I'll be staying over with my mom this week while my daughter and family escape to the Great Wolf Lodge in Dallas for a few days. I know my daughter needs a break as she has been primary caregiver for my mom as she recovers from her knee surgery. She's doing well so it's time for them to GET OUTA DODGE! :D http://www.greatwolf.com/grapevine/explore/activities It has an indoor water park so the kids should have a ball! My 12 year old g-daughter is taking a friend with her so they are sure to have loads of fun! There is also a kiddie water park for the 2 year old. I know they all will have a great time!

I'll actually be running back and forth between my house and mom's house. I'll have to be sure Gary is OK, and make sure he has something to fix himself to eat. He doesn't cook, so I have to have leftovers or sandwich stuff for him to fix or heat. I don't have to stay with mom 24/7, she is fine by herself for a few hours - thankfully!

I'll have internet access over there, so you won't miss me :p

I'm sure that your daughter will appreciate the time off to do something fun with her family. My kids have stayed at the Great Wolf Lodge at Kansas City. They had a blast there.

I'm glad that you don't have to stay with your Mom all the time because I know that you've been worried about Gary. You're a good daughter and wife!! It's good that you'll have computer access!!!

Gayle its nice that your daughter got a reprieve. The family will have fun, like Diana said your a good wife and daughter... How far does your mom live from you ? Enjoy your visit with her. I am sure she is happy to have you.

You're going to be a little on the busy side aren't you? How far from your house to your Moms? Hope it's not too far. I've seen the Wolf Lodge advertised on TV, but don't know of any real close. I hope your daughter and her family get a well deserved rest.

she only lives about 10 miles from me. It's pretty convenient. Ican just get up in the mornings & run by the house to get ready for school. So I only had to bring over my pj's & pillow. It's very nice to not have to pack a bag.

We had a nice evening together. We ate pinto beans and cornbread and watermelon for dessert. Then we watch a women's professional basketball game on ESPN2. We visited and had a nice evening together.

I'm glad you had a nice time with your mom. I wish I could spend just one more day with mine:o

Great Wolf Lodge in Dallas is SO awesome!! It's also right beside a lot of other fun places..Bass Pro Shop, a huge movie theater, Grapevine Mills mall that has a Rainforest Cafe... Your kids will have a ball!!

I'm bored this evening!!! And I miss Gary. It is nice to be with mom - but she's getting ready for bed and I don't have much to do here. Oh well, guess it's better to be bored than too busy! LOL! But when I get bored, I eat - so I'd better padlock the pantry! LOL!

The kids are having a ball at the Great Wolf Lodge! Oh No! Maybe they won't want to come home!!!

Bing cherries? Really any kind of cherries sounds GREAT! I had a piece of watermelon - now I'll be peeing all night! LOL!

Yep. Rainier cherries are sweeter but we seldom have any around here. Mike bought me a tiny seedless watermelon when he got groceries this afternoon, but it was so green I had to put it in the trash. You probably WILL be in the bathroom all night...but some things are worth the sacrifice!

I'm thinking seriously about going to bed to read. How is Gary?

Gayle, hope you had a nice night. It's great that you live close and can spend time with your mom while your daughter gets away. I've never heard of Wolf Lodge. Will have to check it out.

Marilyn, the Great Wolf Lodge is a fantastic place for a vacation! The kids are having a blast!!!

Betsi, Gary is not feeling the best right now. His asthma seems to be flaring up which is not good, but not completely unexpected, as we are weaning him off prednisone. I don't know what we'll do if he can't stay off prednisone. It is such a nasty drug with too many bad side effects. Hopefully, he'll feel better soon. Thanks for asking!

I took mom to get her hair fixed today and then we ate at Luby's (a cafeteria). We had a great lunch and a great day together. We fixed bacon sandwiches for dinner tonight cuz neither of us was too hungry after our big lunch. Now, we are watching the Cowboys preseason football game, but the starters are out so it's no longer very interesting, so mom's going to bed and I'm catching up on the computer!

The kids will be home tomorrow and I'll be back in my own bed! YAY!

I'm glad to hear you had a good time with your Mom. I know what you mean about sleeping in a strange bed....or in my case....couch..LOL.

I guess we are both blessed that we are able to spend quality time with our Mothers, while helping them at the same time.

It's good to be home Gayle, but you did a wonderful thing for your daughter,, and for your mom. It is so nice to spend Mom/daughter time together.

I hope Gary's asthma gets itself under control.
