Yesterday morning I had the TV on. We bought it in Jan. 07, it's a 42" plasma Toshiba. Anyway....I had it on and went to the back of the house and when I came back, there was no picture...just sound. The picture was kind of flashing. I thought at first it was just the station experiencing some difficulty, but no...that was just wishful thinking.

When I told my husband last night, you'd think it was some depressing news that was about to send him over the edge...it's just a freaking TV. Anyway..on the way into town (the guys had scouts) Ricky said that his dad said "that was a good investment." Ricky and I wanted that TV so it was a sarcastic remark that he had made.

So today...I called h.h. gregg to tell them what it was doing and since it isn't under warranty, I was told to find a repair service near me by looking in the yellow pages. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT? Doesn't anyone stand behind their products anymore with a repair tech? I did end up calling one here in town that will charge $50 just to look at it. We have to take it in to them, they will give us an estimate and then at our okay...fix it if possible.

If it's not one thing....it's two...if it's not two....it's four. When does it end and when did customer service go out the window???? h. h. gregg is now a thing of the past to us.

That's why i never get the extended warrenty on anything that i buy except for our SUV.. if it breaks down fix it yourself or go buy a new one with the money you saved on the extended warrenty.....

Sorry Janet. Have you checked on the internet for any problems associated with your TV? You may find out that it's a fuse or something that you can replace yourself. When we bought our TV we were told that there was something (and I can't remember what) that won't last as long as the old TVs but that it's not much to replace it. It did have to do with the picture.

You know that they design things any more so they don't last as long as they used to so you have to buy them more often, don't you? You won't be able to buy a TV that lasts 20 years anymore, like my last one did. It's just another way of getting your money!!

I didn't realize I could do that Diana. Guess I need to google 42" Toshiba Plasma TV's huh? I haven't called anyone yet....heck we have 3 other TV's so I'm just not in a hurry.:)

I've done that several times with different things and we've fixed them ourselves. My husband is Mr. Fixit because he's too cheap to hire someone to do it!!!

So is Rick. Most of the time he'll repair just about anything around here. Never thought about googling it though. Rick is getting at the age and with his health not as good, that he just doesn't care to fix everything. If it's not too expensive, he'd rather leave it to someone else.

Customer service is not good anymore. What a shame, Janet. I hope you can find something on google to help you.

I can't believe that you were told to bring a 42" TV into the shop! Isn't it huge?

It's a little bigger than I feel comfortable hauling to town...lol. I did find a repairman and he'll be out on Monday. Seems like a very nice man.
