I went to a Wal-Mart today.......the lines were long and I changed lines 2 or 3 times.......trying to find a fast checker.......I finally got up to the checkout counter and I heard a phone ringing.....The checker took it out of her pocket and started a 10 minute conversation about a movie she was going to see!!!!!!!

Then a friend of hers walked up and began a gabfest with her...while she was slowly and in slow motion moving my items across the "thingy"

I needed therapy by the time I checked out......

Is it just me or is service the worst it has ever been........

Oh I forgot the store in Houston.......the clerk had just come back from lunch and was using tooth floss to remove her lunch from her teeth..

EEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!

Can you believe this:eek:

First of all, I would have asked if she minded getting off the phone and taking care of me, her customer! If she got ugly with me, I would have asked for the manager pronto! She should have been reprimanded right then and there for talking on her cell phone while on the clock working (unless the cell phone is used in your job functions, leave it off!!). Our local Wal-Mart has pretty good clerks who check you out but there are a few who aren't. I usually look for a self check-out line so I can either talk to myself, thank myself for shopping there, or just say nothing at all!! Of course, when I do talk to myself, the people behind me in line always give me strange looks - wonder why that is???....LOL!! Sorry you had such an aweful experience!

I went to Wal-Mart on Monday very early and there was not even one cashier working, only self checkout. I was the doing the basics kinda shopping, detergent, trash bags, shampoo, etc...you know the kinda thing and I wasn't really wanting to self check. I think there should ALWAYS be someone there to take your money!!:D That is the most important thing!!
But, on the other hand, Wal-Mart pays their people NOTHING!! I am not surprised at the type of people who work there or high turnover. Why would anyone want to work there...no benefits, pitiful pay, schedules all over the place...yeah, not the best job situation. But, if you do take the job, do your best, don't talk on the cell....geez. I have had a cartful of stuff many a time a Wal-Mart and then just left it at the checkout, cause the lines were so long..wonder why I keep going there:confused:

I have ran across that is several stores. (talking on cell phones). but... i am also a cashier. and it is just as bad when the customer is talking on their cell. I try to get them out of there quick and they are talking on their phone or dialing it.
I would have sent an email to walmart headquarters.

I had the same thing happen to me at a Wal-Mart last year. I was on my lunch break and an old friend came up to see the cashier. She stopped ringing me out, and after all the hugging and high-pitched squeals they started gabbing. I asked her (very nicely and without attitude, I might add!) if she could finish my order because I had to get back to work.... Well out comes the attitude!!! She really started moving slowly then....

Sadly, it's not just Wall-Mart. Not much customer service these days. The clerks don't care if you buy anything or not.

Hmmm.... that's just no good! Sorry you had a bad experience at Wall-mart.
No cashiers are allowed to used cell phones while they are on duty, here at any stores.
I do admit that the service is definatly not what it used to be, sometimes i feel like grabbing one and pulling her off her chair, if i get treated like crap!!

I would have talked to the manager. That's just rude and gross.

I would have been mad! That is very rude! I dont ever talk on my cell phone when I am in the checkout line, bc I agree that its rude as well.

If more people would tell the manager before they leave the store, some of this crap would stop. I know store clerks don't make much and I do feel for them, but it's not my fault and I won't be treated that way while in their establishment. I don't care what kind of place it is. I've even asked the cashier being a jerk to call the manager.

i would have went straight to the manager.....I use the self check outs whenever possible, i get out alot faster, and dont have to deal with that kinda thing. that annoys me, and I am not one to keep my mouth shut when things like happen lol

Later in the evening....I told the manager.....forgot the name of the clerk but remembered the checkout lane number......she was receptive and did not seemed surprised......soooooooooo maybe this has happened before.

I'm not trying to be vindictive....but give me a break......we need better service!

I hate that. Customer service in my opinon seems to be going down hill. There is just no respect any more. Maybe it's a generation thing. I know when I was a kid you got smacked for being disrespectful and you sure didn't do it twice. Now a days kids seems to get away with more because some parents are afraid to discipline. Not all parents mind you, I've seen some great kids, but I've also seen a great many just sass their folks and I wanted to reach out and touch them.
