View Full Version : Pray for Karley...

Years ago right before Karley went to kindergarten she broke her leg. The break was close to her growth plate and there was a lot of concern about whether the leg would continue to grow or not. The leg did grow but is just a little shorter than the other, enough to cause back problems when she's grown. On Wednesday she's going to KU Medical Center and the doctors are going to do something in the growth plate of the good leg so hopefully the other leg can catch up. After it catches up then they'll remove it or do what ever and hopefully she'll continue to grow to about her full height. We're hoping that this doesn't cause her to quit growing completely. Please remember Karley in your prayers. She is just the sweetest little girl and seems to handle any thing that comes her way with such patience that it's really hard to have her go through this.

Glen and I will be here at home taking care of Kiley and Elijah. Hopefully Feyn, Tammy, and Karley will be home late Thursday. Thanks so much for your prayers.

Definitely, prayers are coming her way.

How old is she? It is amazing what they can do now! How tall is she now?

Keeping Karley and the rest of your family in prayer Diana. I have one leg 1/8 inch shorter and I had to wear what was called a 'lift' in my shoe.

Thanks ladies for your prayers. Karley is 12 and is a little shorter than 5 feet. Kiley, her twin sister is a few inches taller than she is and I think that it's because of the broken leg. When she broke her leg she had both legs in a cast with a bar in between the legs. We had to carry her to the toilet because there was no way she could walk or move. She was so patient and not a bother at all after it happened. She has the sweetest personality. It always seems like between the two girls, Kiley and Karley, that everything bad happens to Karley. It just kills us because she is just so sweet.

This picture is from when we made Christmas cookies all together. Karley is on the right and Kera, another granddaughter, is on the left.

Glen just talked to Feyn and theyve just gotten Karley into a room. She was in recovery longer than was expected because they were having trouble controling her pain. It makes me really sad to think that she's been in bad pain. The surgery went well.

I feel the same way as Sandy, Diana. Poor baby. Did they feel that the surgery was successful?

I know. It just about broke my heart to think that she was in pain. Feyn said that the surgery went well and that now Karley was having a hard time finding a comfortable spot to lay. I wish that I was there with them. I just want to see for myself that she's alright.

I hope they have the pain under control. I can't stand the thought of a child in pain. I'm praying she has a fast recovery.

Oh, I'm so sorry, Diana. I missed this yesterday. I'm so sorry that little Karley is having to go through all of this. It just kills me when little ones are hurting or in pain. I hope she did well today!

I haven't talked to Feyn this morning so I don't know how she's doing. I think that she's suppose to be home sometime later this afternoon or evening. They'll have a 2 1/2 hr. drive home from Kansas City. I'll let you know how she's doing later.

I just talked to my son and they're in the process of checking out. He said that she is still woozy from the morphine yesterday but that they have her on oral pain killers and so the wooziness should be getting better. He said that she went to therapy and they taught her how to use the crutches and that they'd probably be taking their time getting home. I'm glad to hear that she's doing well. Sigh of relief.........

I guess that Karley woke up a couple of times in the night and was hurting but this morning she seems to be doing well. Feyn said that she was watching tv. I think that I'll go over for a few minutes today and check for myself on how she's doing. Thanks so much for all of your prayers and concern.

Kids recover so much faster than we do. I'm betting she'll be back in school next week!

As long as she isn't suffering pain, her recovery will go well. How is she now Diana?

She's up and walking around (with crutches) and seems alright. She has incisions on both sides of her knee about 2 1/2" long. Kids bounce back so fast!!!

Diana, how is Karley doing?

DianaB
04-09-2009, 04:09 PM
I know that she didn't go to church with her brother and sister last night because she was tired from being at school. I'm sure that she's doing alright. She's the kind to put a smile on her face and never complain.

Feyn explained her procedure a little better to us. A person actually has 4 growth plates in each leg and, on Karley, they've stopped one from growing. The other three will still grow. Hopefully it won't affect her height too much. I think that he said that she had almost a 4 centimeter difference in her legs. I know that the doctors have really kept an eye on it ever since she broke it. I didn't realize that it was that much because you don't notice it when she walks.

I wish that all of you could meet her. She is such a dear and she has the cutest giggle (even though she's 12!). I love to listen to her giggle because it's very infectious!!
