I got a call this evening from my Mom and one of her sisters, Joan, was put in the hospital today with chest pains and the possibility of surgery if her tests didn't turn out well. Mom called later to say that she was bad enough that they went ahead and did the balloon thing and put in a stent. She called again a third time and said that they were taking Joan back into surgery because they think the stent has gotten clogged.

Joan is one of my favorite aunts. She has a wonderful sense of humor and is so much fun to be around. Please remember her in prayer along with all of our family. Thanks so much. I'll keep you posted on how she's doing.

Mom called again and the second surgery went well. The drs found out that the stent was fine and not causing any problems. I guess that Joan had a blockage that the drs thought was causing her the pain and that it had already started re-routing. She also had an older blockage that had already re-routed. She's going to be staying in the hospital for a few days so they can keep an eye on her. I'm so glad. I was really, really worried. I just can't image losing one of my aunts.

Diana, so glad to read she is doing better and that you're not quite as worried. I know how close you are with your aunts and I will continue to keep her and your family in my prayers.

Thanks so much, Janet and Marilyn. I haven't heard anything this morning so she must be doing alright. Any problems and the girls (Mom and her sisters) are on the phone right away with each other. I just can't even imagine how hard it would be if something was to happen to one of them.

Diana, it sounds like they have it under control. I am so happy for you. I have an aunt who I love so much, so I know how you feel.

My ex had a major heart attack, and had 2 angioplasties - the first one collapsed, and has been just fine for the last 14 years. It is amazing what can be done!

You and your family will be in my prayers.

I talked to Mom this evening and my Aunt isn't doing too well. She was fine this morning then after lunch she started having severe pain. They have her on morphine. It was discovered that she had a blockage that had already started re-routing and they think that's what's causing her pain. Everyone's really worried about her. Keep up the prayers please.

I'm sorry she's not doing well Diana. Hopefully they will be able to help her pain and fix whatever is causing all the trouble.

Here's what my cousin, Rhonda, had to say on FB this morning.....

My mom had a better night last night. The pain and nausea seemed to be gone. This morning when they tried to ween her off Oxygen something wasn't right so the nurse thinks she may have pneumonia. Thank you for your encouragment and prayers.

So it sounds like she's better this morning.

Rhonda posted on FB Thursday that they were moving Joan out of CCU and that she does have pneumonia. I had heard that she's only going to be in the hospital for a day or two after they move her to a room so she should be going home today or tomorrow. My Mom and some of the other sisters were wanting to go and check on her but Joan's husband said no. They think that she had too much company the first day and that's what caused her to have such severe pain so I'm sure that she'll be spending a lot of time resting. Believe me, she wouldn't be resting if the girls all came to take care of her!!!! Thanks so much for your prayers!!

I just received a call from my Aunt Marva and, I guess, that Joan got out of the hospital yesterday but today she's having severe chest pains and her husband called 911 for an ambulance to take her back. Marva didn't think that it sounded very good and she was really upset. Please remember Joan and our family still in prayer. Thanks!!

I'm so sorry about your aunt! She may still have blockage somewhere. Hopefully they can fix it with another stent. Heart problems are so upsetting. Mike had a heart attack when he was 40, and he's now almost 56 and living just fine with 7 stents. I'll bet your aunt gets just fine:) Please keep us updated when you can.

Mom called last night and Joan's had a "slight" heart attack caused from the stent being blocked. The drs were able to get some blood to flow through it and this morning they were going to decide what to do. They have her on blood thinners so they're not sure about open heart surgery which is what the next step is. Thanks so much for your prayers.

Here's what my cousin, Rhonda, had to say today......

Mom was stable today. They have her on a machine to help her heart and meds to keep her calm. Pray that they are open the stent in the morning....if not, we will have to have bypass.

Mom called this morning and they're going to do a 4 bypass either later this afternoon or tomorrow morning. She still has too much blood thinner in her blood. Mom's heading to Arkansas to be with her tomorrow. She invited me to go but with all of the sisters going (I'm sure that they'll all be heading there as well.) I'm afraid that I'd be more in the way than I'd help. Thanks again for all of your prayers.

I'm so sorry about your aunt. It sounds like she has a great support system. Please warn your mom that your aunt will look awful right after her surgery...it's a shocking sight if you aren't prepared. My prayers are with you all. Just try to remember that her doctors do this every day...I'm sure they're great at it.

Mom just called to say that everything went well with the surgery. The doctor said that he found a vessel that was just about to burst and if it would have Joan would have died instantly. We're praising the Lord that He knew all along that she needed open heart surgery for this to be found and repaired!!!! What an answer to prayer!!! Of course, Joan is still critical but I know that everything is going to be alright!!!! Thanks so much for your prayers!!!

it is always hardest on the family members to see our loved ones go through any sickness. Prayers for your Aunt, her family and caregivers. Hugs.
