Gary and I went to an outdoor antique show/sale today. It's about 80 miles east of Austin and goes for 10 days. Tomorrow is the last day. There are thousands of dealers along a rural highway and also in some surrounding little towns. It happens twice a year and we usually go. It was take days and days to see all the booths, but since we have been going for many years, we know the dealers that we like so we can strategize our shopping. We're only good for about 5 hours of walking, and Gary spends most of his time sitting in the shade with Rex & Rowdy. He did was at least 1.5 miles, some of it up a little incline, so I was very proud of him. Often I have to go get the pickup and go get him, but this time he made it all the way. We only saw about 1/4 of the booths in the one area - but it is our favorite place to shop, so we were happy.
I'm attaching some pictures.
1. Rex & Rowdy are ready to go!
2. We begin the day, parked in the pasture parking lot.
3. & 4. Just some of the thousands of booths

that looks like it would be so much fun. we always try to go to as many festivals as we can in our surrounding area, and we try to take at least 1 of the dogs with us, I gotta get me one of those strollers so we can take more dogs.
it sad cause we go to the covered bridge festival in Oct. and that is the last/biggest one of the year, then we know winter is just around the corner, we can go 1 weekend and it can be 70/80 degrees and then go the next weekend and it can be snowing. I just love going to them.
nice pic's and glad Gary was able to get around and enjoy himself, he really is a chick magnet isn't he !!!! LOL

Love the pics Gayle. I love that kind of shopping but don't get to do it enough. Lynne has asked me to go with her for the last couple of years, but for some reason or another I've not made it yet. Who knows...maybe this year.

Yep! They sure were chick magnets!!! LOL!!! I was so proud of Gary. He walked at least a mile and a half - not all at once, of course, and with lots of stops, but he did it. He couldn't have done that a few months ago. He's really tired now, but he's veging in the easy chair.

That looks alot like Trade Days in Canton, only they also have a lot of pavillions. I'm so glad you took pictures! The dogs are precious in their stroller. I'm so happy that Gary walked so far:) Ok, what did you buy???

Ok, what did you buy???
I really didn't buy too much - I got some wind chimes for my daughter and a necklace for my friend. I bought a few pieces of my grandma's flatware - I have the few pieces that were left after she passed away. I try to buy a piece here and there when I find it - someday I'll have a whole set! :p
I tried to buy a "beside the chair" table, but the guy wouldn't come down off the price and so I walked away. I thought he'd call me back, but he didn't so I guess I wasn't supposed to buy it!
What did you buy at Canton?

Gayle, looks like you had a really nice day!!! The bluebonnets are beautiful!!! We hope to have time to go to that show someday. It looks like fun!!
(Wish I could figure out how to post pics like you do. The only way I can is from Photobucket, and I'm not good at that.)

We really didn't buy too much at Canton! I'm TRYING to save for Disney World! I figure that with both of our sons, both of our dil's, and both of our grandsons there, we'll probably spend too much money:rolleyes: But with four of them about to move to Scotland and the other two living in Seattle, this may be our last get-together for a long time:(
But I digress... I bought some doggie stuff, a mailbox cover, sunglasses...clear ones so I can put the top down at night on my car and not blow my eyeballs out of my head:p Mike got a new putter, like he needed it. Oh, I got a toe ring that's pretty cute;) Mostly we just enjoyed this beautiful weather!

I'm glad Gary was able to enjoy the weather and outing and I hope your feet grow back. I've never heard of that sale - 80 miles East of Austin - what's the town(s)?

Do you live near Canton? I used to go there at least once a year!! I love going!!! I have a couple of aunts and uncles that take motor homes and camp. I don't go any more because they are starting to carry a lot more imported stuff. There is absolutely nothing like being at Canton!!! My home is filled with many, many things that I've purchased from there!!!
Gayle.......That looked like it was fun to go to!!!! I love shopping that way!!!! We have a garage sale weekend along a certain highway near Kansas City and I have a cousin that goes. I would love to go with her because I guess that she finds some really good buys!!! I love old things!!

No, I don't live near Canton - I live about 5 hours away! I would love to go sometime - Gary and I talk about it but we never seem to make it up there!
How wonderful that Gary was able to do so much! He is very handsome, as are the boyz.
I hope your feet have recovered! I love an antique flea market like that. I used to go to one near New Hope, PA. I'm yearning for spring so that I can check out the yard sales and whatnot around here. There are a lot of auctions too. I met a woman who will teach me how to do an auction, otherwise I might find that I have bougth $4,000 bowl or something.

YIKES!! I don't know how to bid at an auction either - I certainly wouldn't want to win that $4000 bowl - :D

I live an hour and a half from Canton. We go in the spring and fall, because Canton in the summer is NOT fun, lol! We take our camper sometimes, but it's an easy day trip!

That's when my aunts and uncles go too because the summers are just too, too hot. They go in April and November with their motor homes. They may go at other times but they don't take the motor home. One of my aunt's and uncles live in Mt. Pleasant which is a couple of hours away. I have another aunt that lives in Van which is only 15 minutes from Canton.
I've gone to Canton once a year (with a few years skipped but not many) for the last 25 years or so. There is just no place like it, the people, the food, the smells!! I've got a knee that's bothering me now so I don't know if I can take the walking any more.

Don't worry about walking Diana, just rent a scooter! Heck, we do that sometimes just because we're tired:p
We have a lot of church or charity based thrift shops up here, and some nice consignment shops. I bought a cute turquoise summer dress, a beautiful scarf, and a pretty little dish in a consignment shop yesterday.
Then, I went into one of our local thrift shops to donate a sweater and bought a cozy henley shirt, a tee shirt (both also turquoise), an unused fleece nightshirt, and a nice pair of shoes that were not used. They were having a special - fill up a bag and pay a flat $4.00.
I brought them home, threw all of the clothes into the washing machine, and I was really happy with everything.
It was a great day for bargains!
