Okay, now I'm curious. I've done some research on line & it doesn't seem as gross or expensive as I once thought. So who has used one? How difficult is it to use really? Do you feel like you're drowning? I almost drowned when I was 3 so this is a big one for me, I can't even put my face in the shower because I can't breathe. If this were to happen with the pot I would probably panic & choke to death.
Do you buy the salt mixes advertised or just use regular salt? Where did you buy yours?

I can't wait for someone to respond to your questions. I've thought about getting one myself, but haven't yet. I saw someone picked from the audience on Oprah when Dr. Oz was on and she just did it with no problem. Looks easy enough.....
I have never heard about any neti pot related deaths. Look around for a video to see how it's done. Youtube night even have one.

I had to check what it was too. I think that it would be pretty easy to use but the directions that I saw said to "stay relaxed". Also you have to learn the right angle for your head to tilt in order to get the water to run out correctly. It sounds like it would be really good for people who have allergies and colds and stuff.

I'm not quite ready to try the neti pot yet, but I did buy some saline nasal spray at CVS over lunch. The jist I get is it's similar to a neti pot just pressurized, but that didn't seem to be a problem for me. I shot the stuff up my nose & except for feeling like I could sneeze at any minute it seems to have helped. So I'm going to try this for now.
I'm pretty sure my problem is that the virus that's going around up here has camped out in my sinuses & that plus my normal fall allergies is making me miserable.
Hopefully it will start to break up soon

I also try taking hot showers because the steam seems to help open my head. Don't forgot about the Vick's. I will put some up the ole nose sometimes and it helps. Afrin nasal spray is a good one...helps me fall asleep easier. Indiana sure has it's ragweed and pollen doesn't it. Drives everyone nutso!

I use mine everyday - it really helps the sinuses from drying out and I think I get fewer colds since I've been using it.
I don't know about other people, but it took me about a week to get the hang of it - not using the right amount of salt made my nose burn a couple of times, and it was a strange feeling having the water flow the first few times.

I had a friend who used a Neti Pot and she said it really helped a bunch! I know it seems odd/gross/weird/awful - but people say after you get the "hang" of it, it really does help. I think there is some good scientific research to show it does help a lot.
Janet, have you used the Vicks disk you throw in the shower to make vicks vapors when you are in the shower? My daughter uses them and says it really helps her a lot.
I have seen and heard about the Neti Pot actually it looks cute.. lol It is the same idea as a nasal douche that sounds awful sorry lol.. My doctor gave me one many years ago I guess its called that. You put water into this plastic small contraction and close one nostril and tilt your head you get the idea that is why I call it a douce lol.. sorry if I offend anyone..

THE NASAL DOUCH
You are crazy.:tongue036:
Years ago my ENT DR told me to mix a pinch of salt in warm water and suck it up, one nostril at a time. When I get a bad infection, still do it and it is cheep.
But, I am not afraid of water even though I almost drown when I was 4.:confused:
