About a month ago I finally went to a new doctor because I'd been checking my blood sugar and it was running too high. My hands and feet were also really swollen and sore as well. I really loved the doctor who spent quite a bit of time with me, checking me over and asking questions. I believe that I posted on here that she ran quite a few tests to find out what was going on. It ends up that I'm diabetic, but I'm not surprised by that.
I went back a couple of weeks ago and she changed some of my meds to other meds and put me on Lyrica. I ended up having some problems with the meds for diabetes and finally quit taking it because the side effects were too bad, but the Lyrica......I feel wonderful!!!! I'm not tired.....my house is cleaner.......and I feel so much better!!! I didn't realize just how much I was hurting and how much it was keeping me from doing stuff but now..........It's like someone flipped a switch!!!! Glen has even commented on how much better I am. He can really tell a difference.
I went back to the doctor today and I'm starting a new diabetic medicine and, because of the price, I'm going on something else besides Lyrica. Hopefully, I'll still feel as good because it's a lot cheaper. If it's not as good then I'll go back on the Lyrica.
It has been so nice to actually feel like moving. I've enjoyed walking, exercising, cleaning, and even going to Wal-mart!!! I didn't realize that I was hurting so much that I wasn't enjoying things....but now.............It's like WOW!!!

Diana, it's so good to hear that you are feeling better, it's amazing what finding the right Dr and the right meds will do for you. Trust me i know from my back pain and then having the surgery how it makes a difference when you feel better. I hope the new med works just as well as the name brand one and you continue to feel like you are now...Lynne

We're still planning. I'll send you a pm as soon as I know more.
I am so glad you found out why you weren't feeling great! Now you know what to do, and that's always a good thing.
I'm sorry you have diabetes, but if it leads to you feeling so good, maybe it is a blessing in disguise.
Diana I to am sorry that you have diabetes , like Judy mentioned I am glad that you are feeling much better now that they got a diagnosis on why you were not feeling well. I hope the less expensive brand does the same job as the other pill with no bad side effects . Good luck and enjoy your trip!

Diana.....do you suffer from fibro myalsia (sp)? I just saw a commercial on TV and that's what they were advertising Lyrica for.

In my opinion, I have some symptoms of fibromyalgia but the doctor didn't want to think that. She didn't rule it out completely but she wanted to say that I was having nerve problems from the diabetes. She said that either way the medicine was used for both. I have pain in the upper part of my body as well as my legs, feet, and hands so I wasn't sure it was completely nerve problems associated with diabetes. But, whatever is going on the medicine seems to be helping and I'm very happy about it!!!! I'm getting ready to start with the new medication and am a little concerned about the side effects that go with starting new medicines.

Well I'm just glad the meds are working and you're feeling better. If the new meds cause any problems make sure you let the Dr. know right away.

The doctor told me to come back in if I have any problems, otherwise I don't have to go in for another 3 months. I really liked my new doctor. Her nurse is a daughter of a close friend of mine so I kinda' have an inside connection to the doctor if I have any problems!!!

That great to have a Dr. you're really happy with. I'm happy with mine most of the time....just not sure, around here...who I would switch to.

I got so much done yesterday and it really showed. I have a hallway from my kitchen to the back door and the basement door is there so things get stacked up there to be carried down to the basement. Since I'd been cleaning I had a big stack of stuff and before I would have asked someone to carry it all down for me because it hurt too much to go down the stairs. Yesterday I carried it all down and even put it all away!! I'm so proud of myself!!! It really shows how much better I'm feeling!!!
My laundry's all done, folded and put away. That hasn't happened for a long time. I've been making my bed every day and I have so much more energy. I'm so excited about what I can get done now!!!

You don't know how happy that makes me Diana. I am so thrilled you are feeling so good and getting things done. I think I need to go to your new Dr.
I did get my van cleaned inside and out and helped Ricky do the same with his car. I hate to admit this...but I hadn't cleaned the inside of the windows since I quit smoking 2 yeas ago...lol. Think your Dr. can help me?

Diana, so glad you are feeling better and found something that works for you!!!! Make me an appointment, too. I'll borrow the church van and pick everyone up on the way there. Let's see, Janet, Judy, who else needs a ride??

The new medicine that I'm on isn't working quite as well as the Lyrica. I can really tell when it's wearing off. Glen's not happy that I'm going to be hurting on vacation but I really want to give this medicine a good try because it is so much cheaper than the Lyrica. It's just not going to be as much fun since I'll be hurting.
I checked on-line about Lyrica and some of the things I read really scared me. One of the main side effects is weight gain and I certainly don't need that!!! Everyone talked so badly about it that I'm a little concerned about taking it, but on the other hand, I felt so much better with it.
Have you called your doctor about the new medication Diana? I hope it begins to work as well as the Lyrica.

Right before we left for vacation I called the dr. and went back on the Lyrica. It worries me but I do feel so much better on it. I called today and ask them to up the dosage because it's just not lasting all day. I really hated to do that but I start hurting before it's time to take the next pill. I still have a lot more energy and am feeling better than I was.
