Linda and I have been best friends for over 30 years. She knows me like no one else and loves me anyway. She knows what I want to say and what I'm thinking. I love her so much.
My friend has been in the hospital here for almost 2 weeks. Last night they transferred her to Indianapolis. She's not doing real well and I'm so afraid. I've been waiting to hear from her daughter. She will call as soon as the Drs. tell her something. Without going into a lot of detail...Linda is on oxygen. Her lungs are really bad. Worked in a place and was breathing metal shavings and was a smoker. She usually weighed around 125 to 130. She's less than 100 now. In a lot of pain....gallstones. They ran a lot of tests on her last night to see exactly what else is going on and her bowels are blocked.
She needs surgery, but there is a chance she won't make it. I'm so afraid...I'm so sick. I don't know what I will do if something happens to her. I asked God a long time ago to give me some of her health problems so that she may feel better, but he has other plans. I just pray those plans are not to take her yet. I still want and need her and I honestly don't know what I'll do. Please keep Linda in your prayers...she needs them so bad.

OH Janet! I just now saw this thread! I'm so sorry your best friend is going through this right now. It is so hard to see our loves ones suffer. You are such a good friend to offer to take some of her illnesses - not many friends would do that, you know. It sounds like she is in the best of care now, and that she will get the help she needs. Surgery is always risky when there are lung problems involved. But at the best hospitals, they do know how to make the best of a bad situation. It's so sad to know that her work contributed to her lung problems. There is a lot of that in our country and I think employers knew, at some point, the risks they were exposing the workers to - it seems so unfair. I hope Linda gets the care she needs. Please keep us posted!
Janet , Linda is in my prayers and so are you. You are a great friend. Keep the faith and with all these prayers I know God is listening... Take care of yourself to.

Thank you all so much. I went to Indianapolis to see Linda yesterday afternoon. She was in a lot of pain. They ran some more tests and do not think that her bowels are blocked. Just so packed that it's going to be very hard to break it lose. They are going to try, as they have been, to get them to move before trying surgery. If they do surgery, they would need to put her on a respirator, not a good thing for her in this condition.
Her brother, sister and daughter were there, but went shopping for a break. That gave Linda and I plenty of time to spend together. We still managed to get a few laughs in and it was just great being able to spend time with her. She was able to take a few naps while I was there and that was fine.....Just as long as I could be with her and be able to touch her.

What a gift to all of you - her to be with you and visa versa and then to her family to be able to get away from the hospital a bit.
You are a wonderful person!

Linda is still in a lot of pain because of the bowels. They finally inserted a tube for nutrition. She hadn't had anything to eat since last Wednesday and then only popcicles and ice chips. I wish the Drs. would hurry up and help her get through with this pain.

They had the nutrition tube in for just a short time and her bowels moved. They are wanting to "empty" her out, but they went ahead and removed the tube and let her eat soft foods that will continue to let her 'move.' She's still in pain and then her blood pressure went crazy high. Her daughter said they were going to try to get her home soon. I hope the heck they make sure she's ready. They really need to get her gallbladder out, but they are just not sure how she'd do during surgery. Thank you all for your continued prayers.

I'm so sorry she is still in pain. I wish they could correct the problem - maybe with her bowels moving now, that will help a little. You are right though, they probably do need to get the gall bladder out.
My prayers are with Linda.. Your a wonderful friend. God bless you both.

Linda was able to come home yesterday. I am so happy. The new norm will be she'll have these bouts and have to be hospitalized, but hopefully it won't be that often. She's a fighter and has a lot of spunk. I'm thrilled she is home...she missed her grandkids and her Yorkie Lizzie.
