View Full Version : Huge Scare!

I just had a huge scare this morning. I still feel a little shaky. When I got home from the bus route, I came in the house to let the dogs outside to potty. It was misty out so I let them out and hurried to the potty myself and then went to let them in.
They were all there except Joey. I called and he didn't come. I went and looked in our small fenced area and he wasn't there. I came back in the house and counted dogs and then ran out to find him. I was in such a panic mode. I ran out and for some reason ran out to the front of the house first before checking the back and I was screaming for Joey. Finally I saw him on the other side of the yard running towards the road. There were no cars coming thank God, but I was in such a state!
He came running to me and was soaked. I was hugging him so tight he squealed a little in pain...poor guy. I just love him so much and if anything ever happened to him I just don't know if I could handle it.
I sat on the living room floor hugging him, crying and thanking God for keeping my little love safe.
I'll pee my pants before I let them out by themselves again.

OMG! Janet, I would have been panicked too! How did he get out of the back yard??? I completely understand (as we all do, I'm sure) how horrible it would be to have anything happen to our babies!!!
I'm so glad he is safe!

OMG Janet.. so glad you found him!! I have done that once before, I ran all around the house in the rain crying, only to find Brutis hiding in his taxi inside the house. I completely understand how you feel about your babies. I'm the same way. And like Gayle asked, how did he get out? Thank God.... he didn't get to the road.

I have no idea how he got out....I'm going to do a better check tomorrow. It is raining and windy to do it today.
Thank goodness you found him right away Janet! I totally understand your feelings. What a scare!!!!
Of course you were scared and rightfully so.. You kidding Gucci hides under the coffee table or under a chair I know she is in the house, but I still panic when I don't see her and start screaming her name and she looks at me as if I am CRAZY!!! lol
Glad that Joey is fine give him extra kisses from Gucci and me.. oxoxo

I really do love this little guy...he's my baby. Even this morning when I think about it, I get a little anxious. I really don't think I could handle it if something were to happen to him.

I'm glad that everything worked out well and you caught him before he got into trouble.
You're going to have a heart attack when you come here and see me open the door and let my two run out!! We live so far off of the road that I don't worry about them running around the yard. Jazzi doesn't leave the yard but Reuger's been known to go a ways from the house.

I would be a nervous wreck thinking mine were out running around without a fence. I don't know how you do it.

We have to be so careful here because of all the owls and hawks. We can't leave them out long, even in the very secure dog run. I'd be afraid to let them have the run of things, even if we were miles from a road. The vet sees lots of small dogs with backs pierced by talons and if the dog is small enough, they can carry them away. I've actually talked to Rex about putting bird netting over our run, but he thinks I'm nuts. He's concerned about the birds, too, but thinks the net is crazy.
Janet, soooo glad you got Joey back so quickly. I know you must have been frantic!!!

I got that net for their ex pen, but I never used it. They hate the ex pen. If I could get one for my deck, I could let them out there alone. We have a lovely dog run here that one of the residents built for his 6 (? or so) dogs. I don't even feel comfortable with mine in it because of the crows.

Oh my goodness Janet I would have been freeeaking out. The fence to our backyard got open one time and I thought I was going to have a a heart attack until I saw Lucas on the front driveway, chewing on a piece of grass.
They sure know how to make us flip, don't they?

I saw a netting once in a seed catalog. It was to put over trees and grapevines. I had wondered if it would be something to cover out fenced area, but I don't think so. We are going to make it larger next spring so I'll just be content to go out with them and keep them safe.
