So last night I went out to buy a purse for the chocolate brown dress I'm wearing to my cousin's wedding next weekend. I found this super cute lime green leather bag that looks so good with the brown! I love it so much I brought it to work today. It's sitting beside me and I just noticed a long, dark blue mark right across the front. INK! I don't know if it was there last night and I didn't notice, but I didn't have it near a pen at all :( Maybe it was there when I got it. Is there any way I can get rid of the ink without ruining the leather? It's shiny leather so I'm sure it has some protective coating, but every hint or tip I've found online says that ink will dissolve with hairspray, nail polish remover, or rubbing alcohol. I'm just worried they might ruin the leather :( Can anyone help?

I don't know if it will ruin it or not but.. have you tried the magic eraser. You just get it wet and scrub it. Just be very careful not to scrub to hard in case it takes some of the green color off. Hope it works!

someone suggested that on a website too. I think I have one at home still, I might have to give it a try when I get home from work

I think that I'd take it back to the store and exchange it. You might ruin it by trying to clean it with something.

Problem is, it was the only one there :(

I'd call the store and make sure. Then you'll have to decide if you want to keep it or clean it. Here's some sites that might help.......

Thanks for the sites Diana. I think I might try something after work and if it doesn't work I'll take it back. My cousin just got back to me, I had sent her a picture of the purse last night and she said the mark is on it there too. She said she can't believe she missed it, and so did I. So it was there from the store. I wonder if they'll take it back after I had to cut the designer tag off :(

Okay I just called the store and they said I can't return it without the tags but I can bring it in and they'll try to get the stain out for me

Update... I got home and sprayed hairspray onto a q-tip and within seconds the whole q-tip was blue! I went through a few of them and then it just wasn't coming out anymore. It lightened the mark a lot though. I then tried magic eraser, nail polish remover, and rubbing alcohol, and nothing took any more out. Here's some pictures... It doesn't seem that noticeable to me anymore, especially considering before it looked BLACK. What do you guys think?
The close-up didn't work as well as I thought it would, with the flash and the shiny leather! But you can see a bit of it.
ETA: I added a before picture as well

Until I looked at the close up picture I couldn't even see it at all! I think you did a good job of getting it off.

It looks like it most of it came off. I think that I can still see a faint mark but not enough that you'll probably notice it. I'm glad that you found something that worked.
