I went shopping today in Lafayette. I went to the Cato store again that Diana had told me about. Last time I found some nice things for summer and so I needed to go again to find some shirts/tops for fall and winter.
I found three that I wanted to try on (I have to try on everything) and as soon as I tried one top on my cell phone rang. It was my son telling me that Grandma called and sounded a little distressed. No sooner had I hung up from him....Mother called and he was right, she did sound a little upset.
When Mom got up this morning, the dialysis machine only took about 2 teaspoons of fluid off her abdomen and she couldn't remember how to do the manual exchange. So, I hurriedly purchased the 3 tops that I liked and also bought me a watch. Then I drove to Frankfort to help my Mom with the exchange.
I was a little perturbed (sp) because I don't usually have the money or the time to go buy myself something and I was in the mood to shop. Anyway...I went to help Mom and was glad I did. Her stomach was real tight because not much drained out and it was starting to get to her. After we got her all fixed up, she told me she was so glad that she had me....and then my heart melted. I'm glad she has me too and I'm glad that I have her.
Tomorrow I have to take her to Lafayette for an appointment with the kidney Dr. and so she can get an H1N1 shot. Hopefully it won't take too awful long. I always worry I won't get back in time for the afternoon bus route, but I always do. Don't know why I worry so much.

You're a good daughter, Janet! Your mom must have been really afraid, and you came to her rescue.
I like Cato, but I always have to try on everything, too:rolleyes:

You are such a sweet daughter!! Your Mom is so blessed to have you helping her during this time! I'm so sorry that it interfered with your shopping trip though. I know that you don't go very often.....but the trip wasn't wasted because you did find three shirts!!!! Don't you just love Cato's?

Janet, so glad that things worked out. You got your tops, though had to rush, but your mom made up for it. Hope her doctor visit goes well!!

Yes I do love it Diana. I did see some other things I liked, so I will have to go back soon.
You are a wonderful daughter, Janet, and I know you appreciate your Mom too.
I hope you get back to Cato's soon, and enjoy a relaxing, fun shopping day!

I've bought a few things at Goodwill Linda. Their prices are so cheap and then when they have 1/2 price sales it's so worth it. Cheaper than at many garage sales. Since Ricky works at the Goodwill in town, he always lets me know if there is something I mind be interested in.
Janet there is only one word that comes to my mind {WONDERFUL} thats what you are.. :) Make another date to go back to that store and continue shopping
for you deserve it.
Ladies I don't know if you have a Steinmart where you all live but let me tell you they opened one up about a year ago and I just love it there....

I like Steinmart and I also love Ross Dress for Less - I buy 90% of my clothes there.
We don't have that store Gayle Ross Dress for Less :(

I think Lafayette has a Steinmart, so I'll have to check it out sometime. I've not heard of a Ross Dress before.
I love thrift shops! We don't have a Goodwill, but there are 3 great thrift shops in Margaretville, and our library has one in my town of Roxbury. There is a Core Value that everybody goes to nearby and a very fancy "consignment" shop in Woodstock. I have a couple of things to bring over there and pick up a few dollars.
We all go to the thrift shops around here. I love that nobody is in the least bit embarrassed about it! Actually, a lot of people here have plenty of money, but shop there anyway.

Janet I went to Steinmart today had a 20 % coupon on one item. I ended up buying a few tops that were half price got them for 15.00 each and a cute jacket that was on sale to for the same price so for 45 dollars I did pretty well. :)

You did great Gina!! I may have enough clothes to get me through the winter. I would really like to start saving up for some flooring now. Not sure if I'll be able to do it or not, but gonna try.
What kind of floor are you looking to get, Janet?
I went to Core Value Thrift Shop yesterday and bought a nice picture frame and a Melitta coffeemaker. I'll run some vinegar through it and it will be just fine.
Then today, I went for a ride to a salvage place. Got a couple of solar leds for $2 each, and some stuff to stick my plants in when I start filling up the vases.

I'm not sure, but probably not carpet. That's going to be awhile too...lol. I sure wish I had enough money to do what I needed to do and then a little extra do get what I want...lol.

I don't think that we have a Steinmart around here either. I like to go to Cato's and I also like Dress Barn. They both carry plus size clothes. Catherine's is a favorite but it's pretty expensive unless you hit a sale and have a coupon.
Judy, I like to shop those kind of stores too. We just don't have any good ones near us. I guess that's why I go to the garage sales.
Janet, I think that we all feel like that!!!

I know Diana. I don't want to seem greedy at times, but I get this disease I call the 'wants'. lol.
I also have a hard time deciding which is a 'want' and which is a 'need'.

Defining "wants" from "needs" is hours of your life that you will never get back again!
Just assume that you "need" everything! Then see what you can afford, and take it from there. You'll come out exactly the same way!;)
