literally! LOL!
I was walking from the kitchen to the den. I was carrying a small plate of mashed potatoes and corn. My toe caught on the door jam and I fell forward on to my belly right into the den. Thankfully, the only injury I sustained was s skinned knee.
But let me tell you, when you fall face forward with a plate full of mashed potatoes, they go EVERYWHERE! I had mashed potatoes all down my arm, between my fingers, down my leg, and on my shoe. Thankfully, the floor in the den is concrete, so after I picked up all the corn - I could just mop up the mashed potatoes.
Gary was sitting in the den and was about 3 feet from where I landed. I was laughing so hard, and after Gary determined that I wasn't hurt, he started laughing too. We were laughing so hard, I couldn't get up. Today is his birthday and I had fixed him a special birthday dinner including corn and mashed potatoes.
He said to me, Well, that was entertaining, but you didn't have to do acrobatics for my birthday".
LOL! I am still laughing, but oh so thankful, that I didn't break anything!!!

OMG Gayle! Thank goodness you are ok and you didn't break any bones! So glad you and Gary could laugh about it and didn't have to call 911 lol! Does this mean he didn't get the mashed potatoes for his birthday?:D

Oh Gayle....I was laughing reading your story...you told it with such humor. I'm so glad you weren't hurt. Actually I'm shocked you weren't since your floor is concrete. It's good you both had a good laugh....I just hope you're not too sore tomorrow.

The mashed potatoes must have cushioned your fall, lol. So glad you weren't hurt, and the mess wasn't too bad. Be careful up there in Austin!!

Actually, the mashed potatoes and corn were for me - Gary already had his plate! LOL!
That stinker, he called my daughter (who lives about 10 minutes away) and told her to come over and make sure I was OK. I was so surprised when she walked through the door and asked if I was OK.
Yes, Janet, I will be sore tomorrow, I'm already feeling it all over! And it is a good thing I fell completely forward (on my stomach) or I could have really hurt something if I'd hit the concrete floor with my knee, hip, or arm (shudder).

Hey everyone, just to let you know that I am OK this morning - not even sore, well maybe just a tiny bit.
I took 4 Advil before bed - wonder drug!
I'll try to be more careful today! :D I'll need to be, it's 45, windy and rainy! YUK! This is our first NASTY day of fall so far.

Oh, Gayle, I'm so glad that you're alright!!! What a scare to fall on the cement!! However......you had me laughing as I pictured you on the floor with mashed potatoes and corn all around....and...on you!!!! Tell Gary that his birthday gift was laughter!!! Again....I'm glad that you're ok!!!
Good that you are okay today, Gayle! That is good thinking, to fall on your stomach, or did it just happen that way?
Happy Birthday to Gary!!!! As long as you can laugh, you are still young at heart!

It just happened that way. Since I had the plate in my hand and I started falling forward, there wasn't anything to do but "just fall". LOL! Yes, Gary and I do lots of laughing!!!

Oh dear, so sorry you had a fall - i have done things like that myself, but dont you find that it seems like slow motion when you are falling? but you cant do anything to help yourself.....just land in a heap.
Glad you are not seriously hurt - it must have been really funny though, i also cant stop laughing if someone trips or falls, it is tough especially if you are trying hard not to let them see you laughing...

How ya doing Gayle? Are you sore from the fall? I hope not, but wanted to check on you. The older I get....the more afraid of falling I am....and the pain.

Oh Gayle I'm so glad to hear you are ok, but I have to laugh at the same time, I can just picture you lying there with your mashed potatoes & corn all over. LOL
Happy belated birthday to Gary

I am feeling fine, ladies! Oh I have had to take some Advil a couple of times a day, seems I have a few extra aches and pains, but they should be better by today or tomorrow!
Thanks so much for checking in on me - the crazy mashed potato lady has lived to strike again - NOT! :D

I'm glad that you could laugh - it was not a pretty sight, but it was pretty funny! :D Fortunately though, I am OK! I have low bone density and I take Evista for my bones, thankfully, it seems to be working! LOL!

Aren't we extraordinary machines? The wear and tear our bodies endure.
I know what you mean about laughing! I fell two days ago, and I threw myself even more forward so I wouldn't land on my nephew. I banged right under my knee and I knew instantly that I would have a bruise, which I do now.
My sister was sitting in my living room with her other child and she thought her son fell lol
Mashed potatoes must have been interesting! LOL So glad you didn't hurt anything though Gayle
