I can't believe all the posts that we've been having!! I think it's great but I've been so busy that I haven't been able to keep up with reading all the posts!!!
I'm still painting and while I'm trying to get that accomplished with laundry, cooking, cleaning babysitting Karlie, all trying to take place at the same time, I'm falling sadly behind!! I promise that I'll catch up soon..................as soon as I get these walls painted!!! (Also, the walls are being painted a real, real dark red and it's taking 4-5 coats to get it covered!! UGH!! But it's looking beautiful!!!) Love ya'll!!!!!!:)

I kinda feel that way too, but I thought it was just because I was gone for a week:rolleyes:
Our little family here is growing, and that's a wonderful thing!!! You'll get caught up soon Diana. You have just had a lot of irons in the fire lately:)
Red walls.... I knew you were a wild woman:eek:

Diana, I can't wait to see your red walls!!! I would love to do something like that in my house - but alas, my hubby would probably faint if I suggested we paint some walls RED! LOL!!!

I have some brick red walls! Also green and khaki. Red is translucent and it takes tons of paint to make it look even. But it's so striking when it's done!

I'm having a hard time keeping up too. Yesterday when I got here there were 139 new posts, today...over 140. WOW!!! I'm so glad it's picking up again. I just have to get here more often. I've been trying to curb my computer addiction a little bit, but I'm feeling lost when I'm not here more.
I also haven't been on a lot. I still have the old, slow computer. I am glad to see new members. Welcome!!!
I miss you all when I am not on here. You are dear, dear friends.
What are you painting, Diana? Which rooms? I also have red walls. I love color!

I'm way behind, too. We've been busy with so many things lately. Cleaning to get the house ready to put on the market, taking care of the pets, working on my car, things for church. Just so much to do and I get on here to find 120 or more new posts. It's wonderful that things have picked up so, but I can't keep up, and feel that I'm missing some things.
Diana, we would like pics when you are ready to post them. One house we lived in had burgandy below the wainscoat in the dining room. That's as close to red walls as we've ever gotten.
I haven't taken pics of the car yet. It's been raining so that we havent' gotten the tire fixed, yet. Where it's parked, we can't get the lug nuts off without backing it out, so we decided to go ahead and change out the radiator, and now we need a new transmission cooling line which connects to the radiator. Ordered it on Saturday. So it will be a few more days before the car is drivable again.

The color I picked is called Redwood. It's so, so dark. I'm only painting one side of the living room but I have a couple of doors to go around. I'm a real profectionist when it comes to painting so that's part of the reason that it takes me so long, that and I just have so much going on that I can't work on it much.
I also have a small wall that I'm going to sponge paint with three colors, a yellowish light brown, green, and the red. I have some lamps that I painted like that a few years ago and I just love them so I'm going to do it on the walls. I will post pictures when I get done!!

I'm trying, Janet. I got some done yesterday, but then I had to go and get Daya at school because she was sick and the school couldn't get a hold of Amy. Then my car quit and wouldn't start again when I stopped to see if Amy was at home (she was out riding the 4-wheeler with Karlie) so I ended up taking her car to town to get Daya. After I got back Glen had my car going again but he wanted me to drive it around so I went to town to pick up a sack that Amy had left at Dollar General. When I finally got back home I only had about an hour to paint because I had somewhere else to go. This is how my days have been and why my painting isn't going very quickly!!!!! It's very fustrating!!!!

I don't have Karlie again today but I'm still too busy to paint! This is getting ridiculious!!! It's always something!!
We bought a wood burning stove the other day to go in the basement if the electricty is ever off and while we were there (It was an antique store) Glen saw a safe. Not a little safe but a huge antique one. It's really pretty but it's HUGE!! Well, he's always wanted a safe. Don't ask me why. Anyway the owner came down on the cost and since we were there with the tractor and a trailer to get the stove we just went ahead and and loaded up the safe too.
Then when we got home we had to unload them into the basement, again using the tractor. We were able to wheel the stove in but the safe is just barely in the door. It's going to take several guys to wheel it across the floor to where ever Glen wants it to be.
I told Glen that I'd have to buy some expensive jewelry so we had a reason to own the safe and put it to good use!! I thought it sounded like a good idea!!!
Anyway, I have 2 hours until I have to go to a volleyball game for the girls then I have a women's get-together at church. Always busy!!!!!

Diana! We have a safe too - one of those giant HEAVY ones!!! That's the kind you want though, so thieves cannot easily carry it off!
We use it mostly for Gary's guns, but I keep other valuable papers and the like in it. When we travel, I put my jewelry in it so YES! you most definitely need more jewelry to FILL IT UP. Otherwise Glen will just fill it up with "guy things". LOL!

That's funny!! You're certainly right that theives certainly couldn't carry it off!!! Glen would like to put his guns in it but I don't think that they'll fit. I looked the safe up on the internet, it's a Macneale and Urban that's over 100 years old. We have the combination but aren't sure how the turns go to open it. I found a formula to opening it but we haven't tried it. We're just hoping that the kids don't push the door shut until we get it figured out!!!! We bought the safe from an antique dealer but she got it from the pharmacy where Dae Lynn works (Jaci quit before school started.)

The history of the safe is sooo cool!!! I would imagine it is the standard safe "turns"
Here's how you open ours - ANY THIEVES OUT THERE? If so, these are NOT the correct numbers LOL!!
65-25-65-2
Turn the dial left many times and then stop on 65
Turn the dial to the right and go past 25 twice and then stop on 25 with the next turn
Turn the dial left and go past 65 once and stop on 65 with the next turn
Then turn the dial right and stop on 2 (do not go past 2, stop on 2 with the first turn)
I think these are "standard" safe dial turns.

I found this information about opening our safe.
As long as you have access to the lock, you should be able to figure out the combination. The dialing sequence for the lock should be as follows:
4 times right to the first letter,
3 times left to the second letter,
2 times right to the third letter,
1 time left to the last letter,
Right slowly until the dial stops
The woman we bought it from had the combination but not the order of turning the dial. She had paid a man to open it after it had accidentally got shut but never learned how to open it. We haven't tried this yet but we're thinking that it will probably work. The instructions also mentioned that the last letter is usually a "K" and ours is. Anyway, we'll see.

Well, those directions are the complete opposite of mine! LOL!!! One way or the other, I bet it will open!

We have a safe, but it's electronic. You turn a special key to release a pin then punch in a sequence of numbers on the keypad and wah la, you can push the lever down and open the safe. Course, ours is not over 100 years old, or I guess you could have figured that one out!!
The vintage safe sounds so much more romantic. I'm envious, Diana!! LOL

Yep, it will be very romantic, Marilyn. It will probably be set in a corner of the basement (unfinished) surrounded by toys, Christmas decorations, and old vcr tapes collecting dust and cobwebs!!! :sidesplit:

We have a gun safe, too. It has a digital pad that we coded with a word so we don't even have to remember numbers, which is a good thing with my memory lately! I wish I had a REAL safe, too!
