We had a really nice time on our trip. The first two days were rainy, cold and windy. Beginning on Wed the weather was just perfect. Of course that was the day that Eric and Heather had to leave. We stayed at River Plantation RV Park in Sevierville, Tn which is just at the edge of Pigeon Forge. There is a pkwy that runs through Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. I think it's about 5 miles long. It feels like all the same place to me but they are 3 separate towns:rolleyes:
The first evening we drove up to Cades Cove, there is a road that you take through the Smoky Mtns and it is a wildlife reserve. We saw lots of turkeys, deer, a gray fox and 2 black bears up in a tree. I took a pic but it is out in a field and my camara just isn't the greatest so you may or may not be able to tell what they are. I can zoom in on them on the computer and tell what they are. Heather has a really good camera with a lens that can zoom in really close so her pix of the bears is alot better than mine.
The second day we kept Ryan while they went and checked on their wedding chapel that they have reserved for Nov. They are getting married Nov 2. They have rented a really nice cabin for the family to stay in and they are treating everybody to Texas Roadhouse for the reception. That is a steak house for anyone that doesn't know.
After the kids left on Wed, hubby and I shopped at the outlet mall. I found some really nice pics for my dining room at Kirklands. I love that store and we don't have one around here. I also got a new tablecloth and a runner for my table.
We ate way too much the whole trip. Anyways here is some pix.:)
#1 A turkey crossing the road
#2 Deer in a field.. Aren't the mtns beautiful?
#3 Bears in a tree.. I hope you can tell what they are
#4 Ryan't first bath in a camper sink:D

It was really cool Janet! As many times as we've been there, we had never driven up to Cades Cove. I'm really glad we did! We were talking on the way there that we could have driven a shorter distance and seen them in a zoo but that is not even close to how cool it is to see them in their natural habitat. I heard somewhere that the Mama bears stay in the dens with their cubs until May. I'd like to go back there again because it wasn't May yet when we went. We might see even more bears:D
BTW could you zoom in on the pic and tell that it was bears? I hope so. I'm gonna have to buy a better camera.

My 2 favs are of you and Larry with the baby, and Baby Ryan having his bath in the sink! He is just beautiful!

The campsite looks like a nice place. I just got nostalgic for my camping days looking at that picture! What beautiful scenery! I had no idea bears could climb so high! We have black bears here. They are smaller than the browns. I don't know if I could tell they were bears if you hadn't have told us.

Glad you're back:)

The photos are great Paula! I know you had such a good time. I love the wildlife photos and yes, i could zoom in and tell it was bears in the tree. I've seen lots of bears, but never in a tree like that. The picture is soooo cool!!!

I can hardly wait to go on our camping trip. We leave in about 3 weeks! We'll be gone a couple of weeks to the White river in northwestern Arkansas. We won't see any bears, but maybe some deer, turkey, and LOTS of TROUT! :D

Looks like you had a wonderful time!!! That is such a beautiful part of the country. You are so blessed to be in such a gorgeous area!!! We're planning a vacation later in the summer, but we won't be camping, just driving and staying in hotels. We're headed to the Atlantic coast. Hubby is from Baltimore and want's spend some time in Virginia, Maryland, DC and Pennsylvania. We'll be taking both daughters and one SIL. Our SIL has never been to this part of the country, so we're anxious for him to see it. Wish our other SIL could go with us, but Lord willing, there will be plenty more trips. Just hope his wife, our oldest daughter enjoys herself. We know she'll wish he were along.

Your son and his fiance look very nice and Ryan is sooooo cute!!!! You have a very nice family.
