I raised a little superstar!

Okay so if you remember, a couple of months ago, Layla was in a pet calendar contest in the biggest newspaper in the province, and she won. I assumed that they'd use the picture I submitted and that was it. I just got a phone call from the newspaper saying they are going to send a PHOTOGRAPHER to my house next week to take professional pictures of her for the large calendar picture, and then somewhere in the bottom they'll show the picture I submitted that won! Now I need to try to get a grooming appointment before the photo shoot lol. Awww I'm proud of my little superstar :heart:

Oh WOW Lindsey...how exciting. Professional pictures!! You must be so proud and happy. You know we'll ask for posts of the pictures right? I hope you have a great groomer. I would hate to have them give her a bad grooming right before the picture. I would stay and make sure they do a great job for your little Layla!!! I would be so excited!!

I'm lucky that I finally found a great groomer here :D The picture I submitted actually was one I took of her right after getting her home from grooming. She hasn't been groomed again since then, so she's going to look a little different this time. I want her coat a little longer for the fall and winter, and I love how soft and fluffy it is now. I think I'm going to just get them to clean up her face and ears and feet a bit and then hopefully it'll look good :)

She had some pretty stiff competition, but I had numbers on my side lol... every forum I belong to was voting, everyone I worked with voted every day, and even my dad got his whole office to vote for her :D

I'm getting more and more excited for Friday :D A coworker just came up to me and was like "No way... a real photoshoot?" lol so I told her the story and she said "What a little superstar... now you're going to turn into the crazy mom-ager and book her all these things and the fame will go to her head and she'll be on drugs..." lol
She's at the groomer right now getitng her hair done :) I'm lucky I was able to get her in this week!

Yeah it's about time she starts buying her own food and toys.. she's almost 21 in dog years!! Time to start looking for a job :)

I was surprised too! I wasn't expecting to get this much out of it after paying my $15 fee to put her in the contest! A photoshoot, calendar, and therefore famous dog for just $15! :D

lol Janet after your last post I actually did a quick search online, but there's not much of a market here :) Maybe I'll have to start looking for a job in Toronto or something just so she can further her career :D

Well I hope you didn't think I was kidding. I was watching the "Girls Next Door", Hugh Hefners girlfriends, and one of them had her dog tested and then signed up to do commercials. I thought it was so cool and then you posted about Layla. I'd defintely check into it...she's really pretty and photogenic. (is that how ya spell that?)

Aww thank you! I really wish there was more I could do around here. I actually looked into modeling MYSELF for awhile but there's pretty much no market... as soon as someone gets an ounce of creativity they move to Toronto, Vancouver, or Montreal because that's where things happen and you can make a career out of it. I had one meeting with a photographer but then nothing came of it and then I decided to give up lol. Now maybe I should just try to push my dreams onto my dog, since I have no children to do that to :D haha
By the way, I LOVE the girls next door! I would just love to have their lifestyle, other than the naked photoshoots, and having to do gross things with a wrinkly old sex addict. But living in a mansion for free and getting to do cool stuff all the time would be great :D

Eek I'm getting so nervous waiting for the photographer to get here!!!! Layla has a pretty red bow in her hair and I'm trying to not let her get too messed up! She keeps scratching her head lol

Okay the photographer just left. He was really really nice and patient! And he loved Layla! He came into the house but there was nowhere to take pictures here with good light so we went into the back yard. She was so excited that a new person was here that she wouldn't sit still! And then she was running around so much that she was panting, so I had to give her water which made her face all wet. We couldn't get her to put her tongue back in her mouth! He found one where her mouth was open but her tongue was down... he really wanted a closed-mouth shot but he asked if that one would be good enough for me. We came inside and looked at ALL of the pictures and it was picture after picture of tongue! Anyways, he said "Well let's just try a few more" so we went outside and Layla was waiting for us behind the little baby gate between the house and the fence. He said "Oh maybe this is a good spot!" so he stood on one side and she lost interest and just laid down. I kept saying her name, and she closed her mouth and looked at me for about 10 seconds straight and he took a million shots and he said "I GOT IT! I got one right there!" :D Then he told me that if I want a picture to just get in touch with the person who contacted me and they'd be happy to send me one :) And now, 5 minutes later, Layla is asleep on the floor beside me. Ah the life of a superstar.
