YEA!!! We escaped about 5:30 this afternoon. We stopped on the way home for his favorite hamburger and french fries (we share one order so neither of us is eating too much BAD food) and strawberry malt. The hospital food was just nasty!!!
Then he took a bath (can't shower yet due to incision from pacemaker battery change) and I washed his hair. Now, he perched in his lazy boy, holding dogs , watching his big screen TV, enjoying the peace and quiet of home!!!
He's so happy to be here and so am I. We're going to have a quiet weekend, and catch up on some much needed sleep!
Thanks to everyone for your prayers, support and wonderful words!!!

Gayle, I'm glad you both are back home. Seems no matter what ails us...we feel so much better at home and in our own beds :). Sounds like you spoil him a bit....LOL...that's a good thing..lol. Just don't let him tell other husbands....

Spoil him - oh gosh - do I ever SPOIL him!!! Even though my daughter knows that he needs to be spoiled with everything he has gone through - she literally rolls her eyes at me over the things I do for him.
Basically, my goal is to make his life as stress free as possible - oh of course, I ask him to run errands for me (when he feels up to it) and do other things for me, and he gladly does them. But I try to take care of all the troubles, worries, bills, etc etc, and try to help him enjoy life as much as possible.
So, yes, I do spoil him - probably too much, but that's OK by me!! :D

I'm glad to hear that your hubby's home and relaxing in his chair. You're a very good wife to pamper your husband like that. I'm sure that he appreciates you so much.
I heard this joke years ago but every once in a while I bring it up to my husband. Of course I would spoil him if he were sick too but I still think this joke is really funny!
Sick Husband
A woman accompanied her husband to the doctor's office. After his checkup, the doctor called the wife into his office alone.
He said, "Your husband is suffering from a very severe disease, combined with horrible stress. If you don't do the following, your husband will surely die: Each morning, fix him a healthy breakfast. Be pleasant, and make sure he is in a good mood. For lunch make him a nutritious meal he can take to work. And for dinner, prepare an especially nice meal for him. Don't burden him with chores, as this could further his stress. Don't discuss your problems with him; it will only make his stress worse. Try to relax your husband in the evening by being pleasant and giving him plenty of back rubs. Encourage him to watch some type of team sporting event on television. And, most importantly satisfy his every whim. If you can do this for the next 10 months to a year, I think your husband will regain his health completely."
On the way home, the husband asked his wife, "What did the doctor say?"
"You're going to die," she replied.

I agree a good husband should be spoiled a little. They are hard to find. Glad he is home and doing better.
Gayle - you spoil him rotten! I'm so glad he's back home. Now the two of you can destress a bit.
Enjoy your weekend with you dear husband.

How is he feeling now that he's been home a couple of days? and - are you making sure to take care of yourself?

He actually told me tonight that he was feeling BETTER!!! :) That just makes my day. I'm pretty sure he is feeling better because he was able to push the wheelbarrow this evening with some grass sod in it and didn't get completely winded. I asked him to not push it, to let me do it - but he just hates to see me do physical work, even though I usually do it because he just can't.
Anyway, we needed to lay down some sod over bare ground after we had our rock work done a few weeks ago. He went to the sod store today and bought it (they loaded it) and then we had to carry it to the back yard in the wheelbarrow. He helped me lift the pieces out of the truck bed and lay them on the wheelbarrow. The individual pieces of sod were not very heavy so it was OK. Then I was in the backyard scraping away some dirt to lay the sod and here he comes with the loaded wheelbarrow. Again, it was not very heavy so I could have easily done it - but he seemed OK pushing it and didn't get completely out of breath. I try to let him do what he can - don't want him to think that I think he is an invalid!
I laid down the sod and he sat and watched me. Afterwards we sat on the back porch and talked - the weather is so glorious this time of year in Texas. And he told me he was feeling better!!! YEA!!! :p
Thanks so much for asking! Oh and about me - well, I've been pretty busy at work, so not taking it too easy. BUT, I have been leaving earlier than usual, so that helps! I do try to take care of myself. I'm letting some projects go that I could be working on - but I just don't have the energy or want-to. So, yes, I am trying....

That's great news Gayle! I'm so happy for both of you!
Gayle, I'm so glad he's home and feeling better. If you enjoy spoiling him and he's doing better at home, you just keep on doing what you do for BOTH your sales.

Gayle, I'm so happy that your husband is feeling better. It sounds like you're both pretty cautious about him taking it easy but still it's nice that he wants to be helpful. He must be a great guy!
