Yesterday was Canada Day and it was nice to fall on a Wednesday to cut the work week in half :D Okay, a little more than half for me because I'm taking tomorrow off too!
I slept in and it felt really good! When we got up we decided to go check out the farmer's market, but there wasn't very much there since it was a holiday. There were only a few booths open and there was nothing I wanted :(
We went out to pick up some furniture I bought for my new place... well technically, Scott's mom bought it and I am paying her back this weekend :) I got a patio set for my deck at 60% off, and a really nice bathroom vanity including the sink for 60% off.... plus his mom gets another 20% off because she works there. Not a bad deal! All of my purchases together ended up being less than $200. Anyways, as we were leaving the store we noticed a fruit stand so we picked up some strawberries, blueberries, and nectarines. So delicious!
I put a chicken in the oven when we got home, and then we left to go for what was planned as a half hour motorbike ride. I have had nothing but problems with my bike so far this year. I've had to charge the battery already about 7 times. We got to the first stop sign and I hit my front brakes and nothing happened. Luckily my back brakes still work fine. Then I realized everytime I slowed down by hitting my brakes, my engine would just die. I would have to hit the starter at every stop light, or while I was still coasting if I just slowed down. We went to Scott's so he could change his clothes and I sat outside and the bike died and wouldn't start again. I was so upset. He went to his friend's house to get a charger and I went inside and cried just a little lol. I was so ready to sell it. I love my bike but my payments on it are $250/month for a new bike that doesn't even work!
Anyways, I ended up getting home 2 hours late but the chicken wasn't burning yet! We did have a delicious meal at least.
After supper we headed to his friend's house (where scott had driven my bike... he has a garage and everything needed to fix it!) and there were quite a few people there. It turns out Scott figured out why the engine was cutting out... he just turned up the setting for the idle, and it stopped dying!
Scott and I planned to watch what we could of the fireworks from my backyard. Somehow word got around that I was in an awesome location and everyone would just come over. I have never watched them from my yard, I didn't know if we could see anything, but most of all I just wanted to hang out with Scott and Layla in the yard for a night. When they got there the fireworks started and some of the girls complained that it was a bad location and they couldn't see anything. Everyone left to get closer, but of course left all their stuff. Everyone came back after the fireworks and drank beer and talked loudly... I kept telling scott "I have to go to bed... I have to work in the morning..." and I didn't invite anyone over! So eventually I just went inside alone. At midnight they thankfully all left. Scott explained I was trying to sleep.
So that was my holiday :) A little bad, a little good, but eventful either way!
