Although I am not on 4Women that often (on YT ALL the time) I am requesting prayers. I found out this morning that my 43 yr old cousin (Douglas) had a massive stroke last night. He is in Mass General Hosp in Boston...He has a wife and 4 little girls. The doctors don't give him much hope...when the doctors tried to remove the blood clot it broke apart leaving small clots through out his brain. He is unresponsive and paralyzed. My heart is breaking right now...If any of you on here have prayer chains would you please put Doug and his family on them. My Aunt and Uncle are just beside themselves with worry and heartbreak. His sister is on her way here from Calif and should arrive around 7 pm tonight..Please,please....Doug and his family could use all your prayers right now.
Thank you all
Cribal

Thank you very much...there is nothing stronger than the power of prayer...I really do pray he comes out of this but the doctors feel there is no hope and that he won't make the day...I just pray his sister gets here before....
Thank you so much

If our good Lord needs him more than his presence here on earth is needed, then we pray "his will be done" and that his sister is able to make it home in time.

Thank you so much for all your prayers..At this time I don't have anymore news. I'm sure the last thing on his parents minds are making phone calls to everyone which, we understand...I do believe in miracles as I have seen them happen...however, the doctors don't give me much hope...
Thank you all....very much.

Brenda, have you any updates on your cousin? Prayers are being said all over the place for a miracle to happen, despite what the Drs. say. Know you, and his family are in our prayers!!

Thank you all for your concern, kind thoughts and prayers and those who has my family on prayers chains. My cousin has been unresponsive since his stroke. They have done many many tests on him. The doctors told my Aunt and Uncle tonight that there isn't anything they can do for him that it's just a matter of time now. My heart is just breaking..My cousin had a child from a recent relationship, Angelica is 12 years old. He got full custody of her a couple of years ago...Her stepmom isn't very nice to her (as my cousin is now married) and has a child with his wife and, his wife has twin 16yr old girls from a previous marriage. I feel so bad for Angelica..she has always been my favorite...She is just heart broken..I worry what is going to happen to her...I don't know if her stepmom will want to keep her or, if Angelica would want to stay with her, if her real Mom will take her...I just don't know...
Thank you all again for all your prayers...

Oh Brenda! I hate reading the update:( I was so hoping to read something more promising for you all. My heart is breaking right along with yours. Do you know if they've done an EEG test on him yet? This test checks for brain activity - if the brain is still "firing" there is still hope! I'm so glad you mentioned Angelica - I didn't realize he has a 12 year old daughter. It is always, always the roughest on the kids - they just don't understand how a parent can be there one minute and tragedy strike the next - I don't wish that on anyone! I will be saying extra prayers for her tonight and will pass the update on to my sister. I will be off and on tonight and throughout the week-end so I'll be checking for further word.
God bless you and your family at this difficult time in your lives! May His love see you through whatever may come and may His will be done. Much love!

Thank you so much Suzi..he also has a daughter with his wife..Michelle is 9 (I think) It was a battle for Doug to get custody for Angelica...he finally did and now this...It's just so sad. It is difficult for adults to understand why things like this happen...I can't even begin to imagine what his children are going through..They did all sorts of tests on him yesterday. I'm sure they did and EEG...The also did a CT scan to see if a recent surgery might have caused the blood clot.My mom spoke with my Uncle this afternoon and he was so broken up that my Mom didn't ask any questions. I do know that he is NOT on lift support....yet..Doug had major heart surgery last year. They had to replace one of the valves in his heart. Although the surgery was a success he recently started to feel ill...headaches, pain in his back, very very tired and pain in his arm (not sure is left or right). But like most of us we just brush it off as a pulled muscle or just a headache..
I guess you never know when God is going to call on you...
Thank you Suzi
Love, Brenda

No, we never know what God has planned for us. I don't know too much as far as life support goes but maybe it's a good sign that he's not on any type of life support. The symptoms you listed sounds like (and I'm not a nurse or a doctor) he was getting the warning signs of the impending stroke. But like you said, we all, at some point or another, brush off our "not feeling good" episodes and don't go to the doctor thinking they will pass. Maybe this will "change" Angelica's step mom, maybe not - but I will pray that it does. Please, if there's anything I can do for you aside from my prayers, don't hesitate to ask!

Thank you. I agree..he probably should have gone to the doctors. I am a try believer is what is meant to be will happen...no matter what..My Grandmother used to say that when your page is turned it is time to go. I hope for Angelica's sake that this does change her stepmom...It's just sad that something like this has to happen to change the way a person is.
