I got this recipe off YT. I tried it tonight and it was VERY good!
MT. DEW APPLE DUMPLINGS
2 packages crescent rolls
2 large apples, peeled and cut into 8 wedges (16 wedges total)
Roll apples in crescent rolls and put in 9x11 or 9x13 pan (Spray or butter pan)
In saucepan put:
1 ½ cups sugar
2 sticks butter
1 tsp. cinnamon
Heat to dissolve sugar -- DO NOT BOIL - (I melt the butter first before adding sugar and cinnamon)
Pour over dumplings in pan.
Then take 12 oz. Mt. Dew and pour it between rows of rolls (Do not pour over them)
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 min.
I only made 1/2 of the recipe and I used Splenda instead of sugar. The butter splenda mix looked kinda funky in the pan when I melted the butter and then put in the splenda. But it cooked in the oven just fine and the dumplings were definitely sweet enough. I did use full sugar Mountain Dew (only 6 ounces) - but next time I'll use Diet Mt. Dew as I think it would be just fine. I also used the lower fat cresent rolls. The dumplings were really good. Gary really liked them and so did I.
