I thought you might like to see a few pictures of my yard. We are supposed to have at least FIVE more inches of rain before it stops tomorrow night:eek:

Wow...you have some water don't you???? I thought Texas was having a bad drought...is that over now? Sure looks like it could be. I hope it doesn't make it into your home.

First months of drought, and now you have a lakeside home!

Get out the bikini Betsi.

I hope it doesn't cause any damage.

JUDY!!! You crack me up!!!

Actually, we are in great danger of the water getting in our house. It's already in our next door neighbors house. We have had almost 4 inches today, and that was on an already soaked ground. We also have been under tornado WARNINGS off and on all afternoon:eek: They are predicting at least another 5 inches. The water is already twice as high as when I took those pictures. There have been tornadoes touching down everywhere, and half of Carthage is without power...but thankfully it's not our half!

Thanks Gina! We don't have a basement. In fact most people in this part of the country DON'T have basements. I'm not too worried about the weather. The threat of tornadoes is passing, so now we just have to worry about flooding. There is really nothing to do about the water...if it comes in it will just come in:rolleyes: These are the kind of storms we have when the warm gulf air meets a cold front. It just happened to meet right over East Texas!!

WHEW! Betsi! I sure hope the rain STOPS!!!

You would think the drought is over, but we are 30 inches of rain BEHIND for the last 2 years - we are supposed to get 30 inches a year and we only got 15 each year for the last two - so even though we have had PLENTY of rain this last month, it's not nearly enough to bust the drought.

This is the way it goes in Texas most of the time, especially as Betsi said when warm gulf air meets a cold front - storms and RAIN - LOTS of it! It's either feast or famine here it seems like!

Hey now Janet, Diana is always begging for snow in the winter - so hey, if it comes now, then she'd better just enjoy it cuz it may not come back again!!! LOL!

Well. we made it just fine!! Didn't get nearly as much rain today as they were predicting. There is still water over some of the roads, but mostly in the country. Thanks for your well-wishes!!

I'm glad you checked in Betsi! I was getting worried about you and whether or not the water got into the house!!!

Have a great weekend - looks like the weather will be nice for a few days.

I haven't been on for a couple of days!!! Wow!! You had some excitement, Betsi!! I'm so glad that the water didn't get into your home. It's such a mess to clean up. I sure that the tornados were scary.

We went to Kansas City on Thursday so I missed watching the weather to see what was going on. We drove in some really bad rain when we were on the way there, enough that I sure wished that I was home!!! Anyway.....it's all gone and the sun is shining today!! Yay!!!

Betsi, how's your water situation? Did it go down?

Everything is fine! The water went down pretty fast in town. The rivers are still WAY out of their banks and that's causing problems for a lot of people. But the main roads are fine, and we are having a week of much needed sunshine!!

I'm glad that you're water is down but I can sympathize with the ones who are still dealing with it......been there, done that. I'm glad to hear that you're getting sunshine!!!
