Our city is getting a Rural King. It has a little bit of everything but leans more for the farm, hunting and that sort of thing. Anyway...there was a ad in the paper to register online or by phone and then show up this coming Saturday. They are callilng it a job fair.
Well, my son and I both signed up online and are planning on going in Saturday. I could really use some extra money. I would only want to work part-time. I don't get much help here at home except from Ricky and I just don't want the stress of trying to keep everything up.
I won't give up my bus driving, the insurance can't be beat, but thought maybe I'd give it a try for the summer if they hire me. I'm just not really sure what I want to do.

I've never heard of Rural King either. You're going to have to explain it to us better.

Ok, I see. It's a farm store. I just couldn't picture what it was from your post. My mind just wasn't thinking "store". I think that you'd do well in a store like that, Janet. Good luck!!

I've worked retail for many years, office adminstration and receiving. So it's something I know, just not sure I want to...lol. Thing is....not that it would happen this time....but I've gotten every job I've ever applied for. So I have to be sure I want to work part-time...just in case they want me.

My 56 year old sister has never worked outside her home. She has been keeping foster children for 27 years. She has decided to go to work at Wal-Mart, just to make a change in her life. The store hired her and gave her the hours she wanted because it's the store my Mom worked at until her first broken hip! She'll be in the fabric/crafts department.

That's what I was thinking. Tractor Supply is a nice store.
Janet, I was wondering if it was a carnival, maybe your town elected a King, or a new kind of ice cream place.
Good luck with the job apps for both of you. I hope you get the hours you want, and a nice employee discount.

There were way over 800 people there and hardly anyroom to park. This was in a nice size plaza with the old Wal Mart store at one end and a row of other stores off to the left.
I decided not to put in my application. After discussing it with the boys, I'm needed much more here at home than I realized. Didn't really want to work most of my summer away anyway, but thought the extra money would be nice.
Ricky filled one out and is taking it in now. He had to work most the day. One of the guys in charge there said there is always more hired after the store opens so it may be better to wait and put an application in then. I'll just wait and see what happens.
Good that you decided to take the summer off. You enjoy that time too much to spend it working for a few dollars.
It does sound that the store will be good for your community though. A lot of people will end up with jobs.

Yes, so many people are out of work here. Of course, I would have loved to have the extra money, but I like being home as much as the guys told me I need to be here.

It's great that you are in a position that you don't have to work and have your family's support in your decision!! Someday, I hope to get there. For now, I'm stuck. We can't afford for me to stay home. :(
Enjoy your summer!!

Oh, we can't afford it either Marilyn..lol. We just try and live within our means and don't do too bad. Can't afford some of the things I'd like to have or do, but I'm not going to borrow money to do it either.
The bus driving provides us with great insurance and for me to be home during the day. I would like to make a little extra, but I don't want to be overwhelmed.
