My refrigerator has died after a long, healthy and happy life:rolleyes: I'm off to buy a new one. Does anybody have one with the freezer at the bottom? Do you like it? Any brand preferences?

Geez...appliances have gotten SO expensive!! I bought a new refrigerator AND a new stove. They will both be delivered tomorrow. The fridge is a Whirlpool side by side...the gas stove is a Whirlpool with 5 burners and the whole top is covered with a grate so pans can be set any place. Both are black. Now I guess I'll have to start cooking more:rolleyes:

The refrigerator I really wanted was $1800. The one I got is pretty basic, just filtered water and ice to the door. My icemaker had been broken for about 6 months, so I'm just happy to have ice again, lol! But the stove is pretty cool!

I'll take pictures of my kitchen tomorrow afternoon;)

Yes Betsi, you owe me pix of your painted cabinets. I know what you mean. I bought a new fridge a couple od years ago. We spent over $2000. But I really love it. It's a bottom freezer with French doors on top.

That's what I wondered about... the freezer on the bottom. I almost got one, but I didn't know if I would like it or not:rolleyes: I got a new stove a couple of years ago, but I didn't like it at all. If I have to cook, I want to love my stove, lol!!

I got the freezer on the bottom cuz my mom had one when she moved in with me. She brought it with her. It was hard for her to bend over and search for something in the bottom of the fridge. You get into the freezer
much less than the fridge. So when her frige died we got this really nice one. Now I love the bottom freezer.

It sounds like you got some new things for your kitchen. Yay!! :cheer: We need pictures!!!!

I have a Kitchenaid side by side fridge and we really like it! And I just love my stove.....I got a GE electric with two ovens. I don't know how many times I've told Glen how much I like it!! It also has the glass top!!! I love it! It's so easy to keep clean!! I'd definitely buy another one in a heartbeat!!!

Congratulations on your new appliances!!!! I have an Amana gas stove with the grate all over the top, and love it!! It works really well. Mine only has 4 burners, 5 would be really nice!!

I don't think in 35 years Mike has ever told me I couldn't have something, lol!! He makes the money and I handle it. Good thing, too, because he would have spent every cent we have:rolleyes:

Here we go again, Betsi! Gary has NEVER told me I couldn't have something. In fact, I have to be careful what I mention cause he'll go out and buy it for me, no matter the cost! Except both Gary and I made the money - but I handle all of it! :p

It's crazy, huh? I have to be careful what I mention in front of Mike, too. What sweet guys:)

Good luck with your new appliances Betsi.. I just read this and would have advised you not to purchase a refrig side by side. I had one many years ago and my sis in law just got rid of hers because you can't really put much in the freezer part they are kind of narrow.. But they look good...

I am to going to buy a new refridge because the one I have is over almost 20 yrs.. but it still works lol and I like to get the one like you have Gayle but I have a problem with the size I can only fit a smaller 66 high 34 wide.. they don't make those in that size. I have cabinets over my refridg and I hate to give them up. I am going shopping tomorrow hopefully to find a new one and going with the color black...

I had a side by side before and I liked it just fine. But I also have a chest freezer so my overflow goes there. Mike has back trouble and he didn't want the freezer on the bottom...we are sugar free popsicle fiends. lol!! I hope you have good luck finding just the refrigerator you need!

It's true if you get into the freezer a lot, then bending over is not good. Since our water and ice is in the door, we rarely get into the freezer - so it being on the bottom is good for us. Someone told me that bottom freezers don't last as long, not sure why?? Mom has had a bottom freezer for many years - not sure how many - it's in my garage right now. Yes, we have a fridge in the house and one in the garage. PLUS, we have an upright freezer in the garage too. Waaaaay too much refridgerator/freezer space for two people!
