Thanks Diana, there are so many side-effects to that drug, but i don't care, i'm going to the doctors at 1:00 pm and Mikes apt is the same day at 3:00.. That was so stange April 8th is also Mike's 40th Birthday... That will be a nice present to his son to stop smoking, i really don't want to quit, but i'm not paying that money for smokes, that's just crazy, it will be around 5,000 a year!!!! we can take another vacation or finish remolding my kitchen... i can think of tons of stuff to do with that extra money....

You also need to quit for your health. My Dad had emphysema and it was so scary when he had an attack and couldn't breathe. When he was first diagnosed with it he was told to quit smoking and he would be a lot better but he just couldn't give them up. Believe me I begged and begged.
You're right, it will be a GREAT gift for Micah!!!!

With all of you quitting together you'll have a nice support group together. It will be hard but you are always so determined to get things accomplished that I have faith that you can do this too!!! I'll be praying for you, Mike, and your group.

I wish you the best Haley!!! It will be 2 years in August that I quit those awful things. My husband did it using the Chantix, I tried using them, but they made me very sick to my stomach. So I had some Equate patches left from another time I tried to quit and used two of them and I was done.
You will need to change how you do things and that will help. For instance...I used to put makeup on at my makeup table...I changed to putting it on in the bathroom. Now I'm back at the table, but don't feel the need for a smoke. If you were used to smoking right after a meal...go for a walk. Just change your 'smoking' routine. It really will help. I also keep the white Tic Tacs on hand.
Even after all this time...I still feel that urge once in a great while...but I just go do something else. It leaves my mind as quick as it came. I'll never smoke again. I hope you are able to stick with it....I promise you won't ever regret it.

Thanks Janet, yep my insurance will pay for the Chantix, so i'm going to take advantage of that one while i still have my insurance, i just don't like the side effect, but that is a good one making my stomach sick, i'm not going to eat as much.. i gained alot of weight the last time i quit and i'm not going to do it this time, even if i have to get diet pills i will!!!!

ps, one good thing is we don't smoke in the house cause of Micah, but i'm allowed to smoke at work, everyone smokes here, that is going to be hard coming to work and not smoking, but i will get use to it, i'll just keep thinking that were saving 5,000 a year on cig.s

I quit this past January.
Company I work for took a dollar an hour away from us... got the email stating that, and I was on my last pack. Had 5 to go and decided that quick I was done.
Good luck to you and Mike!!! Hard to do but so worth it.
Good news Haley! I will pray for all of you.
I was so proud of myself when I quit. It really helped my self-esteem shoot up, and actually was a life changing event.
My mother died from emphysema. I still have not forgiven her for that.

He told me he was a little oozy in the tummy, but that was it. Me....I was so sick I wanted to vomit...so I quit taking them and used the patch. I just couldn't stand being that sick to my tummy all the time.

I been hearing bad stories about the Chantix, the nightmares they say are so real, i'm really worried about that cause i sleep with Micah, i don't want to hurt him while i'm sleeping, i'm going to talk to more people today from our company that took Chantix if the nightmares are that bad, i will go on the patch, i have to call my insurance company again to see if they cover that... hopefully... i'll let you know..

Post-Marketing Experience:
The following adverse events have been reported during post-approval use of Chantix. Because these
events are reported voluntarily from a population of uncertain size, it is not always possible to reliably
estimate their frequency or establish a causal relationship to drug exposure.
There have been reports of depressed mood, agitation, changes in behavior, suicidal ideation and
suicide in patients attempting to quit smoking while taking Chantix. Smoking cessation with or without
treatment is associated with nicotine withdrawal symptoms and the exacerbation of underlying
psychiatric illness. Not all patients had known pre-existing psychiatric illness and not all had
discontinued smoking. The role of Chantix in these reports is not known.
