I know, I know. But that's simply because I have a daughter who bought a bag and put them in my freezer. That was over a year ago, so I threw it out recently to make room for some shrimp.
Wanna tell everyone or let them keep guessing?? or googling?? ;)

Ok, at least I don't feel so silly now. And Diana/Janet you should know because Diana, you may grow them or Janet, I think I remember you mentioning they are grown near you.
Soybeans! And the beans are delicious to eat, who knew??? My daughter ordered them one day for my granddaughter at a restaurant and they looked like green lima beans, only a little fatter. She seemed to love them. I tasted them and they were OK. Anyway, I got some yesterday and steamed them and then just put a little salt on them and they were delicious!
They also come in pods like snow peas, but as I understand it, you dont' eat the pods, you open them and scoop out the beans - so why would you want to do that, when they come already shelled.
They are 100 calories for 1/2 cup and little fat. Pretty good side dish. I've seen them in salads, but didn't know what they were. I'm going to try to eat more of them!!! Now I need to hunt for recipes.
I am clueless too .. Thanks Gayle for sharing I would have guessed a new toy.. lol

I didn't know that. But I love them. I buy frozen, put it boiling water for 3 min., chill and add them to salads. They are so good for you.

I looked it up after I posted and was so surprised that it was soybeans!!! We grow acres and acres of soybeans and neither my husband or I had ever heard of them eaten like this!!! I'm going to have to try some next summer and see what they're like!! Very interesting!! I know that soynuts are soybeans that are kinda' like peanuts.

Glad to know what to do with them. Guess I could have read the bag. LOL.
Karen liked to snack on them frozen. She'd get a handful and munch on them like peanuts or something.
I did buy some soynuts to try, and they are okay. Hubby did not like them at all.
I can see using them in salads, both the beans and the nuts. Thanks for sharing!!!
I have seen it in NYC, especially in places where sushi is sold, or in funky little hip delis. I didn't know what it was though. I thought it was very spicy - I guess I was wrong.
They sell them dried as a snack, like chips. They are not tasty in that form.

They are on the salad bar at Ruby Tuesdays, that is when I discoverd how good they are in salads.
