Born about 5:30 this morning! Halle did just fine! Mama and baby seem to be doing great! Needless to say I got little sleep last night. She made sure I knew when it was time. I didn't even know the sex of her until just a while ago. I'm just leaving her alone and letting them get comfy together:) I am curious to see how much she weighs though. She isn't any bigger than the litter of four we had last year. She is soooooooooo sweet! I'll take pics in a few days and post them.
Just thought I would let you girls know that I have a new granddaughter;)

Thanks girls!! Okay!! I'll take a picture of her tomorrow!! I haven't really bothered her and Halle much today. Halle has slept alot. I'm sure she is worn out. Everytime she gets out of the bed, the baby whines and right back in she goes. She is such a good mommy!

Janet do you think I should give Halle a pet cal? I did the last time. But there were four of them. I just wandered with only one if she would need the supplement. She looks to have plenty of milk so I haven't given her any yet. She has eaten a little bit of kibble today and has had water and of course a treat:p I think I'll go out tomorrow and get puppy food for her to eat. And probably some cottage cheese and/or yogurt.

You know Paula....a lot of the people on YT say not to give extra calcium but my Vet has me give my mothers 1/4 of a tablet of PetCal as soon as we know they are pregnant. I told him what they said on YT and he said there was no way the HE wouldn't give it. They need it for not only their bones but for the puppy development. I've followed his advice and have never had a problem.

You'll think I'm crazy, but I really baby my mom's after whelping. They get scrambled eggs for breakfast with some of the whelping pudding. For lunch they get canned food with some whelping pudding and then for supper they get canned food, whelping pudding and some grated carrots....lol.

I knew you all couldn't wait to see so.................here she is!!!!!

Oh Paula, she's precious, i can just smell that puppy breath!!!

here's a recipe for you, don't forget to cut it in half

Large pkg. of Vanilla pie and pudding mix (cook kind)
1/2 c. sugar
4 cups milk
4 egg yolks.

Cook on low heat stirring constantly until thick. Give it to your mom at body temp. This will not cause diarreha so she can have all she wants. If it is the first time she has had it or seems to not like it, put some in some wet food for her.

I usually give mine about two tablespoons a day in between their other meals. I also cut the recipe in half because it makes way too much.

Paula she is just so sweet!!!! Are you keeping her...have you named her?

Here is another recipe....

Whelping Pudding

16 oz. water
1 pkg. Knox Gelatin
(micro. to disolve)
15 oz. can evap. milk
2 tabls. vanilla yogurt
2 egg yolks
2 tabls. white corn syrup
mix all ingred. in bowl let set in fridge
until thickens. Spoon out as needed.

If you use the one that Lynne posted....be sure the sugar is dissolved completely. I use both recipes...just depends on how much time I have. The one Lynne gave is from Dee (SugarsMom) and this one is from Mardelin on YT.

Thanks Janet. That is the recipe I used when she had her last litter of puppies. I went ahead and made Lynne's, I have not been feeling good, chest cold or something. I didn't go out today but I had everything to make the other recipe. She had a scrambled egg this morning. She isn't coming out much. And when she does, it is only for a few seconds. I wander if it has anything to do with there only being one baby? As soon as it whines a little bit, she is like a streak of lightening getting back in with it. With her last litter, she would come out and eat and get water but this time she is different. We'll be going to the vet on Tuesday. She acts fine just isn't interested in leaving the baby. Last night she jumped up in my chair and no more than sat down and was off like a light to her baby.
Since I have only had one other litter, I don't have alot to compare to so any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if I will keep the baby or not. I am going to be super attached! I don't need it but.........who knows? I'm thinking of calling her Laci. I thought that would be cute since I have a Lucy.
When Halle had the other litter, I gave all of them a name. They were Sophie changed to Jazzie by her buyer. Gizzie changed to Willow by the buyer, Layla they kept her name, and Lucy who I kept.
