hardly move. I just don't know if I'm going to be able to finish painting the house or not. I would like to paint the hall and family room for sure and then the dog/computer room and the living room.
After sitting here for a few checking out 4WT, I will have soooo much pain standing up. I may just have to stay on the computer all night.....LOLOL....NOT!!!

You should have taken some Tylenol or something to help with the aches and pains. Take some tomorrow and it will help you.

Try Advil. It reduces inflammation. So glad you are getting so much accomplished this summer. Way to go, old gal!!! You will have to post more pics when you are finished.
BTW, Hubby and I have just started having cashiers in restaurants ask us if we are seniors!!!!:eek: And baggers at groceries are offering to help us carry out our bags!!:eek:
Tonight we were at a drive through paying for food with exact change and they ask if we were seniors. Hubby said he is 56, and they said you sure are, and gave us money back!!!!
I'm not sure we are ready for this!!! Melissa gets married, and suddenly we look old or something. Maybe the wedding took more out of us than we thought. :o

It's starting to look nice Haley, but I still have a lot of work to do and I would like to get some new flooring, just not sure what I want yet. I took some ibuprophen and it has helped some. Well, I'd better get back to shampooing.

You go girl, i got alot of cleaning done when i had those 5 days off.. i also shampooed my rugs, it looks and smells so nice... plus bathing the dogs all so helped, Micah actually helped me bath the dogs, oh boy what a mess !!! LOL...
Well done Janet! I'm sure it's shaping up nicely around there.
Painting is hard work and I remember how sore I was just a few weeks ago when I was helping my daughter do hers. It's frustrating 'cause we can still accomplish things, we just have to really push ourselves to do it and then have a longer recuperation time.
HUGS give yourself some rest in between.

I'd rather be helping you paint then do paper work. I'm so behind on paper work that it's not funny. Today looks like another day at the computer.........now if I can just stay off of e-bay and 4WT!!!!
You know, Janet, that we're going to want pictures!!!!

Janet, you mentioned new flooring. We're getting rid of most of our carpet on the first floor of our home. The area around the living room is ceramic tile, so we are going with tile in the living room. We were thinking of laminate in the bedroom, a type by Armstrong that I mentioned to Judy in an earlier thread, then we looked at something else new. Don't go yuck, when I tell you. It's vinyl plank flooring. The flooring store we use has it down in their entry and the walkway to their office. It looks so much like wood that my hubby the custom builder was fooled. It really looks like wood. The pieces of vinyl are in planks with texture and color like wood. They are even contoured on the edges so that when it is laid, it looks like wooden planks. It's less expensive than laminate, more durable and does not have a hollow sound when you walk on it.
Here are a couple of links to some information on it: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/396922/advantages_and_disadvantages_of_vinyl.html

Just though you and others might be interested. When I mentioned it to some friends and family they could not believe I was actually considering vinyl in our bedroom. They just don't understand what the product looks like. I think I might still put an area rug under the bed or at least a runner down each side. I'm tired of our pets having accidents on the carpet and having to steam clean so often. Think we will do the tile first in the living area and then decide for sure about the bedroom.
Marilyn, that flooring sounds ideal!
I plan to show Greg the info yu shared as I am in desperate need of new flooring and would love something that's durable but looks like wood.
Thanks for sharing!

Janet you sound like me. I have been doing the same. Moved everything myself, spackled and painted and of course cleaned up as well. I still have some more painting to do but took a short a break due to All-Stars (Baseball). Not sure what kind of flooring you are looking for but I just had lamiates put in. They are wonderful. I opted for this over wood as it hold up well. I have five Yorkies and needed soemthig that would withstand them running all over it with their nails and of course the occassional piddle. LOL. Elaine

Our flooring supplier recommends the vinyl plank over laminate due to it's appearance, quietness, and durability. It is more moisture resistant than laminate and therefore more resistant to pet accidents.
We buy many thousands of dollars in flooring from her annually for clients. I don't think she would steer us wrong on recommendations for our personal home.
I'm not trying to sell either product, just sharing what we were told by someone who should know since she has to deal with manufacturers and their warranties for the various products on a daily basis.

Wow love that we have a lot of wooden flooring around our house but it noisey, this sounds ideal but have not seen it over here.
Janet I just read your thread and I hope that your feeling better, I bet your house is looking beautiful. Post those photos :)
Marilyn you have not aged since the wedding, those little snots what do they know...lol anyone over 30 is old to them... Btw you still look beautiful.
The vinly flooring looks great, when I go to some homes it is really hard to tell from pergo and vinyl.

Thanks for all the flooring ideas, I really appreciate it. I've been wanting new flooring for a couple of years now and I'm hoping once I get the painting done I'll be able to get it. Tile isn't really a good option for us I don't think. We keep our home cooler in the winter and sometimes the carpet seems cool, so tile would be freezing. I friend of ours has vinyl in her kitchen and I loved it, but it was all one piece...looked like wood.
Where I would really like it is in my family room, but don't think I could get anyone to lay it correctly. Our fireplace is a mixed store fireplace so it where it meets the floor it's not straight by any means like a brick fireplace/hearth would be. Don't know if they could get it to look right or not. Still, I've got to get the painting done first so I'll check it out more later.
You're so right Tink about the recovery time. I was so sore Wednesday night that I was constanctly waking up in the middle of the night in pain when I would rollover or move. Once I got up yesterday and started moving around then the soreness worked itself out.
Janet, I'm sorry you're sore! Are you taking a hot bath at night when you're finished. Then, take 2 advil, and go to sleep. It does feel better when you walk it off, doesn't it. I can't wait to see pictures.
You know what Marilyn. I had forgotten all about the vinyl. I'm definitely going to look into it. I'm taking up the rug all through the house for the usual reasons - the dogs, it's not mine, and it is turquoise! Bright turquoise.
I would certainly like to save money, and it looks great in the pictures.
I don't know yet what I want to do o the stairs. I may go with a compatible color carpet with treads. I don't like the idea of slippery steps.
Any ideas?

Hi everyone...today I totally finished the bedroom. I haven't taken pictures of it yet, but it looks exactly the same...just cleaner looking walls and cleaner carpet....LOL. I've missed being on the computer so I'm glad I'm taking at least the weekend off. Not only did I get the bedroom totally done, but I cleaned the rest of the house and now I'm finishing laundry. I won't have a darn thing to do all weekend unless I want to...LOL. I may give the dogs a quick bath in the morning...no trimming, I don't know yet.
Not near as sore as I was, as long as I keep moving, but once I sit down...man it's rough getting back up again.
Wow Janet, I wish I could buy some of your ambition! My house is in need of some TLC and I don't have the energy to even start. This hot weather just kicks the wind right out of me. I go out to take care of the dogs, come in and crash. lol

When I think of how sore I get a bedtime, it makes me not want to try to do anymore. I still have the computer/dog room, hall way, living room and family room to do. I still may call and see how much I would be charged if I had everything ready and ALL they had to do was paint. That climbing up and down the ladder just kills my knees.

I think that's probably a wise idea. You don't want to hurt yourself over it. I hope it doesn't cost too much.

Marilyn, thanks for posting about this! I really like the looks and what was said about it. It would be perfect for our basement, if we ever to finish it.
