He's still having quite a bit of abdominal pain when he eats, and he's only eating bland food, but he says it is a little better today. His doctor called to see how he was doing but when I told her about the same - maybe a tiny bit better - she just said, "OK" I thought maybe she'd suggest something that he might take or try, but I guess he'll just have to tough it out! :thumbdwn:

Awww, poor Gary. I hope he gets over this soon. I'm sure that with him in your care that the doctor figured you were already giving him the best care he could get without her help. (Why, oh why, do some of my sentences seem so twisted around? I hope that made sense!!) Tell Gary to get well soon!!!

Hope Gary is much better today. Bland diets are the pits. But if that's what it takes to feel better that's what it takes. Your both in my prayers.

It seems like there would be something to take for it. Doctors:rolleyes:
Did Gary have a good time on the cruise?

I just don't understand some nurses and doctors sometimes. Some just don't have a very good bedside manner...even over the phone. Maybe they just know how good you are and know you'll know what to do.
Get well soon Gary, sorry you're not feeling the best right now.
I hope Gary is feeling better today. How was the cruise did you both enjoy it ?

Gary is a little better today! Thanks guys, for all the well wishes. I made him macaroni and cheese for supper. The nurse called again today and told him to keep eating a bland diet and they would call back tomorrow with the results of his tests! I think he is about to beat this though. I've been giving him LOTS of yogurt with live cultures. I have found that is the BEST for solving gastrointestional problems - you'd think doctors/nurses would know to recommend that!
A couple of you asked if Gary enjoyed the cruise. Well, sort of. The ship was HUGE and so it was a loooooong walk to the dining room, 3 times a day. It's not that Gary can't walk long distances, but it wears him out - so he didn't get off the ship at port (we stopped at 3 ports) expect one time because he was just always so pooped out. He had to nap A LOT in order to feel good enough to visit with his family. But he did have a really good time with them. They played cards a lot, we had lots of fun together at dinner every evening - and then he enjoyed playing slots and cards with them in the casino at night.
He had a good time, but he told me this was his last cruise. Now, after he got this bad GI bug, I'm SURE it is his last cruise!!!

I'm glad he's better! I'm also glad you are in agreement that this was your last cruise. It just makes life much simpler;)
It is great that Gary is getting better. With your care, he will bounce right back, Gayle!
