We have had no water since Monday night. I got a call from our condo manager to say that there's a leak somewhere. I didn't know this, but we have our own water main and generator. This is nice because the electric goes out in the mountains frequently because of snow, ice, etc. We do pay a lot for taxes because the town takes care of all of this for us.

In NYC, if there's no water in your neighborhood, or a blackout, you're pretty much on your own. There was once a truck that went around giving out water, but they stopped. Take your pick of the reasons:
a) they ran out
b) it cost too much
c) somebody beat up somebody else for cutting the line
d) they stopped caring

So....I'm not used to being treated the way I have been. The town clerk has been calling us perspnally to give us updates, two men have been coming around to give out water twice/day. Last night, I got a call telling me that the water leak had been found. I keep pinching myself! Do I really live here?

I now have 4 gallon bottles of water and 17 16 oz. bottles, and the water is back on.

Life can be good, and people can be wonderful.

Judy, what a wonderful place you have landed! I'm so happy for you. I, like some of the rest here, have lived in a small town and it is a much different beast from the city!!! I'm so happy for you!
