View Full Version : My Sil Showed Up!!!
If you live long enough, everything you need comes your way!
My SIL showed up Monday morning to do the work on my house that I have needed done for how many months now?
I'm so excited. Yesterday he went to buy me shelves and whatnot in Lowe's, and didn't come over. He and Jessie went together and they also went food shopping. Do you think he is going to charge me for a whole day? Today, he came over at 9:00 and left at about 12:00 because it is too nice out and he wanted to finish working on his deck and opening their pool. I have to laugh! Again, do I have to pay for the day? In all fairness, he does do more in 3 hours than a lot of contractors do in 8 hours. I will pay for the whole day if he asks for it. It's not worth arguing over, and it goes to my grandchildren. But, it's not right if he does.
He will be back on Friday. Hurray!:cheer: I am so glad it will be done and I can begin to do the finishing touches, which are so much fun.

So your place will be completely done as far as needing your SIL? That would be great. He kind of dragged it out some and you're a heck of alot more patient than I ever would be. You have a heart of gold.

I'm so glad he finally showed up! I know you've been needing his help for quite a while now. Hopefully he won't charge for a whole day. That would be a bit out of line...

I'm glad to hear that your SIL is finally getting things finished. I know that you're excited to get everything in place!!! Yay!!!!
This is why you never do business with family or friends if you can help it! I had no choice, and his work is beautiful. I always think everything happens because it is supposed to. I sure hope that's true!!!

Hope he shows up today an works a whole day, good luck.
Sounds like things are shaping up beautifully, you waited long enough.
As far as paying your SIL for the day, does he not take other jobs to work at your home? or does he do it on his spare time ? If he does it on his spare time I don't think that he should charge you for the labor for you are his MIL, and knowing you, you give it back tenfold to his family. Thats just my feelings.. Unless he is out of work and needs the money that is different...
Take lots of photos...

You are a patient lady thats for sure!!!
I have to agree with Gina, if he is out of work and needs the bucks thats different, but is he is doing you a favor in his spare time, it should be done out of love for you.
Now... i am sure your place is looking beautiful, and i would love to see pictures ;)
Steve is out of work for almost a year now! He is an electrician and times are bad. Up here, poverty is an issue anyway, so jobs are few and far between. Truth be told though, he had a job, about 60 miles away, a few months ago. He quit because it was too far and didn't pay enough. He's also 42 and cannot work as hard as is expected up here. In NYC, it seems they don't work as hard.
I do love my SIL, but he does this a lot. He sabotages himself and then blames the world. He has an issue, which may boil down to him not wanting to work, for whatever the reasons. Even if his issues are not just that, this is no time to leave a job. Now he is sorry he did that, and would not have done it if he knew what was going to happen, i.e. no work. It's so easy to say that you're sorry you did something!
I keep out of this whole issue.
He is only charging me for 1 day and 2 half days. He is fair, and does great work, BUT, he has not come at all this week.
So, I got a day and a half. He'll be back next week.

Sorry, Judy. I don't understand why he doesn't just get your work done especially since he's so close to having it finished anyway. At least he is charging you fairly.

Ahhh Diana. In a perfect world, he would ave finished quite a few weeks ago! He is the type who digs himself into a hole, and then gets depressed, and digs down some more. I'm sure there is more to it, but I do keep out of it.
It must be very hard to be him.
He needs our prayers.
