My parents never keep me in the loop! We have a cabin at the lake which takes 20 minutes to get to from my parents' house. I love the lake but the cabin is pretty terrible  It's just an old 2-bedroom mobile home from the 60's that has a living room added on the side. It was pretty disgusting when we got it but we worked very hard to basically gut it and get it to a point where it's at least comfortable to stay in for a few days! But my parents have always wanted to build something nicer out there when they got the money for it.
Well, a couple weeks ago I talked to my mom and they were at a family friends' new farm and there was an older farmhouse on the property that belonged to the guy's parents. They took my parents for a tour... it's two story, 3 bedrooms (or maybe 4..), new electrical and in really good shape! They went it moved off the property and are only asking 10,000 for it! I was like "So when are you getting it?" :D But my mom said "Oh we just looked at it, we didn't say we want it"
.... Fast forward to this week and I was talking to my dad and he said he was just cleaning the house because a guy was coming to appraise it. I asked why and he said "Well our loan went through for that cabin but we need to have our property appraised before we buy it" YAY!!!!! Another guy is going to drive out to our lot at the lake to give an esitmate on moving it.
If we get it out there by the summer I am going to be driving out there a lot :D I love redecorating and fixing up houses! I can't wait!

That will be fun!! It's always interesting to watch a house moved from one place to another. It sounds like it will be a nice big house to relax in at the lake!!

My husband's aunt bought a house to be moved but she only wanted the sun porch. Well, my husband, his dad, brothers, and other family members moved the sun porch but they also had to move the house too. One brother wanted it but after it sat up here in the meadow for several years decided that he didn't want it. It ended up that another brother took it and has added it onto his house and it looks really nice. It was really interesting where we actually moved it ourselves. My husband's family can do almost anything, it seems like!!! They moved it about 15 miles.

That's great that your family could move it themselves! I just checked and it looks like it will be 56.8 kms... about 35 miles.
Last Christmas my family drove out to see where a RTM house had fallen off the semi that was carrying it! The roads were very icy and the semi had gotten down one hill and halfway up the next one before it started slipping backwards. The house ended up in a deep ditch with one whole corner smashed in. I feel sorry for the people who were having it moved!

Oh I'm getting envious again. I would love to have a small cabin near a creek or private lake. How serene would that be....

Well, it's a pretty busy lake. But luckily my hometown is close enough that we could just go out in the evenings or any weekends... Long weekends and the weeks before and after them are usually pretty bustling! There are people from all over Canada with cabins there so there are people everywhere! But still it's a nice break. We're not right on the lake (2 rows of cabins back) so we don't get all the noise of people playing in the water and boats and sea-doos and things like that. And it's a nice little community of people :) Some people live out there full-time so there are always people around to watch your stuff!

We use to go to the lake almost every weekend with our boat and go skiing. It got so busy on the lake with more boats and skiers and people on those jet skis that we quit going and sold the boat. Too busy and way too dangerous. Just couldn't enjoy it anymore. I would want something quiet and relaxing.
