I am so depressed. Why? I have so many things to be thankful for.
Please pray for me.

Everyone is talking about how bad things are Donna...all we are hearing is gloom and doom. How can we not get depressed. Plus the wintertime...not as much sunshine lately at least here in Indiana. I have a heck of a time with seasonal depression. I should probably get someone to help me with it, but so far, I'm been trying to manage it on my own.
I try to think happy or happier thoughts....it's not easy. I hope you can find a way to lift your spirits, if you have a hard time with it...then come here and let us help or even better seek some professional help. I guess I really should take my own advice.

Sorry that you're dealing with depression. You're dealing with a lot with your health lately and I'm sure that it's getting you down. Don't let it get too bad before you go to a doctor. They have meds that can help a lot.
I went and saw Chonda Pierce (she's a Christian comedian) once and she talked about depression. Here's an article that I found about her. I hope it helps.....

Donna, it is real easy to get depressed when you have so much going on. Is there a medical school or nursing school near you where you might be able to get some help for free? It just doesn't seem right that it should cost so much to talk to someone!!!
Also, social workers do counseling and they usually don't charge near so much.
Hope you feel better soon!

Donna, we've been through tough times and economic downturns before. We'll be fine through this one. We need to lay up our treasures in heaven anyway where neither moth nor rust can destroy, nor theives break in and steal. (Matt. 6:19).
We need to focus on all the love in our lives. Our families, our friends and look for the positives all around us. Sometimes we just need to not read the news, turn the channel and look for another program on TV. It's not worth all the worry.
Matt 6:34 says, "Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble."
Even God tells us to take it one day at a time.
:ghug:We're all in this together and are here to help each other out!! Hope you are able to find the help that you need.

Donna, I can't remember whether or not you work, but my work insurance covers unlimited sessions at certain places for therapy. I only have to pay a co-pay. If you do have insurance maybe you can speak with your HR about it.

I went to our counties mental health clinic and it was so much cheaper. A matter of fact, I told them I had to pay for it with my paycheck, it was based on salary) because I didn't want my husband to know I was getting counceling (I was young). I think I paid $10 an hour and it was soooo worth it.

I don't work and my ins. is $550 a month, $2,500 deductible and 8/20.
I have paid $5,000 out of my pocket this year so now it covers 100% but starts all over in Jan.
I have been on Projac for years, would be nuts without it. Depression runs in my family too.
I appreciate all of your thoughts and prayers.

Just wanted to say sorry for the large type in my post. It did not look that way in the preview. Not sure what happened there.
Wishing you well!!!!

Depression can get you hard. It also runs in my family. I was in a really wonderful place in my life last year when I realized I was depressed. I just couldn't believe it! I reminded myself that it's genetic and went to my doctor, who prescribed a second antidepressant or me (I was already taking one). When I last saw him, I asked him if he thought the two medications were still okay. He said that's the way it is supposed to be treated - with a combination when it's genetic.
Maybe you need the same kind of treatment I'm on. I have learned not to feel responsible for it or that I'm using a crutch. Life is way too short to be depressed if medication can help.
I love the article Diana posted. What a great way to look at it.
My prayers for the best outcome for you Donna.

Thanks GF, it is hard enough to cope with depression without adding our economy in to it.
Prayers for you too.;)

Haley I try not to watch to much news and read the newspaper. It is very depressing.. All I see in my line of work lately are short sales and foreclosures.. We have no control over the ecomony so why worry about it. Nothing we can do , but go with it and like you said hopefully we can rebound soon..

Thanks Gina, i love to read, i read almost all the papers everyday, on my breaks and at lunchtime, kind of a book worm,,, just have to read something else, your right we have no control.... it stinks too...
I am sorry that you're feeling depressed, and I can totally relate to you. I think someone mentioned health problems, is that what is making you depressed?
I have had issues with depression the last few years due to health problems. I have been taking Paxil for awhile now, and that helps so much. I honestly didn't even realize I was depressed at first, but my family and my dr. saw it. I didn't even want to try the Paxil, I just didn't feel that I needed it. But, I gave it a try and what a difference! Now I can look back and realize just how depressed I was. I still have times when I feel down, but times like that don't last long. I try to find the positive in everything.
If it's not too personal, can I ask what health problems you are having? The reason I ask is because there are many good online support groups where you can talk to people who feel as you do. I have Crohn's Disease, and I joined a support group/message board. I got to know several women my age, and I found I had alot in common with them, and we were all having basically the same health issues. Now we have our own small group, and we have talked on the phone, sent books and cards to each other, and just supported each other through the bad times. There is one woman who doesn't live too far from me, and we are planning to have lunch together sometime soon.
If you ever need to talk, just let me know. I know how it feels, and it helps if you know you're not alone. Take care.

Thanks Haley, you are so sweet. I am doing alright, just wish I had some energy.
Nina, I do have a lot of issues, nothing really serious just a lot of pain. My spine and neck are a mess, buldging disc, scoliosis, benign compression fractures, degenerative disc disease, disc protrusion, etc, might have to have surgery on my neck the end of Dec. Have fibromyalgia too. Have been on Prozac for years, that is suppose to help with the pain, HAHA.
For the first time in our life we are having financial problems.
I will quit complaining and think about something positive.
Appreciate all of the thoughts and prayers.

Maybe you need to change to something else or have your dosage adjusted? Spine and back pain are awful and really wear you down. I have had issues with back pain....not fun at all! There are many online support groups for Fibromyalgia, and I'm sure there are some for spine problems as well. Maybe you could check them out and see if any appeal to you.
I will pray for you, and I hope things improve soon. Like I said, if you ever need to talk, just let me know.

Donna, I'm so sorry that you have all of these health concerns to deal with. I'm sure that just dealing with all of the pain is enough to make you depresses. I hope that you find something that will give you some relief. I'll be praying for you. {{{{{{Hugs}}}}}}
