View Full Version : What would you have done?

I was shopping in Walmart today. I only had a couple of small items in my basket. I was in the women's clothes and there was a basket piled very high with clothes waiting to be hung on the rack sitting in the aisle. I wanted to look at something on the other side of that basket. The aisles were small and pretty crowded so I parked my basket and walked around the high pile of clothes. I couldn't have been gone for more than 15 seconds, because what I was looking for was not on the other side of the clothes.
When I returned to my basket, I saw someone unloading my things, setting them on the floor and putting her things in my basket. As she wheeled my basket away, I said, "Hey, that's my basket". She said, "Well you walked off from it" and I said, I just walked over there to look at something" She said, "Well, you're sh!t out of luck, it's my basket now" and kept walking.
I was stunned and said, "You know, that is pretty rude" and she said, "What the he!! do I care". I didn't want to cause a scene in Walmart and I'm pretty low key, but I really wanted to jump right in the middle of her (verbally, not physically LOL!).
Instead I just picked my things up off the floor and went ALL THE WAY back to the entrance and got another basket.
So.....what would you have said or done????
Short of beating the crap out of her, there's not much else you could have done.
Obviously she left her manners at home if she ever had any. I'm glad you at least spoke up. I'm sure my language wouldn't have been quite so civil. lol

I hate Walmart lol Target is my store ;)
I would have probably called her a selfish lazy pig, but then again people don't pull crap like that with me. Especially strangers. That is one of the advantages being a quiet uniquely clad person with facial piercings, people who jump to conclusions tend to not want to mess with me. Which is somewhat wise I suppose, I am Scorpio after all...
But once I get in a store, it takes a lot to ruin my shopping experience.
You could have followed her around and thrown random embarrassing things in her cart like depends, laxatives & extra large condoms when she wasn't paying attention :D
Sorry that b felt the need to bully you.

I would have told her exactly with kind of B**cH she was and then told everyone loudly that the lady with the body odor and lice threw my things on the floor and took my cart. What kind of Neanderthals do they let in here????
Isn't it amazing Gayle what kind of rude trash walks the streets and our stores?

Gayle, I can honestly say that I would have done the same as you. Just because she has to be a jerk doesn't mean that you have to stoop to her level and behave like she did. Obviously she would rather make a scene then walk up to the front and get her own basket. It's sad that some people just don't know how to be kind to others. I'm sorry that this happened but I think that you did the right thing.
Gayle you had no choice other than beating the crap out of her...lol only kidding...I would have told her off real bad then walked away.. Sometimes Diana your right not good to stoop to their level. But I would need to tell the b***ch off.. Sorry it's my NY attitude . Gayle you did the right did.

I'm with you Gina...I wouldn't really want to stoop to her level, but I'd rather tell the "B" exactly what I thought...and I've been known to do just that.

Wow, I hope that I would have done the same thing you did. BUT, with my short, hot temper - I think I would have followed her around in the store, making a scene, telling everybody that she took my basket. I can sink to very childish ways when called for and possibly even blood shed!

I would have said "oh yeah I forgot why I didnt shop at Walmart often, low-life losers like you" LOL Ok not really! I wouldn't have said anything more than likely. Not really worth my time to let some ignorant person work me up... ya know? However, I highly reccommend you go shop at Target, the customers (most of them) are nicer. At least in my part of the country they are. I stay FAR away from walmart these days. I cannot believe the class of people that shop there around here. Screaming kids, jammed parking lot, frowns and rudeness everywhere.... its awful. I dropped BF off outside walmart a couple weeks ago so he could go fill a perscription. I kind of parked out of the way thinking he'd only be a minute. I kept checking my rearview mirror and watching cars around me to make sure I was not blocking anyone in (I was parked in front of a few spots) and this SUV pulled down the lane, parked and the couple started walking up the lane. I drive a 2008 Honda Civic. My first new car in a long time. The guy HITS my window and tells me Im blocking a handicap spot and he had to walk from WAY DOWN THERE. sooo MOVE MY CAR! I was furious! DO NOT TOUCH MY CAR! Why would someone do that? Why do they think they have the RIGHT to hit your window? I was speechless to the rudeness and the lack of consideration. Ive always been taught to be considerate and respectful to my elders. How can I be that if they are not that back to me? I didnt move my car... figured since he was already parked that he didnt need that ONE particular handicap spot anymore (there were like 15 handicaps open at the time also). When BF came out I told him what the guy said and we drove by his SUV and it didnt even have handicap plates or a placard in the window, nothing. ooohhh some people just need something to b*tch about!
Moral of my story... go to Target! LOL :)

Maybe he thought it was "Mentally Handicapped Parking"! Having a handicapped g-son, I'd probably tap on your window and ask you to move (even with lots of open spaces). And, if I see an illegally parked car, I REPORT IT. That's one of my pet peeves.
Where do you live? Target is pretty much the same as Wal-Mart here, just fewer, farther between, less selection, and more expensive. I miss K-Mart!
Ohhhhhhh I like Target said with a french accent! lol They really have nice stuff...

Hmm... i think i would have just got another cart and ignored the incident, wouldnt allow her to spoil my shopping trip.
Never let people drag you down to their level, some people dont know how to treat others, it's sad, they never had a decent upbringing.
Her attitude shows what sort of home she comes from, and what her life must be like.
I feel bad for people like that, they obviously dont have much in their lives.

I completely agree with you Mandy - it was such a shock though to catch her in the act!!

I live in NH. Target is just a much nicer store around here than Walmart. I dunno. If there are tons of empty handicap spots, its unneccessary to tell someone to move. I was not parked in the spot so clearly I was not sticking around for long. I swear some people have nothing better to do, like that guy. Not to mention my window was partly open and he didnt 'tap' on the glass he whacked it. He could have just spoken to me.
