I got up and let the dogs out this morning and was hit in the face with high humidity. There is a pretty good breeze blowing, but it's hot too and doesn't feel good on the skin. Suppose to be somewhere in the low 90's today so it will be a very hot and humid day.

Looks like I'll be staying in most of the day where it's cooler.

We have high humidity here all of the time. It just chokes me, lol! You'd think I'd be used to it now since I've always lived in it, but some things you just never get used to! Stay inside and keep cool:snowman2:

It's humid here too, really bad, almost every morning. Then later on in the day as it warms up, it usually gets better. Ahhhh, I just love morning sweat baths! :D

We're humid and hot here too! The good thing about humidity is that it doesn't dry your skin out like when you don't have humidity!!!! Think positively!!!!!

Diana.....it's just too hot to think positive....LOLOL.

It's that way again today so far....at 7:00 this morning. I'm just not good in this kind of weather. It is suppose to ease up by the end of the week....so hopefully it will.

We have a slight chance for rain today and a larger chance tonight. I sure hope that we get some the crops could sure use it. Then we get a break from the heat for a couple of days!! Yay!!!!!

Janet
08-10-2009, 11:16 AM
That sounds like our forecast. Rain moving in tonight with some that could be heavy storms and then a cooling off.

DianaB
08-10-2009, 11:36 AM
We have storms just north of us. I don't think that we'll get any rain from them but it really has cooled off. There's some other storms behind it so hopefully we'll get some rain from them!!

I love this weather so long as I have something to cool to drink. We were suppose to have storms today to but they haven't happened yet.

Janet

I just don't see how you can like high humidity....lol. I just can't function outside when it's like this. I sweat so bad I'm usually soaked within 30 minutes....yuck!

It's just plain hot and dry here. I saw a cloud of dust in a field this morning and thought it was a dust devil until I got closer, and it was a farmer shredding the corn stubble in his field. What a cloud he was stirring up. We're not watering the yard as much as we were since we have water rationing and all, you should see how brown some of the grass is in our back yard. My skin is getting soooo dry. Normally it's humid enough here that I don't have to use lotion except in the winter. That's not the case this year.

They're prediction a high of 100 tomorrow with at heat index of 110 with 30% chance of isolated thunder storms. That translates to hot and dry. It was 30% chance of rain today and all we had were a few fluffy white clouds.

DianaB

Marilyn, I sure hope you get the rain. I hate to hear that things are so dry and hot. I know it's not fun.

It rained here yesterday evening twice - for about 5 minutes each time! Nothing yet today, but I think we have a "chance" everyday this week!

DianaB
08-11-2009, 08:52 AM
That's great, Gayle!!!

The rain totally missed us. We had a huge storm go to the north of us and I mean that we were right on the edge! Then we had another huge storm go south of us! Bummer!!!

Well summer has finally arrived to the east coast.. lol It started yesterday and I think we hit 90 and its very humid.. Ughhhhh

Janet
08-11-2009, 12:42 PM
It's still hot and humid...but I think the temp is only in the 80"s...just feels hotter. Suppose to cool off some toward the end of the week, but next week the weather guy said it's going back up to the 90's and humid. I sure hope he's wrong. It would be so nice if the buses were air conditioned. Hot....humid....and dusty roads.....no fun!

Yuk! I remember unairconditioned buses and then you add in dusty roads, YUK!

Janet, why aren't buses airconditioned?

I'm going on a lunch riverboat cruise to check it out for our work Christmas party and I'm dreading being partly out in the heat.

And, I can't believe we haven't had a named Atlantic storm this year. That's scary!

Janet
08-12-2009, 12:57 PM
I don't know why they don't have air conditioning. Maybe because it would be something else to break down....maybe causes an increase in fuel usage....I don't know. It would be wonderful though from my point of view...lol.

I hope with the hurricane season starts that it's not a bad one. We haven't had near the tornado warnings that we did last year.

DianaB
08-13-2009, 05:05 AM
It would be nice if there was airconditioning blowing just on the driver!!! Actually, it won't be long before the mornings start cooling off. That's hard to believe but fall is just around the corner!!

Janet
08-13-2009, 06:09 AM
It was 66 degrees this morning, but it was still humid. It was foggy and water just hung in the air and on everything. I do turn the fans on me on the bus, but air conditioning would be soooo nice.

Bleh. hot & humid is my worst kind of day.

Janet

As you can tell....most of us don't like it either....LOL. When I was younger....it made my hair frizz something horrible.

You're right! That is scary. I had not noticed until you posted it. The weather changes are kind of creepy. Things are changing and it's not a comfortable feeling.

It is hot here. Yesterday, the heat got to me, and I just laid down in my bed and slept for a couple of hours. I am going to need a portable a/c, but not now. Summer will soon be over, and our nights are just perfect. As soon as the sun goes down, it cools off.

Today is another day of very high humidity. Walked out this morning to get on the bus and it was 75 degrees. Now that doesn't sound too bad, but you could darn near cut the air with a knife. So thick that just walking a few step to the bus....I was sweating and my skin was feeling so sticky.

I don't want winter, but I sure would like some cool fall weather.

I'll take care of your humidity, Janet. I'm sending some rain your direction!!! Enjoy!!!

We've had rain most of the morning and we have chances of rain for most of the week. Maybe I can talk Glen into going somewhere for a day or two!!!

Janet, my hair was a hot mess today :(
I let it air dry after my shower this morning and by the time I was outside, it was a nightmare!

The only thing I can really say about humidity is that "it sucks big time." Same thing going on today. We did have some thunder and lightning last night, but no big storm. I don't think we got much rain either. Didn't see any puddles in the road.

DianaB
08-18-2009, 07:35 AM
We have more rain today. In fact, it's lightly raining now. I'm tired of it especially since we've gotten enough for the moment. I'm ready for sunshine and warm weather.

We put some stuff in our pond to make it clear and nice and blue. I've really been enjoying swimming and with this rain, no sunshine, and the cooler weather I'm afraid that the water will be too cold to swim in after this. Have I mentioned that I absolutely love to swim?

Okay, what percent humidity do you have? Ours is predicted to be 98% today, and that's about typical. A few days ago, it got down to 50%. It was sooo hot that day. At 98% my skin feels fine. When we get lower, I feel like I'm drying up like a raisin or something. When we go to Colorado in the winter, my skin cracks (literally), my nose bleeds, my lips crack from the dryness. My family doesn't seem to be bothered by the dryness as much as I am, not quite true, hubby does have problems here in the winter with dry skin on his legs and feet.

I just looked up Baltimore 86%, Topeka, KS 92%, Indianapolis 90%. Y'all look about right to me. Seriously, I'm not making fun or anything.

We do have to you some pretty serious no frizz products and hair spray to keep our hair under control. The young ladies just twist it up in a hair tie and let it go.

Our humidity is at 37% on one place that I looked and here's yours for today. (Personally I do think that it's higher than than because everything's wet.).....

Here's something that shows everyone's humidity........

http://www.wunderground.com/US/Region/US/Humidity.html

The high humidities were probably because of the rain. We're not usually that high. Colorado does have lower humidity in the winter and I have trouble with cracked lips and dry skin when I'm out there too.

Janet

It was much lower today with some wind...really quite comfortable. Saturday our high is in the low 70's....hope the humidity is low too.

That US Humidity map is very interesting. I thought the humidity was higher in coastal regions, and did not realize that it was that humid in the eastern US, far from the coast. Very interesting and educational. Thank you for posting, Diana.

Wunderground is one of my favorite sites for watching the tropical (hurricane) weather. I tried to go to it a couple of days ago and couldn't. Don't know if the site was temporarily down or what. I thought they had shut down. Glad to see it still works!!

We have had rain for the past couple of days. Last night we lost electricity, so I slept until 11:30 this morning!!! I couldn't make coffee, so I figured I might as well nap.

The lights were back on when I woke up, but I don't know how to get my hot water heater back on, so I have no hot water. I'll have to find out because it is really humid and sticky, and I would love a shower!

My grandchildren were supposed to sleep over, but I pushed it up until tomorrow night. I think Monday is going to be cloudy, but not rainy, so we can go to the pool. Mackenzie is coming over tonight to sleep over by herself. I'm excited! I never get to spend alone time with her.

Another beautiful day here. It rained some this morning, but the rest of the day was so nice. The cooler temps is just what I needed.

Judy....hasn't school started for your grandchildren yet?

Great weather sites! Thanks, Diana.

Our forecast for today is T-storms, 30% chance of precipitation, 73% humidity, 21 degrees C (???). Just googled it - 70 degrees.

However, it really is a beautiful, sunny day. It may rain later, but we will get some sunshine. Up here, 70 degrees is strong sun, and our pool is heated to 82 degrees, so I will be going to the pool.

Janet, my grandchildren start school Sept. 9th. We end later in June in the Northeast, so we begin later.

I've been out in the heat the last two days, and it is soooo draining. I feel so tired. Haven't perspired this much in a very long time. I'm ready for some air conditioning for a while!!!

Today I woke up to very cool temps....51 degrees. It was so cool in the house, but it felt so much like fall and I love it. I have the front door open again and there is a coolness coming into the house. Sun is hining and not a cloud in the sky....so beautiful. I think the high today is suppose to be between 66 and 70 degrees. I've got to spend some time outside today.
