It's easy to feel overwhelmed with all you've got going on. But you will get through it - if I did it - you can do it too. Just keep plugging away and before you know it you'll be moved in and things will be back in order.

Yesterday, Scott had oral surgery. They cut open his gums to take out wisdom teeth that were growing sideways and impacting his other molars. Since I can't take time off work yet, my grandma took him in. She called me when she got home and seemed surprised that I wasn't off work until 5. She said they'd try to deal with things there until then. I thought Scott had told her about that but there was nothing I could do. When I got there after work, I realized the problem. I had no idea her water was shut off all day because they were doing work on the sewer lines! The whole street in front of her place was ripped up. Scott had been throwing up when they got home and they couldn't even flush the toilet. I felt really bad about that.
I got Scott home and tried to get a handle on his medications. Gayle, you might know, can he take penecillin and ibuprofen at the same time? He's on both of those, and I know the ibuprofen is supposed to be 3 times stronger than regular. He also has oxycodone for if the pain gets too bad, but he just took one of those so far, before bed last night. The penecillin and ibuprofen are every 6 hours, and the schedule for the ibuprofen means he has to get up at 1 am. I wasn't sure yesterday about anything so he took the penecillin an hour and a half later and then had to get up at 2:30 in the morning again for that one. He has to take these for a week, and if he can take them both at once it would really help me sleep a little better! That alarm wakes us both.
Anyways, I made him some chicken broth to drink last night and made some Jell-O before bed so he can try to get some of that down today. I feel so bad for him!
It wasn't until I was going to bed that I remembered I have a bank meeting right after work today and I haven't had a chance to go over my finances to figure out what I need to change around. Oops! I have a job to get out today at work and tomorrow is my day off. I'm counting down the hours!

Jaci had her wisdom teeth taken out a while back so I know what you're going through with Scott. Jaci did pretty good and by the next day was almost herself again and she doesn't handle pain well.....hopefully Scott will get along as well as Jaci did.
Sandy, I know that you're excited about your house but if you can....take your time and don't get too stressed. Stress takes a lot of the fun out of things. Hugs!!
Gayle, I had to laugh at the thought of you wrestling Gary to the ground to get him to wear his oxygen!!! I'd like to see that one!!!! I'm sure that packing to go with Gary is a lot like going with a baby......you feel like you have to take everything even if you might not use it.......just in case!!! You'll have a blast once you get there!!! I hope the hunt is successful for Gary as well!!
Jessica.....good luck on your tests. Gayle had a great suggestion about talking to the teacher about the test and knowing what parts to study.
Janet, It sounds like eerything is going pretty good on cleaning your Mom's house. Sometimes when the auctioneer has a small auction he'll put two of them together so more people will come. You might want to check and see if that's a possiblility.
We're home.....we're home!!!! We had a great time in Eureka Springs with the seniors from church!!!! I ended up being the youngest one.....with my bil, sil, and our pastor and his wife being close to our age. The rest were older but sill a lot of fun!!! We went shopping after we had checked into our motel. Then we went to a music show in the evening. It was good and the performers were so talented at playing so many instruments but there was one man that really stuck out and he sang "Arlington" that's sung by Trace Adkins and he sounded JUST like him!!!
The next day we drove around Eureka Springs and went to a hotel that was haunted. No, we didn't see any ghosts....nor did I expect to....but the design was just beautiful and I enjoyed seing the antiques around it. It was the Crescent Hotel.
Then we drove out to the Passion Play and took a walking tour where people dressed up as characters from the Bible did a little talk about themselves. It was soo hot but so interesting!!! We also saw a Bible museum that was there......and they had some Bibles from the 1500's and one page from an original Guttenburg Bible worth $100,000!!! There were other rare Bibles there as well. I had a man that worked there come and tell several of us about them and it was so interesting!!
After that we had supper there in a dinner theater....then another group sang and did comedy!!! They were better than the first group we saw the day before!! The man that I thought was so good was a part of this group as well. He works here then goes to the other place and sings again!! Again he was awesome and I wondered why someone with so much talent was working in such a small town like Eureka Springs!!! After supper we listened to a couple of others dressed in costume......one was David as a shepherd boy and he gave demonstrations on using a sling!!! Another gave a demonstration on pottery and compared it to how we are like clay.....molded by God. Very good!!!
Then we watched the Passion Play!!! It was just awesome!! It was the first time that Glen and I had seen it. It's an all outdoor play about Jesus' last days and is played out in a valley and hill across from the seating!!! Just awesome and highly recommended if you're ever there!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeDF4iS8Bk8
The next day we went and saw the Chist of the Ozarks statue by the Passion Play. We didn't have time to see it the day before. Then we drove out and went to Onyx cave. It wasn't very big but still interesting. We drove through Joplin and looked around at the devestation and rebuilding. They are rebuilding and still cleaning up. Whole neighborhoods are gone. So sad but you can see that in time......like years.......they'll be up and going again. It's just amazing how some houses were gone but every once in a while there'd be one that just had minor damage.

Regular day for me. Still having problems with a couple of my girls, so I'm about to offer changes to their managers.
Jeff's having animal issues at his farm, so he's only driving down for the night and a couple hours on Saturday, to get everything finished up so I can move.

Lindsay,
Yes Scott can take ibuprofen and penicillin together - if - his stomach can tolerate both at the same time. I hope he is feeling better today - the throwing up was from swallowing blood and from the medication they gave him for sedation or anesthesia. Hopefully, he is feeling much better today.
Diana, it sounds like you had a great time. I jsut love Eureka Springs!!! I wish the weather had been cooler for you.
Sandy, I sure hope you get moved soon!

Diana, that looks like a cool play to see! I'm glad you had fun!
I was okay the day after I had my wisdom teeth out too. I ate Christmas dinner a few days later :D Scott had worse problems than me though and it was a little more extensive. Since his teeth weren't through the surface, and never would be (they were literally growing directly sideways through his gums, and would never grow up and out of his gums) they had to open the gums right up to get the teeth out. Yesterday he was in bed all day, but wasn't nauseous at all. He ate some jello, some apple puree, and some tomato soup. This morning he said he's feeling much better.
Thanks Gayle, I will let him know he can take both at the same time. We'll see how it goes!
As I posted in my other thread, I am considering leaving my new job  I just don't know. The first week was great, but since then I've just been feeling more and more like it isn't the right fit. I don't know!!!! My career is in high demand right now so I don't know if it's worth sticking around in a place where I'm really not as happy as I think I could be. Leaving my first job gave me a little courage I think! The other offer I considered is still posted in that company's job openings, and the other interview I had at Scott's company did go well, I found out, but he knew I had already taken another job. I sat with him for supper at Scott's company's golf tournament last weekend, and he told me if I am not happy at my new job, he is still looking..

Lindsay, I'm so glad you checked in - sorry life has been so hectic lately - it will surely slow down sometime. Did you find anything at the bridal weekend? I think I remember from FB that you were going. Take care! Hope things get better.
I forgot to reply to this part :) The wedding showcase is this Sunday! It turns out a few friends from my hometown who are also getting married next year will be coming to the city for it too. There is another bigger one next weekend too. I have to register and pay for that one though, while this one is free. I sent my cousin (bridesmaid) a message asking if she'd like to come with me, next weekend if she has no other plans and doesn't have her kids for the weekend, but she didn't get back to me so I guess she's not interested or is busy. My matron of honor is having her son's birthday party 5 hours away so I can't ask her lol! I may end up dragging Scott along

Lindsay I would definitely leave. Life is too short to be miserable at your job. If the other place told you they are still looking, then I'd jump on it!!!!!

Didn't really do much today. Ran the route and then after I got home at 4 I went to town to the lawyers office to pick up some papers to transfer Mom's money to an estate account. That's all done now so I can start paying her bills that have come. I plan on doing that in the morning.
I've come down with either a bad head cold or allergies. The gravel roads that I drive down are so dusty and whenever I stop at a stop sign all the dust comes into the bus. I'm taking some over the counter stuff, but not sure if it's working yet. My head is all stuffy and I just feel tired.
Still not sleeing very well. Part of it I know is my fault...lol. For instance I went to bed last night around 8 and woke up at 11, 1:30, 3:00 and again at 5. Not much rest. Hopefully I'll sleep better tonight.

I'm in Oklahoma tonight. We had a nice drive up here. We took the back roads and went through a million little towns, well 12 at least. It takes a little longer but definitely more interesting than zipping up the interstate. We stopped and bought some chocolate at this amazing little store. I'm tired but not sleepy yet. It's only 9:00PM, and mom is sound asleep.

Janet, try taking some meds like Tylenol PM or there's an ibuprofen PM. I took some of the ibuprofen PM while we were on our trip and I slept so good but not hard enough that I had trouble waking up in the mornng. Maybe you should get some over the weekend and try it before you take it on a work day. It would help you get some much needed rest.
Gayle, I hope you have a good time on your trip with your Mom!!! We bought some sugar-free chocolate in Eureka Springs and I soooo wish that I would have bought more of it!!! It was sooo good!!!!
Lindsey, I agree with the others......if you're not happy with your new job and there's an opening at another place that you applied.....then go for it!!! No reason to waste your time where you're at.
Sandy, I hope you get a lot done this weekend on your home!!! I can't wait to see pictures after you move in!!!
Today I ate a late lunch and my blood sugar dropped on me enough that I was shaky. I hate that feeling and today it pretty much drained me. I finally perked up after 2 or 3 hours. I think that by not eating any carbs it takes longer for the blood sugar to come back up. I did check it soon after I ate and it was much better but the feeling of being low lasted a lot longer.
That sounds bad, Diana! Do you carry a sucking candy or a juice with you? I remember people with diabetes doing that.
Hope your trip is good, Gayle.
Janet, I am not surprised you are not sleeping. Maybe a long walk before bedtime would help. All of the adrenalin you have had in your body lately has to work its way out, and be replaced by calming chemicals your body makes. Exercise does create some calming hormones.
Linds, I haven't read your job posts yet. I'm sorry to see that you aren't happy.
Sandy, how is the house coming along?
I haven't been on for about a week! I've been busy and also making the transition from summer to fall. My friends are gone, the pool closed on Tuesday, and it is not summer anymore!
I went for my last swim on Tuesday, and said goodbye to the pool. All of my bathing suits are washed, and so are my pool towels. I took my plants inside, and the hummingbird feeder has to be washed out and put away. I bought winter bird feeders, but I have to wait until bear hunting season is over before I put out any feeders.
It is, as usual, so beautiful here. The leaves are changing, and there is no other place I would want to be in the fall.
I went to Cobbleskil, a town about an hour from here, yesterday. The flood has ravaged some towns. You can see houses leaning on their sides because the water eroded the foundations. Whole towns have been wiped out. The road crews are out, repairing, all over the place. Coming from NYC, where road work takes years, if it is done at all, I am so impressed with how quickly repairs are
done here. On my trip, yesterday, I saw a field of corn completely wiped out. I remember seeing them planting that field in the spring or early summer. All of that work! There are wooded areas where the trees have all been knocked down by the flood. Nature is amazing! Trees that were there for years and years, all down, with their roots pulled out. The trees and land will take care of themselves, but there are many people whose homes have been wiped out. They have no money, and these families are who I worry about. Where do you go up here when your home or your trailer has been washed away?
I'm in two writing groups. One overloaps the other because of the flooding. I don't like this schedule, but I love the writing groups. I have to call my pottery teacher, and go get some of my work done over there. I had put away all of the things I had wanted to do in the house for the summer. It's a good thing I did that, because I really am not sure now what I want to get done. That summer break put things into perspective, and now I am looking at things with a new eye.
The kids are good; back in school, and doing their usual. Steve is as grumpy as always. Jessie has been having really bad headaches, and I am worried that they might be new symptoms of her MS. She will go to the doctor before long if they don't go away. They could be migraines, or stress headaches, she says. I worry about her all the time.
I'm going into town today to read something I wrote at an art gallery opening, along with other writers. It should be fun. I hope they have good food there!
I have been keeping my weight down, but it's up to 130, from 128.5 or 129, so I will have to cut back a bit. I have added fruit, more veggies, and this week, I am adding dairy. Next, I get to add grains, and that's about it, I think.
Janet

Take some pictures please Judy....I just know it has to be really beautiful there.
Today...I woke up tired, didn't sleep well again. I got busy anyway and rearranged my bedroom and put some of the plastic tubs of Mom's things that I want to save in a closet until after everything is out of her house. It looks really nice, but boy am I pooped!!! It's only 6:30 and way too early for bed, but I'm soooo sleeply. I'm taking your advice Diana and taking a Tylenol PM tonight. Hopefully it will help.
Tomorrow I'm meeting my older brother Jerry in at Mom's to bring things down from the attic. We cleaned out and boxed the items in the living room so now have room to bring stuff down. There are a few things I'm anxious to see and bring home. My younger brother has yet to help do anything. He did come Friday and went through the old 45 records to see which ones were his and that was about it. The three of us made plans to meet on Sunday, but Brad called Jerry and cancelled. Jerry wasn't too happy with him. Told him that we were going to go ahead and box things up and he could just buy what he wants. Brad seems to bring out the worst in us. Brad still doesn't call me...only speaks to me in person.
I really wish all this was done. I'm ready to change jobs. There was an ad in the paper for a secretary (my skills) at the Sewer Dept. but I need to get all this stuff done first. Mom's monies were all transferred to an Estate Account so this morning before I rearranged my room...I paid all her bills that were due.
The last few months we sat down and did them together....I felt really alone and missed having her here to tell me..."you just fill them out, I'll sign my name"....LOL.
Just a quick question....I've been keeping track of what time Jerry and I spend at Mom's going through things and cleaning...can we charge that to the estate? Jerry is upset that Brad will inherit the same as us and not do any of the work.....me....I don't really care....I'm counting on Karma to bite him in the arse!!

Judy, you are so busy and doing so many fun things!!!
Janet, things will work out for you - just look at Sandy! I know it sucks right now, but in time, everything will be better.
I drove about 11 hours yesterday, about 700 miles, but I am so glad I got home yesterday. Today I have the whole day to get ready to go to Colorado day after tomorrow. I've been to the grocery store, washing, packing and getting Gary's medical stuff ready to go. FIFTEEN oxygen tanks, oxygen concentrator (pick that up tomorrow), oxygen tubing, insulin pump supplies, insulin and back up insulin (in case you drop a bottle and it breaks), insulin pens and needles (in case the insuliln pump stops working and you have to give insulin shots), nebulizer and nebulizer medication, 10 days of daily medications (we won't be gone that long, but I like to have extras), medications for headache, cold, cough, etc. (we'll pretty much be in the boonies for 5-6 days).
Now, this doesn't count the MOUNTAIN of hunting clothes, boots, long handle underwear, etc etc. Oh, did I mention THREE GIANT ice chests and three suitcases. Like I said before, we will look like the Beverly Hillbillies driving down the road!
I am speechless, Gayle! You are such a wonderful person. You take such care of Gary, and really knock yourself out to make sure that his health issues are taken care of. And, you don't complain! Now, that's love!
You are an inspiration to me. I also cannot believe how much energy you have!

I agree!! I think that you are amazing to do all of this for your husband!!!! BTW.....don't forget the kitchen sink.......you didn't have that on your list!!!!! LOL
Janet, I hope the pill worked. They usually help me.
As for paying yourself for cleaning......I would think that you could......after all you ARE the executor of the estate but I'd check with your lawyer first. You also can take executive fees out for being the executor. I don't know what's fair so again....ask your lawyer. Sounds like Brad is definitely acting spoiled!!!!
Judy....I'm so sorry to hear that your days at the pool are over!!! I know that our pond has been too cool for awhile and I really hated that. Your activities sound like so much fun!!! I'm glad that you've gotten involved in some things that you really enjoy!!!
This last weekend was ........hmmmmmmm.......stressful.......and fun!!!! On Saturday I went to a few garage sales. It was raining.....finally......but I knew that a few of them were inside. I found some shirts for myself. I know that I'm losing weight but still I wanted something "new". Besides Amy will be able to wear them later. Glen watched the kids while I went because Dae Lynn got to finally go up and visit Damon. She said that they had a good talk and she was pleased with how things were going with him (which made today a HUGE surprise to all of us.......you'll have to read my other post.). Being with the kids ALL day is so stressful......but Glen knew that and he came home to help fix supper and help out.
Yesterday after church Glen and I were invited to Jaci and Nate's house for lunch. We took the 4-wheelers and rode all over everywhere!!! We went probably 30 miles or so and didn't make it back until well after dark. It was a lot of fun!!! Being with Jaci always makes us smile because she is such a fun person. Nate is more serious but they balance each other out!!! Jaci is the wild one.....Nate is the cautious one....and that's VERY evident when they are on the 4-wheelers!!!
While we were riding we came across a place that had a greenhouse but there was no house there and the gate was locked. I've been wanting a greenhouse really bad so we found out who owns the property and Glen's going to call and ask them if they'd be interested in selling it. It's not quite as big as I'd really like but it will let me know how much I'll really use one. I've really been getting into growing orchids!!!! They are soooo pretty and right now I have one that's rebloomed and two more that are getting ready to rebloom as well!!! I really hope the man sells it!!!
Sounds like you had a good weekend, Diana. I bet Jaci gets her adventurous side from her mama! Seems like you and Glen are getting along well.
I got out for a couple of errands today. I took the dogs, and then went to the dog run with them. They are sleeping on the kitchen floor right now!
It is such a beautiful day today!!!
Janet

Jerry and I worked at Mom's. It was our second day in the kitchen and Wednesday we'll be able to finish that room up. Then we will have to start in on her camper and that will be about as bad as the whole house...lol. Won't be much longer and then it will be all done.
Mom's car insurance is due the 29th, I'm hoping to get something done with it before then. If we turn it back in (since it was a lease) they will charge the estate for the balance. There may be another dealer willing to buy it and then we can pay off the balance of the lease and they will be able to make a profit when they sell it.
Tomorrow I have to run to the attorneys office again and then the jewelers. I inherited Mom's ring and had it resized. Well it was warmer and my hand must have been swollen because now it is really loose. I have a few more things to do and then relax at home till the afternoon route. I may even treat myself to a nice lunch.

Sounds like we all had a regular day, except we had rain!!!!
Almost ex is trying to draw divorce out more, but I'm not giving in or playing any more games. I told my lawyer that I'm about to go all country hick tire tool on getting this settled. I'm ok, just aggravated with this. He says I don't get half for the tractor because it was a gift ... He financed it, in his name, mine not involved.
I need to get back on match.com and make my profile totally different ... Looking for a wild man!

He seems to be feeling okay. He is still smoking but his daughter bought him those non-nicotine cigarettes, no smoke, just water vapor and he uses them quite a bit. He gets in a coughing spell at times that scare me, but he comes out of it. I just make sure I do whatever may hurt him. Thanks

I'm glad to hear that things are going well with Jerry. I wish that he was feeling better and am glad to hear that he's smoking the replacement cigarettes.
Have you found anything special at your Mom's???
My Mom's not a collector of anythng much. I don't figure that when I get her things that I'll get any surprises. She does have a nice bedroom suit that was my Grandma and Grandpa's and I've let her know that I want that. It's not antique but it is a really nice set. Other than her jewelry (and there's only 2 or 3 rings) and pictures there's not much I would like to have.

We are in Amarillo tonight. We drove about 500 miles today and have about 350 to go tomorrow. Tired, but happy to be over half way there! We've found a lot of interesting things. Good thing I have an attic and an attic in both garages. I have my Dad's duffle bag from the Navy. In it are 3 set of whites and 3 sets of dress blues and one pair of jeans. All with his name.... Already in a tub in the garage attic. I also have the little jumper skirt and jacket that my Mom made for my older sister when she was just a toddler. She made it out of Dads Navy coat and put the buttons on it too.
I also have diaries my Dad wrote while in the Navy and all the letters he wrote to Mom. My brothers don't want those kinds of things, but they mean the world to me. I inherited ALL the family pictures, but I gave each brother what should be theirs.
When I was little, we use to have our milk, cottage cheese, juice and cheese delivered to the door and it was put in this metal type box with a fold down lid with the Dairy's name on it. Well...back in the corner of the utility closet...I found the milk bottle and Mom had taped the foil top on it. Once the foil top was removed it wouldn't stay on anymore. I remember our milkman...he was so nice. We also use to use the foil tops to get into the movie theater on Saturday mornings for free.
There are just so many things that I now have that are just too many to mention. Items I remember that Mom had on her dresser and just stuck in a box in the attic....a musical powder box. I'm real sentimental so big items like furniture or TV's don't really mean much to me...it's the family items...memory items. The only thing that is really worth anything is the ring Mom left to me in her Will. It was appraised at $2500, but I didn't tell my brothers that. I also inherited all Mom's jewelry and jewelry boxes. She had some very pretty pieces. After I picked out the pieces I remember Mom wearing the most and the ones I just liked...I let my sister-in-law Betty (Jerry's wife) and my 3 nieces pick out what they would like to have.
Mom saved everything...even the newspaper when the war ended.....just so many interesting things.

Hi everybody! I'm so glad to catch up with you all. We just got back from our friends ranch in the Hill Country. We went through Bastrop on the way down there. That's where the huge fire was.. even now it's only 95% contained. It was just horrible to see all of that devastation! There were lots of burned places near the ranch. The closest was probably 10 miles away. Everything there in just crunchy and dusty. People have been feeding their cattle hay all summer and now it is so hard to find. It is going for $160 for a big round roll!! Even the deer we saw were skinny!
We leave our camper down there so Mike will have his own pace to stay during deer season. Mark and Jan live here, but will build a house there in a few years when Mark retires. Meanwhile they have a nice cabin there. They have 200 acres that join 200 acres owned by his brother, so there is plenty of room to roam.

That sounds interesting, Janet. I'm glad that your brothers don't want the sentimental things......therefore there's no arguement about who gets them. Keep all that you want......you can always go through them later and decide if you really want them when you're not so pressured to make a decision.
I did that with my Grandma's things and kept things that I thought the girls might want but she really didn't have much and the girls didn't want anything so later on I was able to get rid of it. I still have some of the more sentimental things though......it's just letting the kids know what it is.
Betsi, I'm glad that you're back!!! I'm so sorry about the fires down there and am happy that your friends' place is alright. Nothing is scarier than a fire close to where you live........I've had that a couple of time when a pasture burning has gotten out of control. It sounds like a nice place for Mike to go and hunt!!!
Hi Betsi! It's so good to see you on here! The fires are so scary. Stay safe! Mike and Gary should get together to hunt!
I wonder when our hunting season begins. I heard that either New Jersey or Pennsylvania are starting early for bear hunting because the ppulation is so high!
The deer aren't out as much now, and I have not seen a bear yet! I want to put out winter bird feeders, but have to wait till the bears are hibernating.
Janet, I am just like you. The sentimental things are what matters. It sounds like you have some wonderful memories and things to cherish. I have my father's army uniform hanging in the closet (in plastic)! Jessie used to wear my mother's favorite cardigan sweater when she was little.
Brandon will get all of my Dad's army stuff as time goes by. I gave Jessie my mother's diaries. I could never read them, but she can, and she loves them! She has learned a lot about me!!!
Maybe you can save some of the children's things for Ricky for when he has children.
It was very nice of you to offer some jewelry to your SIL and niece! Of course you get the good stuff! You took care of her, and you are her daughter.

We are in Colorado and Gary is out hunting right now. He is very very tired from the trip but very glad to be here. I sure hope he gets an elk today or tomorrow!
The area where we are at is not very pretty, but we came through some beautiful country today. I hope to be able to take some pictures of it when we go back.
Gary is willingly wearing his oxygen as he can hardly walk without it. I'm so glad I've not had to wrestle him to the ground to get it on him. We are at about 8000 feet elevation.

Gary didn't see any elk last night or this morning. Thats OK, he will.
He is asleep right now, he will probably sleep most of the day off and on. He is really tired but enjoying every minute of his hunt. He used to come up here to Colorado deer hunting every fall for about 30+ years and he hasn't been up here hunting for the past 8 years. So this trip means a lot to him.

I hope Gary has a good hunting day!!! It sounds like his breathing isn't very good and that's why you didn't have to wrestle him. Personally I would have rather he felt better and you DID have to wrestle him!!! I hope Gary has a great time and it doesn't take too much out of him. At least he has his favorite nurse with him!!!! :)
My Dad was on oxygen but he wouldn't wear it out in public. It got to where he would have to leave quickly and go home. He was just too proud to be seen with it on.
Colorado has some of the most beautiful country!!! I just love driving there!! About where are you at?
Damon is at his sister's now in another town. I was very relieved that he found a place to stay. She has 4 kids and they'll be around the house after school so that should help to keep him out of trouble. It helps make things less stressful now that he's found a place to stay. It's really hard to know that someone close to you is homeless. Hopefully it will be a lesson that he doesn't forget.
Damon called the national headquarters for Teen Challenge and they have a brand new facility opening up in Wichita on October 1st and they have room for him. I'm not sure if the judge will make him go to jail or go back to Teen Challenge. I guess we'll see when he finally gets in court.
I talked to my Aunt Marva and I'm heading there in the morning. She's having a garage sale so will be busy but we'll still have a good time!!! She likes to laugh!!! That's just what I need right now!!!

Gayle...it sounds like Gary is right where he wants to be. I hope that he gets an elk quickly so you all can come home and he can breathe easier. What are doing while Gary is hunting? Any shopping? :)
Betsi...I'm glad you're back too. Sounds like a nice big area for Mike to hunt. Hopefully he'll do great!
Judy, I don't think Ricky will want much of any of what I've saved. Seems like guys really don't want that kind of stuff...lol, just us sentimental ladies. I have already given him things like my Dad's pocket watch, he was thrilled and a couple of Dad's pocket knives.
This morning I cried alot and when I got myself together....I called Diana. Some days are just harder than others.
I didn't go into Mom's today and it felt so good just to lay around the house and not do anything. Well, I did get ahold of an attorney in Florida to handle Mom's place down there, but other than that...nothing. There is a real cool breeze blowing in the front door. I think it's suppose to get down into the 40's tonight and it's very cloudy. Almost feels like winter....BUT IT BETTER NOT BE!!! :D
Rick and Ricky will be at their yearly Scout weekend. Ricky is going for the whole weekend and I think Rick is going Friday and Saturday. Sunday he's has one of those Cowboy Shoot things he does. So I'll have pretty much the whole weekend to myself. I need it, but I hope I don't waste it and sit here and cry the whole time. I'm missing my Mom so much, seems like it is getting harder and harder. I know it takes time, a lot more time than that which has passed, but it just seems so unbearable at times.
With all the stuff I've brought home from Mom's, there is an auction I would like to go to on Saturday. They have a roll top desk I would love to have. Hopefully I can go check it out.

Diana, no Gary isnt breathing very good up here and he doesn't like to wear his oxygen in public either, but he is wearing it all the time here at the hunting lodge and also while out hunting, which surprises me, but I know it's because he can barely get around without it. He is also wearing it in the car too and he has never done that. He won't wear it in a restaurant or store though, its that proud thing with him too. He's OK without it for a little while and as long as he doesn't have to do much walking. It's not good for him, but for the short while we will be up here, he should be OK.
We just went to town looking for Dove Creek, Colorado dried pinto beans. They are THE BEST! We didn't find any but we used to get them not too far from here so I'll drive over there tomorrow or Sat.
Diana, we are in Monte Vista, it is in the southern part of the state, just a little to the east of the center of the state. While Gary is hunting or sleeping, I'm just watching TV, reading, surfing the net, or reading some papers I brought with me. It's not too exciting, but it's relaxing. There are some little shops in town I will visit, and then there is the drive to find the beans. There is a little town about 50 miles from here that we may go visit. It's supposed to have lots of little shops.

Gayle, how long are you there for? My dad just got home tonight from elk hunting! One of his friends got a small one, but my dad and the other guy didn't even see anything. He said it was pretty miserable though, it was cold and raining the whole time and he sounded like he had a pretty bad cold on the phone. They set up camp in the bush in tents, so there's no escaping the weather! That's my dad, the bushman lol. It sometimes makes me wish Scott was more outdoorsy because it's how I always thought men should be (because that's how my dad was!) but of course, there are other things I love about Scott that I don't see in my dad, like how sentimental he is :)
Janet, I'm glad you took a day to relax at home. I think you really need that sometimes!
Diana, I have been following what's been going on with Damon and you are all in my thoughts! I'm glad he has a place to stay, mostly so that you don't feel so guilty about it anymore. I hope you have a wonderful time with your aunt and can stop thinking about all the drama for a little while at least!
I have been soooo tired today! I stayed up late last night to watch Modern Family  because it's my favorite show and I needed some laughs! We got a notice in the mail yesterday that Scott's project truck, his grandfather's 1951 International, is violating a town bylaw by sitting in our driveway. It's in one piece, with just the fenders and lights off (we have them, they're just downstairs) and it's on jacks to be easy on the tires when it's sitting in one spot for so long. We do not have it registered, but it's on our property so it shouldn't matter. Apparently it does. It has to be out of sight, and it needs license plates on it. Scott was sooooo upset about it last night and I was trying to calm him down. It sounded like he was going to call the town office and rip them apart and say he wasn't moving it. I am a totally different person and I always try to be nice about everything. I don't want us to get a bad reputation because we live in a really small town and people don't know us well yet! I know how fast things spread about people in small towns. Ugh. So we ended up arguing about that until past midnight :( Waking up at 5 was not easy this morning. But, we were both in better moods.
Scott has been in lots of pain still from his teeth. This morning, he called the dentist again and they told him to come in, just to check it out. So he went in, and it turns out he had dry sockets where two of his wisdom teeth were removed, so he had them packed and needs to go back next week to have that taken out. He also has a throat infection, which came from me :( My throat has been really sore for the past week. I feel bad for passing it on.
I think I'm going to head to bed right now, before I fall asleep on the computer!

Sorry about the truck in the driveway problem, Lindsay. That happened to us once too. We had a boat in our driveway (that we used frequently) for 15 years, when all of a sudden we got a notice from the city that we had to hide it or move it. We had to take it to a storage place. Our neighbor had a truck he was restoring like your truck and he had to move it into the garage. Can you all put your truck in the garage? we were glad that when we moved this past winter that we do not live in any city limits and so almost everyone has a boat or RV or something on their property.
Oops, I answered you about hunting on your other thread. We will be here probably till Monday or Tuesday. It's kinda boring for me, but relaxing at the same time, so I can't complain.
Lindsey
09-23-2011, 05:39 PM
We CAN put the truck in the garage, but Scott doesn't WANT to put the truck in the garage  It's a double garage and I always told him if he was bringing that truck home and putting it in the garage, his car was going to be outside on the driveway. But after he made a big deal over it, I told him I'll park my car outside. Scott never had a garage in his life until we moved here, so I don't know why it's a big deal now! His car has never had troubles starting, but mine won't start in the winter sometimes if it gets too cold, and it's not plugged in (block heater). So I think it makes more sense to let mine stay inside! Oh well. He can win in the garage if I can win everywhere else :)
He called the town office today to ask if he can just put license plates on it, and if it would be okay then. The bylaw officer wasn't there, so he's supposed to call Scott back as soon as possible. Scott explained that there are parts off it right now because he's trying to get it repainted, but it's a totally operable truck. Technically, the motor is apart too, but they don't know that. I think it does run if he puts it back together, but he and his dad took the engine out to overhaul it.

I hope it will be OK if you get it registered. If not, then it's probably into the garage which wouldn't be terrible, as you said. Many homeowners associations do not allow you to keep a project truck in the driveway, so Scott shouldn't be upset.
Gary still doesn't have his elk, I'm beginning to worry that he won't, but if he doesnt, I guess it just wasn't meant to be. They saw a lot of elk yesterday at dusk, but Gary couldn't see them through his gun scope, so he couldnt shoot. He's going to use the guide's gun this evening if they see them again. The guide has a scope that you can see though at dusk.

I slept so good last night...lol...I took 2 Tylenol PM's and was out like a light. It got pretty chilly here and I love lying in bed snuggled in blankets when it's cool. Made my coffee and ate a bit of breakfast and then headed to town to the auction. I was wanting to see about a roll top desk they had, but once I got there, I didn't really like it. It was too long and bulky looking for my home. My younger brother was there with his wife. We spoke for a minute and then I headed back home.
It was nice having the house to myself. It was raining and thundering and the whole house looked a little dark. I like being able to have the windows open a bit so I can hear the rain....so peaceful. I ended up cleaning out some drawers in my dresser and moved some things around and then went to the kitchen and rearranged some of the cabinets. I had brought home some bowls and things from Mom's and just needed to tidy the cabinets up a bit.
Then took my shower and have been lying around reading some magazines. In a minute or two I will head to the kitchen and fix a bite of supper. Just not sure what I want yet.

That sounds like a great day, Janet. I love days like that in the house by myself! You deserve some peace and quiet. I hope you have more days like that!
Gary and I went to the little town where we are staying. He wanted to go to a sporting goods store, but thankfully he didn't buy anything :D. I went to a bead shop and looked at some of the necklaces and bracelets, but didn't buy anything either.
Gary is out hunting now and I am watching football. It's been a pretty quiet and relaxing day.

We had the girls for a sleepover last night. I thought my brother was picking them up this morning, but he kept saying it would be a little later, and a little later. They were bored so I took them to the park while Scott sanded the deck. It was so warm outside, and they wanted to stay inside, so I did what I could to get them out! The neighbor kids wanted to play when we got home, so that took some attention from me and I stained the little deck and posts around our back shed. By lunchtime, my brother still wasn't coming, so we had some soup, got them to clean up their stuff, and told them to go play with the neighbors again. By about 3:00 it was getting so hot, they all wanted to come in. We're having a weird heat wave here and it's so much hotter than it should be! Anyways, we had a few extra kids in our house so they watched a movie, and Scott had to go upstairs a few times to get them to calm down. They were running around, yelling at each other, and punching the projector screen. It made me think I'm not ready for kids! But maybe it's different when they're my own. Anyways, they finally all went home at 5, and I had a long nap on the couch!
Tonight we just watched tv and gave Layla a haircut! It's 1:00 am and I should be in bed now. We have to get up early, teach someone to express Layla, go to church, hopefully ask the reverend if he will marry us next year :) and then go to the city for the bridal show, if I can get someone to go with me! It's going to be a long day!

Uh oh....forgot to take the Tylenol PM so here I am on my IPad at 3:30 am. It's not so bad though, it's still raining and I love lying here listening to it. Not sure what I'll do today. Hopefully sleep a little later.... LOL.
Rick came home last night so he could get up and go on that shoot this morning. I sure hope the rain doesn't stop him from going. It was pretty nice yesterday and after he got home it wasn't. He kept running in and out and each time the stupid dogs would. Bark their fool heads off, so I just went to my room and spent the evening there reading and watching some TV. I love lazy days, but I also love nice productive days too, not sure which I like best.
Your lazy days sound wonderful, Janet!
Did Gary get his elk yet, Gayle? Are you going to hang the antlers? People are making tables with the antlers as legs, lamps from antlers and so on,
I'm having a womens group meeting here tomorrow night, so I guess I have to straighten up the house. Vicki is coming to clean tomorrow. I'm making delicata squash. It's delicious. You don't have to peel it, which is good!
cut squash lengthwise
scoop out seeds
slice into 2 inch slices
put in pan, sprinkle with olive oil, salt
bake at 425 for a minute intervals, and turn until it's soft (about 30 - 40 minutes, until it's carmelized)
I'm serving it with cranraisins and chopped walnuts.
I'm putting out a dip with crackers, making coffee or tea, and I guess that's it. I'm using paper plates. People use their good dishes, but I only have service for 8. I think everybody likes to show off their homes and their culinary skills when they have a meeting. I like to show off my home too, but culinary skills are not my thing, so it's not like my reputatiom will bne spoiled with pretty paper plates.

Judy, delicata squash is my favorite!!! I just cut it in half and cook it in the oven or microwave if I'm in a hurry. After it's cooked I just scoop it out and add some splenda, a pinch of brown sugar, and maybe a few pecans.
Update on Gary's elk hunt. This morning, for the third time, elk were within his view but he couldn't see them. A couple of days ago I was out with him when it happened and I should have realized that something was wrong right then, but I only thought it odd. Yesterday evening, the same thing happened, and the guide attributed it to low light at twilight. Well it happened again this morning, there was an elk in full view but Gary couldn't see it. I called my daughter and told her and she got on the computer and found out his altered vision is due to low oxygen.
As you know, Gary has to wear oxygen 24/7 up here, EXCEPT, when he needed to get up and try to shoot the elk, he took off his oxygen because it is a backpack and he felt it was in the way. Plus, he was so excited, he was probably hyperventilating, which is even worse for your oxygen. We found out that your eyes are the FIRST organ to be affected by low oxygen. It is a protective response to save your eyes from damage due to low oxygen. They actually call it a "brownout". You lose your ability to see colors, your vision is dimmed and blurred.
Gary had been sitting in the pickup until the guide spotted an elk, then Gary would take off his oxygen, get out of the truck and hurry to the spot to try to (unsuccessfully) see the elk. So this evening, they were going to park Gary in one spot outside the truck. He is going to lay his oxygen bottle on the ground and then I put on a 15 foot tubing, so that if he needs to stand up or move a bit, he can without taking off his oxygen.

Oops, I hit submit before I said that I hope our new plan works better for Gary. I know he has been so frustrated at not being able to see the elk. This morning he came in at 9:00AM after, once agIn, not being able to see the elk, and had a drink. LOL! So unlike him to resort to alcohol for comfort. Then he took a nap and during that time, I discovered it was low oxygen was the reason he couldn't see. He felt so much better after I told him.

Well dammit, he didn't see any elk this evening. He only has tomorrow morning and evening to shoot one. It would actually be easier if he didnt get one, but he will be so disappointed, although I think he will understand that wasn't his or anyone's fault.
Go Gary!!!
You are the most caring wife, Gayle! You both are wonderful together.
He will be so happy when he gets that elk!

Gayle, my first thought was that maybe Gary's blood sugar spiked. Sometimes when Mike's goes high it affects his vision. I want so much for Gary to get an Elk!
I'm spending the day trying to get my house clean. Everything is so dusty outside, it makes the inside dusty. Mike is going to the Ranch to bow hunt this weekend. I'm staying home, but I don't intend to sit here and do housework, lol! We went to the movies yesterday, and saw 2 movies back to back. It was 98 degrees outside, and we didn't have anything else to do!

Poor Gary. I bet he was so disappointed to know that one was in range and not be able to see it. That's an awful situation for a hunter.
Janet, it sounds like you've been getting some good rest. I'm glad because you've needed it.
I had a good time at my Aunt Marva's. She was having a garage sale along with a lot of people on her road. There is a craft show nearby and a lot of people travel the highway near her house to get there and people have learned that there are a lot of garage sales as well. She had sooooo many people stop!!! I think that next year I may take some things down to sell!!! We finally had to close the garage on Saturday because we were tired and so picked over that people weren't buying anyway. She made over $600!!!
We went to a few garage sales on Friday but there were so many people out on Saturday that I didn't even go out because I knew that things were picked over. We did go out to eat at Applebees......it's one of my favorite places to eat.
Then on Sunday we went to church and they have a GREAT praise and worship band!!! I loved it!!! The service was really good too and spoke to me about what I've been dealing with here at home. God is so good!!!
It was good to make it home!!! I missed Dean so much!!! I'm so used to seeing him everyday!!! I feel rested and ready to take on what's going on here again!!!

Life is so good. I got moved, but can't seem to find my energy. I'm about 80% unpacked and slept so very good last night.
A dear great aunt died this morning. She had suffered from severe dementia for many years, but my great uncle kept her home to care for her there. She would physically attack him and he would literally bear hug her and contain her. It was a sad day when I realized she didn't know me. Today is a happy day that she is at rest, but I doubt my uncle will rest. I'll probably make a quick trip to lousiana for the funeral on Wednesday.

Well Gary did not get his elk, but he seems OK about it. He understands that it wasn't his fault. He had 3 great chances, but just could not see them. we both had a good time and Gary found out that he could be up here if he wears his oxygen 24/7. I didn't even have to wrestle him to the ground :D. He still won't wear it into a store or restaurant, but I guess that is OK.

Sandy, I am so sorry about your great aunt. How is your uncle doing?
Congratulations on your move! How wonderful that you live in your new home now!!!
Gayle, too bad Gary didn't get his elk, but as long as he had a good time anyway, I guess it's OK. Betsi, I hope Mike has luck with his hunting. I am impressed that he goes bow hunting!
I drove Jessie down to the city yesterday. She has to go every 3 or 4 months for her pain medication prescription. I was going to go down for her last time, but she got them in the mail. She loves the Amtrak ride, reads her magazines, and relaxes without the kids, but the drive home from the train up here is too long for her. We had such a good time! We laughed all the way down, and then all the way back. We used to be close like this all the time. No matter what was happening, we would figure it out, and then go back to being happy.
We never get time together like this anymore, so yesterday was such a treat!
She had me laughing so hard at stories about the kids, and how she deals with each one. Then, we got onto Steve, who we were rolling around with laughter about! She knows that I really do love him, so she feels safe telling me what goes on. She was so mad at him last week, she told me she was going to kick him out. When he asked her about it later, she told him that she really didn't have the energy to get a divorce, but to not push his luck. He's behaving himself, for now.
It's raining again, and there are flood warnings. I hope not!!! How are the fires in Texas?

1.I just really loved the color of this yellow aspen tree
2. See the back of the drive-in movie screen? Look beyond it and you will see the top row of windows of a motel. It's called the Movie Manor and all the rooms have big windows that look out so you can watch the movie. Yep, there are speakers in the room so you can hear the movie too. BONUS! So unique.
3. Sheep that were out along the road - two guys and a dog trying to herd them. FAIL!

I love the pictures too, Gayle!! Colorado is such a beautiful place to see no matter what season it is!!! Too bad that Gary didn't get an elk. Maybe next time!!! (Did you just groan????)
Judy, what a special time with your daughter!!! I love having time to laugh and enjoy my kids on a one-on-one!! My Mom and I rarely have time like that. She's not a let loose and cut up kind of person. That's why I enjoy my aunts so much because they are not like my Mom.
I don't know what's going on with Dean. I wonder if he's cutting his eye and stomach molars or something because he's been a BEAR!! It's either that or he's very spoiled!!! He stood out on the side of the 4-wheeler and cried at the top of his lungs wanting a ride. I couldn't get him to eat lunch so I took him for a ride but then after his nap we went through it again. When his Mom got home it got worse. Daya came over and gave him a ride which she does every day. I'm wondering if she's the one who's done the spoling!!!! LOL I've given him some Tylenol which does seem to help and makes me think that it may be teeth. He's so cute that it's hard to not do everything that he wants me to!!!! I hope this stage passes quickly!!!!!
We have Homecoming this weekend!!! Tonight is the Homecoming Queen Pageant and my neice is trying out!!! I'm going to try to go but, well, we'll see if I actually make it. That's what Jaci won a couple of years ago. Then on Saturday we have a small home town parade, carnival rides, mini class reunions, a bean feed, a dance, and so many other things going on. The flea market where I have some things will be open and is right down town so today I'm trying to get some things priced and put in........if I can get off of the computer!!!! LOL
I remember when Jaci was Homecoming Queen! She was adorable, and still is! It sounds like a good weekend in your town. Lots of fun, and food!
It does sound like Dean is teething. Is he at the teething age? It will be cold soon enough, so let him run around outside to wear himself out. Cranky babies are so sweet when they are napping! I couldn't say no to him either, so don't feel bad!

Judy, you can see where his eye and stomach teeth are coming. They're not near the surface yet but I think that they're bothering him. When he's on Tylenol he's so much better. He does ask ALL THE TIME to go "Ride, ride, ride"!!! And he asks for Daya because she comes and gives him a ride everyday!!! He loves the 4-wheelers!!!!
Homecoming is a great time in Fredonia!! The stores downtown (on the square) all have displays to go with the theme. I think that this year it's tea sets or something like that so it's always nice to walk around and look. There's also a car show that the men like, kid games, turtle races, the cheerleaders perform, tonight is a football game against a neighboring town that we always play at Homecoming. Last night I went to the Queen pageant......it was really good but my neice didn't win. Based on her performance she should have won but that's actually a small part of their score. Their interview is a major part and we don't know anything about what goes on there......only the performance. Abby does sign language and signed the song..... My Wish by Rascal Flatts. The woman who was the MC did an awful job......I wish they would ask me to do it!! I know that I could do a great job.......I don't mind being in front of people!!
I think that Dae Lynn's taking the kids to ride the carnival rides tonight. She can buy a bracelet and ride all night long and it won't be as busy as tomorrow will be. Anyone who is from Fredonia tries to come back at homecoming because it's such a special time.....if you're not from here then it's not quite as special but it's a great time to see people that you went to school with and it looks like the weather will be beautiful!!!! This is one of my favorite weekends!!!!

It sounds like you're going to have a wonderful weekend Diana. I don't think there will be anything here now until spring. Well...except for Halloween...people go up on the square and have a "trunk or treat". They give out treats to the kids from the trunks of their cars and there is a costume contest and games. I don't usually go...now that Ricky is older.
This weekend I think Rick and I will be at Mom's. Whoever hooked up her stove did a bad job and it has to be redone. Rick knows how to do all that and has all the tools and equipment to get it done. I might go through a few things and make sure they should go in the sale. I still think an auction is a mistake...if the weather is bad, we might as will give the stuff away. I think an estate sale is the correct choice, but I don't want to argue about it.
There is a Fish Fry around the corner from us and I think Rick was given tickets so we could attend. I've heard the fish is really good so it will be nice to find out.
I think I'm going to try a different church on Sunday. It's called Faith Family Ministries. I know a few people that attend and they love it. Very relaxed and welcoming. I like the one I attend, but I don't feel I'm getting what I truly need. That didn't sound right....I guess I'm just not getting the feeling of fulfillment that I would like to have and I don't feel as comfortable there as I should. So I'm hoping this will be what I need.
Hope you all have a great weekend.

Janet, I think its great that you are going to try a new church. I hope you feel more comfortable. I usually don't feel comfortable in any church - bad experiences as a child. Once though, when I was visiting a friend in San Francisco, we attended a church service that was truly amazing and one that I will never forget. It was right downtown San Francisco. There was every sort of person you can imagine in that church, dressed every way imaginable, there were rich people, poor or homeless people, gays/lesbians, punk rockers with neon hair, and hookers (I am sure), and then regular joes like my friend and I. It was the most spiritual and welcoming warm and comforting, place I have ever been. If I lived there, I'd go every week. I think it is paramount that you are comfortable, find support, and spiritual enrichment in church.

Thanks Gayle. When I was younger we went to a church and for some reason, camping I think, Mom quit taking me and my brother. I went back after I was married and taught a kindergarten class and loved it, but it was much different from when I was young. Seemed like everyone was trying to out dress the other. And there was so much talk of money.
I then started going to a church around the corner from us. I enjoyed being with our neighbors and felt comfortable there, just not getting what I wanted...needed....I don't know. I continued to go until the female Pastor was hired. I was not impressed with her sermons or felt much after hearing them. She kept going off from one subject to another and I just couldn't figure out what she was wanting to teach/share with us. I wasn't the only one who felt that way.
I quit going there and haven't really attended any. I do go there from time to time, but I am looking for something different.
At the church I'm hoping to attend on Sunday....you basically 'go as you are'. Everyone is there to learn more, share, and be a family of Christ. If it is indeed like that, then it will be exactly what I've been looking for. We'll see.
I hope the sermon and the church community is just what you are looking for, Janet. Spiritual community, when you find it, is very important.
I joined a Buddhist temple when Joel has a heart attack, years ago. A friend brought me because I really needed it. I loved it and stayed for about 8 years. I changed, and so did the leaders of my chapter, and I left, but I still live a lot of the ways of the Buddhist practice. It really levels the playing field. Like the church you went to Gayle, we had a very diverse group of members. We had a lot of people who were fighting so hard to crawl out of whatever hole they had fallen into, and that was a wonderful thing to be a part of.
Then, they became very rigid about their rules, that this was the best form of Buddhism, that we should get as many new people to join as we could, and, finally, I just felt that this was not for me. I have my own relationship with God. I don't need somebody else's rules for that.
There is a church across the road that a lot of people like. One of these days, I might try it. It's also very diverse, and people feel fulfilled by their connection there.

We are home from the deer lease. We had a good time and the weather was beautiful. We have cameras that watch the game where the guys hunt and there were LOTS of really nice bucks at Gary's stand. He was really excited today when he saw the pictures.
We love the little town near our lease, Goldthwaite, TX. They really cater to hunters and I just love the charm of a friendly small town. I grew up in a very small town and I miss it sometimes.

I'm so bad!! For the first time in a long tome I slept in on Sunday....8:55 am, I'm pretty sure that's a new record for me. I didn't get to go to the church, but hopefully next Sunday. I must have really been tired because I didn't wake up but one time during the night to go potty.
Wasn't sure I was going to have any energy, but later in the day it kicked in and I was able to get a few things done.
Wait Janet, 8:55 is sleeping in
My sleeping in is more like noon

I was so tired today, I just had to lay down for a while when I got home. I still feel very tired. I had a busy day at work, but I guess I'm just not recovered from our travels.
I am really enjoying the cooler weather. It was 58 this morning, and it feels so nice in the evenings after the sun goes behind the trees in the back yard.

Yes Jessica.....that is really late for me. I'm usually up by 6:30 or 7:00 at the latest. Once in a great while a little later, but not by much. This morning I'm going to breakfast with a friend and then a lot of errands. Hope I can get them all done.

Homecoming was so nice!! The weather was just perfect!! There didn't seem to be as many people as usual but that could be because of the economy......it just costs too much to travel. There's always the hometown parade....Feyn's family and Amy's family were all in the parade somewhere!!! Glen pretty much was with me all afternoon....he usually finds some farmer friend and stands in one spot and talks but this time we were together. We went through our town's museum. There are several things in there that are Glen's family's because his aunt worked in the museum when she was alive so it's always interesting to go and visit. We shopped at the few craft booths.....I bought an apron for Karlie and another one for Jaci that had John Deere tractors on it!! I bought a bracelet for me and some clips for Jazzi's hair. Our church youth group had a food booth so I had a turkey leg....it was one of the most tender ones that I've ever had and we bought some extras to bring home!!! Yummm...... We went home about 4 or so. There is also a bean feed but since it's not on my diet we just went home. The rides were pretty expensive and we're not into them so we were done with Homecoming for this year!!
Dae Lynn was off of work on Monday so we went to Wal-mart to get some groceries. It's nice to shop together and plan meals!!! I'll miss that when she leaves!!! We also shopped at Cato's and I bought some clothes a size smaller!! My clothes are really hanging on me but I hate to get new but it's becoming necessary!!! I've bought a couple of pair of jeans on e-bay so I'm anxious for them to come and I'm hoping that Amy will fit into my clothes that I'm leaving. She's having the same problems!! So far I've lost 20 pounds!!! Yay!!!

Wow Diana, 20 pounds is a lot to be proud of!! Way to go! Enjoy buying your new clothes!
I have been so tired lately, and I have no idea why! I sleep in the car while Scott drives to and from work, and I've been napping after work, going to bed early, and sleeping all night!
I'm trying to get ready for Thanksgiving, which is this weekend. I had no plans until Scott's parents asked to come last weekend. That was a little late to plan, but still okay. We invited my grandma too and bought a small turkey last weekend. Might as well! Then without telling me, Scott also invited his sister, her husband, and their son. We may have enough turkey if nobody eats very much, but I don't want to go buy another bigger one now. I'm just stressed knowing I'll be cooking for 8 now! They are all staying over too so I have to go shopping for things to make for breakfast. And there I was, looking forward to a relaxing long weekend!

Well folks, I have poison ivy alll over the right side of my face. I'm sure I got it at the lease. I've never has it before, I was the only one in my family who never got it . I picked up a stick and walked with it for about 10 minutes. I'm betting it was a poison ivy or oak cane. It never occurred to me that it might be poison ivy. I carried the stick in my right hand and then I probably wiped my hand all over the right side of my face.:mad::mad:. It's even inside my right ear, that's one reason I'm pretty sure it was on my hand to start with. I don't have any on my hand though. Weird.
I noticed it yesterday, and it's much worse today. I had to go get some benadryl gel, it was itching so badly. I have class tomorrow evening. I'm gonna be so pretty. Thankfully I don't have any appointments on Friday, so I'll just work at home on Friday. if my face sweeps any more, I'll prob go get some cortisone.

Happy thanksgiving, Lindsey.
Oh, Gayle, that's terrible.
I'm struggling to keep my positivity lately. I can't seem to stay on my stride. On a lighter note: since I don't have a washer/dryer yet, I treated myself to taking my clothes to a cleaners on Monday - towels, underwear and all. Went to pick it up today ... $6.00 to dry-clean my $12 three year old walmart pajamas, even though the ticket says laundry only. Paid $44 for about half of my stuff. My work slacks and undies won't be ready until Friday. No idea why. I didn't realize it's only a drop off place. I actually plan to not pay any more when I get the rest. When they hang it on that rack, I'll let them wrestle me down as I pick it up and walk out. I'm really worried about how much that $8 sports bra is gonna cost me. I could have bought a nice used washer for that much.

Sandy, I would have complained about dry cleaning a shirt that I wanted laundered. You shouldn't have had to pay for that. Sounds like you better invest in a used washer and dryer......and soon!!!! Or else go to the laundry mat to do your washing.
Lindsey.....don't get too stressed out by the company coming. Buy a small ham to go with your turkey. They're easy to bake and you'll have plenty then. Make sure that you have plenty of other food and you'll be just fine. Ask any women that are coming to bring a dish or dessert......let them know what you want them to bring or give them a choice between a couple of things. With providing the place to have it you have enough to get done so it won't hurt for them to help out. Also....use paper plates and cups so clean up is easier!!! Don't stress!!! If you have anything else that pops up let us know and we'll help you handle it!!!
Oh Gayle......I feel so sorry for you!!! I've had poison ivy and poison oak and they're both awful!!! I used to have to go and get a shot when I got it because I would get it so bad! I hope that you find some relief soon!!! Hugs!!!!
I haven't had much going on this week but I'm leaving in the morning for a women's conference in Wichita. Several of our church ladies are going so it will be fun. We have some really fun women!!! On Saturday morning I signed up for a work day in an orphanage or girls home or something. I was told that some women will get to interact with the kids and some will be working and organizing clothes and painting. It sounds like a good time no matter what I end up doing. So I'll be gone for a couple of days.
Damon goes to court tomorrow. We're not sure what's going to happen. Dae Lynn's checked into another program that's only a few months but the cost is more than they can do. I guess we'll see what happens. I'm torn between what I think should be done with him and mad at myself for being fustrated by him. I care what happens but I'm tired of everything that goes with having him around but feel like he will be worse if he's not around us......so hard.

Diana....way to go!!!! 20 lbs is alot to lose. You are doing so great!
Happy Thanksgiving Lindsey....can't believe the time has come for the holidays already. Wish we could put them off for a bit. Like Diana said....let the others brings side dishes and help out. It's much more fun when you're sharing your kitchen with others.
Gayle...I feel so bad for you. I've never had poison ivy, but I have had poison oak all over my wrists (I had gloves on). It was so painful and itchy. I hope you can get some relief from it soon.
Sandy is there something we can help with? To bring back your positivity? I know it's hard at times, but I'll help if I can.
Today after I did the afternoon route Ricky and I headed to the woods on the four-wheelers. It was so nice. I hadn't been to the woods for a year so it was good to go. I love being in the woods during the fall and just sitting watching all the leaves fall to the grown....so peaceful.
Here are a couple pictures of Ricky and I.....

Janet, you look like you are having so much fun! You need to have some fun.
I am feeling a lot better this evening. I went to my nurse practitioner and got some steroids today and they have really helped. Plus I looked up home remedies for poison ivy and found out that you must dry it out and most people use alcohol directly on the blisters. Ouch!!! But it is helping. So I keep doing it. I'm hoping to look less like a gargoyle tomorrow.

Gayle, I'm glad it's getting better! I've never had poison ivy either, but it doesn't sound fun!
Janet, it does look like you had fun!
Diana, Scott's mom is making cabbage rolls and she will also be bringing potatoes from her sister's farm. But the rest is up to us, and we will be peeling and cooking the potatoes here. I asked Scott this morning to help out with cooking too... because now I'm SICK! :( I think I caught a cold from my grandma. She has had it all week, and yesterday morning I started getting stuffed up, and by last night I couldn't even breathe. My eyes are watering, my ears are ringing, my throat is tickling. Ugh. I was going to just stay home today and call in sick but I had stuff to get done at work today... I will probably leave when I get it done. I know I will probably still be sick for the weekend because my grandma's has not gotten any better yet and she's had it longer! Right now I'm slathered in Vick's Vapo-rub, just finished drinking Neo-Citran, and I drank some Buckley's cough and cold medicine this morning. I feel like crap! I wish I could tell everyone not to come, and just stay in bed for the weekend!
Janet
10-07-2011, 09:01 AM
Lindsey....I would call it off. There is no way I would want to do all that and not feel good. Besides...I wouldn't want to come and risk getting sick myself. You really need to give this more thought, or postpone it till the next weekend.
gja1000
10-07-2011, 10:34 AM
Lindsay, I know how hard it is to postpone something like Thanksgiving - but - I would let everyone know how sick I was so that they could decide whether or not to come and expose themselves to your crud. Maybe they will decide not to come! :D That would be wonderful!!! However, they will probably come since plans are already made. I'd just try my best and let everyone know that you are sick and you will do what you can. If I couldn't go any more, I'd just crawl upstairs and go to bed for awhile and let everyone else proceed with fixing the meal. I'm so sorry you are sick! I got sick once the day before Christmas, but it was just my mom and daughter and family, so they just took over and did everything for me.

My poison ivy is getting better. It is still weeping some, but I just rub it down with alcohol  and most places are now scabbed over. Oh yes, I look lovely with scabs on my face :roll eyes:. But the swelling is down and I was able to put some powder makeup on the lesions, not to cover them, but to tone down the screaming redness of them so that I could go to the Apple store and get my new iMac! My old mac could not be repaired so I just got a new one. It was not in my budget, but oh well, what can you do.
This machine is wonderful - I really love it. The screen is SO BIG!!! http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_mac/family/imac/select?mco=MjIwNTQyNjE Here's a link to it. I got the 21.5 inch screen which is bigger than my old iMac so it seems REALLY BIG!!! I get an education discount since I am a teacher - it isn't much but every little bit helps. My only bump in the road is that I wasn't able to set up my school email account - I'll have to look at the settings at school on Monday and try again. I'm working at home today - but of course, I had to have a computer to actually get any work done! :D
Lindsey

I am at home now. I worked 7:30 to 11:00, went to my grandma's and visited until 12:30 with her and Layla, and then me and Layla came home. I have to drive back into the city later to pick up Scott.
I know everyone coming (other than my grandma, who is sick already so it won't bother her!!) goes on Facebook a lot so I made sure my status said I was sick. I will tell Scott to maybe casually mention it to his sister. She's pregnant and due in a month so she definitely won't want to catch this! I also told Scott he will need to help out if I'm still feeling like this. It won't be much... cutting some carrots and parsnip to cook, steaming asparagus, making some stuffing. I can season the turkey and put it in the oven early in the day, and we're making some fruit salad the day before everyone comes so that will be done. Maybe he and his mom could peel and cut the potatoes for cooking. I'm sure I can handle making the gravy too, because nobody else makes it as good as I do :D
Gayle I'm glad the swelling is down! Your new computer looks very nice!!

Yes, you have to have a keyboard and a mouse - both came with the computer and both are wireless.
Like you, I use my iPad a lot, but I don't have a laptop, so I really need a desktop, especially when I work from home. It just isn't very easy to do word processing from my iPad. I've thought about getting a portable keyboard, but it's just easier to do it from my desktop computer.

Wow, Ive had a stressful work week. Not sure I'll be able to work with this manager. She is entirely too needy and very scatter brained. The vp admin calls her out of control. She texted me at 615 this morn, while I was driving in, to cancel her 8a mtg. ok, no shorten it, ok, no move it. Then, as I'm going out to meet a couple friends for lunch, she sends me a text for directions to a lunch meeting. I was ignoring it because it wagon my personal phone, so she starts calling on my company blackberry. Yes, I cancelled my lunch and went back in to pacify her.

Congrats on the 20 pounds, Diana!!! That is quite an acomplishment, and I know you are feeling better from it too! :D
I hope you feel better today Linds! Take it easy and don't worry about imoressing anyone with you hosting skills. You let them all know you are sick, so they 1) should have cancelled and 2) should be very grateful for your efforts. ;)
Poor Gayle! I hope your poison ivy is almost gone! That alcohol must have stung like crazy!:( I love the new computer! It's so huge!!:)
Janet, what a great picture of you riding around on your 4 wheeler! You reallyt look happy. What a nice thing to be able to do!~:D
Sandy, hang in there. You will be settled in, but it does take time. I would be really angry at the dry cleaner, especially if the receipt say laundry only. You legally do not have to pay for the cleaning fees. Depends on how much effort you want to put into arguing with them. Maybe you should just grab your clothes and run!!! What's up with that crazy manager? Hope you figure out how to deal with her very soon! ;)
I've been having fun lately. We are having a run of beautiful, sunny days, and it is so nice! I am going to Jessie's today. I haven't seen the kids in over a week. Mackenzie is in her second cast. She hurt her foot this summer, and again a couple of weeks ago, so the orthopedist wants her in a cast so that all the injuries can heal. She didn't listen, and walked right through the bottom of the first cast, so she is now on the second!
Oops - that was Jessie. I'm going there tomorrow since they won't be home today. Ooooh! A whole day to myself! Lovely!:D:D:D

I'm home this weekend alone too! I put Gary on the train to Oklahoma Thursday and he will be home Monday. His sisters were getting together over the weekend and he wanted to go. I couldn't take off any more time from school, so I stayed here. It is good to be alone and quiet for a few days. The poopy poison ivy put a damper on things though. However, it is better today! YAY!
I'm looking for new chair pads for my 2 kitchen chairs and a new valance for the kitchen window. It's not easy to find things that I like. I've looked online and like a few things, but gee, you wouldn't think it would be this hard!
I haven't been able to sleep at night - I've woke at 3:00AM the last 2 nights. It's the cortisone. I just got up both nights and watched TV, silly movies on at that time of the night!

Sandy...boss or not...I think I would have to tell her to not bother me with petty things. Gee...how'd she get her position...ride the coat tails of the employees? I'm afraid I would have to say something before I let it build up...but that's me.
Isn't it nice to have your own home to yourself once in awhile? Ricky is at work and his dad is on one of his cowboy shoots. So I've been here all day so far alone....love it!! I've cleaned out Mom's car and washed it, so hopefully we can either sell it to another dealer or just return it. If we can sell it to a dealer we'll get the lease payoff and then they will sell it for a profit. If we return it....they will auction it off and the estate will be responsible for the balance. After that, I went ahead and cleaned out my van and then washed it. I hadn't really taken the time to clean it since early spring and it was so dirty....inside and out.
I'm sitting here resting and cooling off and then I will take a nice relaxing shower and probably head to Mom's and see if any mail was delivered there. It's so pretty out, I may just take a leisurely drive afterwards.
Judy....I wish I could head your way and see the scenery there. Maybe someday.

I got my front porch and doorway painted, did more organizing, made a dressing table from a wide plank and four legs, and rehung some curtains. As soon as I can lift my arm, I'll start start painting the living room paneling. I'm thinking about leaving one wall unpainted.

Wow Sandy...you were busy too and sounds like you got a lot more accomplished than I did. I bet everything looks really nice. You'll have to remember to take before and after pictures, it's always fun to see what we've done...lol.
Not sure what I'm going to do tomorrow....again...I'd like to go try the church in town, but not sure I'll make it up without setting an alarm. I'm so tired already because of my lack of sleep last night. I guess I'll make that decision tomorrow.

I ran to Garden Ridge this afternoon and found some pictures for my kitchen. I have a bird theme going and I found some great pictures. I already had the wire bird cage. Now I need to get some red cushions for my chairs. I am so sorry, I don't know why some of my pictures are sideways??? Gotta do some more figuring out this new computer, I guess.

Today was a beautiful day. Mid 80's! Nice day for a auction! So off I went.
There was a auction in my grandmothers town about 20 miles away. The auction was across the street from where her house used to sit. After her death 30 years ago her property was sold to the church next door. They sold her house and it was moved a block away. Her property land then was turned into a new parking lot for the church, and the church added on a addition. Her house is so different now.. many changes over the years. Always been sad about all of that.
Anyway... I went to the auction hoping to find a memory.
I did!!!! Found a old print of the church with my grandparents home next to it!!
Yes I got it!!! So happy.. felt like a gift from grandma. It is very old, was glued onto a heavy backing, so a few wrinkles in it, but love love love it. Wasn't framed, but bought a old frame there also that turned out to be a perfect fit. It is 16 x 20.
Here it is.. my new treasure. Grandma's house is towards the back of the church on the left side. OH! And my cousin was there. Haven't seen her in a few years. Another gift.... a wonderful day.

Oh what a wonderful gift!!! I just love nostalgic things. The picture is just lovely - I know you will treasure it and the memories from looking at your grandparents house! It was a great day, wasn't it!
Shada, what a wonderful thing to find! I love the picture, and it really is such a treasure! Enjoy it!
Gayle, well, even sideways, I like the bird pix. Everything looks so nice in that corner. I just love your table and chairs too.
I did nothing yesterday. I ended up not feeling good - some kind of stomach virus. It was so beautiful out too! I have been trying to get ssome things done that I let go over the summer. I have some things to sell on Ebay, some floral arrangements to make, and so on. I am slowly getting them out of the way. I plan on doing them over the winter when the weather is bad....but, maybe it woh't be that bad, and I will never get them done! I would rather be outside!!!
Some of my email is not coming through, so I have to call them tomorrow...yuck...time on the phone being talked through the process. Has to be done, but it sure takes too long.
The dogs need grooming, so I called for an appointment. I need groceries, and a planning to go to Jessie's today.
Here are some pix of Kassidy at her soccer game yesterday. She is so tough!!! Look at those long legs running. I think she is just the cutest little girl! Sassy Kassy!

Oh my gosh, Judy! She is just adorable!!!
I hate to be on the phone with any electronic/email/internet problem too. Sometimes it can take forever. When I got my new iPhone a couple months ago, I was on the help line for an hour and a half - YUK! I hope your problem gets solved soon. Fortunately, I was able to set up my new computer without any help - YAY!
Thanks for the compliments on the kitchen decorations. It always takes me a long time to decide on house things. I have no decorating sense at all, I have to see it in a pic and then think, "Oh, that would look nice". Then I have to find it and I usually end up taking some things back and forth till I get the right style/color/etc. I don't have much time for that, so I put it off. But with Gary gone this weekend, I have been able to shop a little bit. I think I'm done for a while!
WHOOO HOOOO!!! We got some rain today and it looks like we might get a bit more this afternoon or evening. I had an inch and a half in my rain gauge - not a drought buster by any means, but very very welcome. This is the first rain I've had at my house since last March. WHEW!

Went to a new church that I really like. One more to try and then settle on one. Laura and her bunch came by for lunch and hung out for awhile. Now, I'm on my couch, listening to the glorious rain and thunder.
I have a 10a doc appt and need to go by the lawyer office, so I might play hookey tomorrow. I'm hoping the plastic surgeon will release me tomorrow. Carol is out the rest of the week, so she can struggle through one day without me.

Janet, you look so happy on the 4-wheeler!!! I think that you and Ricky should do that more often!!!
Sandy, I'd be doing some talking to this woman and let her know that she needs to get it together. When she cancels something and you make other plans.......then you're going to honor the plans that you've made!!! She needs to get more organized!!!!
Gayle, I'm glad that you're doing better. I know that sometimes I put bleach on poison ivy. It dries it up too.....but smelling like bleach isn't fun!!! However it does work well.
I had such a good time this weekend!!! The Women's Conference was so much fun!!! They did all kinds of things to make us feel pampered!! There was a large tiered table when we walked in the door filled with all kinds of candy and cookies!! Of course, I couldn't have anything except a few plain almonds but it was still a nice touch!!! The bathrooms were decorated and there were little things in there that you could have as well!! Vendors were set up in the hallways with jewelry, purses, and other things!! The services were wonderful!!! I had forgotten that Amy was going to be a speaker on prayer.....I went to her session and she was so good!!! My Mom had tears in her eyes when it was over because she was so proud of her!!!
I signed up to work at a project on Saturday morning and I ended up at a church bleaching baby toys. It was a pretty easy job but I did do a LOT of toys!!! I was with a couple of other women from our church so after we got done we went and ate quickly then went shopping for a little while!! I got some shirts and a pair of slacks on sale. The shirts were a little tight so I gave them to Dae Lynn but I'll get them back when I lose a little more weight!! I had such a good time!!! I can't wait to go again next year!!!!

I played hooky today. Actually, my allergies are out of control after the awesome rain we got, but I could have suffered through at work. I had my work laptop and did log in and do a few things. Went to the plastic surgeon and he wants to see me back in May to look at taking taking a little off the right one that's noticeably bigger.
I stopped at a furniture store and found the exact sofa, chair and bedroom suite I want. I was horizontal most of the afternoon and have tinkered around a little.

I had a HUGE scare this afternoon!!! I went to go get parts at another town for Glen and when I left home I have to go across a low water bridge and I came across a man that had turned his 4-wheeler over on himself. I ran out of my car while calling Glen to come immediately. When I got to the other side of the 4-wheeler where the man's head was he was alert. He asked me to push the 4-wheeler a little bit so he could get out from underneath it. He let me know that his wrist was broken and there was no doubt when I looked at it. We talked for a while as he layed there. Glen finally showed up and he and I turned the 4-wheeler up right.
I felt so much better once Glen was there!!! I can't tell you how scared I was to walk up on the accident because he was just laying there!!!! It ended up that a friend of his showed up and also my son, Feyn. The guys eventually helped him into his friend's pickup and he drove him to the ER. I got a call later from one of the nurses wanting to know what he was like when I found him. He kept repeating himself and I wondered if he had a mild concussion and the nurse, who is a friend of mine, said that they were wondering that as well. The hospital was running tests to check him out. What a scare!!! I shook so badly.....and I thought that I usually handled things well......but not this!!!!

WOW! Diana, my heart would be pumping!!! Even though I am a nurse, I never liked working in the emergency room and I don't like to see injured people outside the hospital either. For some reason, after they are in the hospital, in hospital attire, and attended to, I can take care of them - but it always bothered me to see injured people in the ER in their regular clothes - weird, I know. LOL!
I'm still having trouble with the poison ivy around my waist. It is spreading!!!!! I guess since I can't see it glaring at me on my face, I haven't been as diligent in taking care of it - clearly I have not since it is getting worse and my face is getting better. Diana, I may try your bleach. I've read that lots of people use it. I've got to do something. And I will only be able to wear my slacks/jeans once - and they will have to be washed or dry cleaned every time I wear them in order to help stop spreading it. I already wash my bedsheets, pajamas, and pillow cases every day. GRRRRR! This is causing me a lot of WORK! :thumbdwn:
He is so lucky you showed up, Diana! You probably saved his life! How is he now, do you know?
I would be as scared as you were for sure! Have you stopped shaking yet? It might take a bit for your body to calm down. You need a hot bath, and a relaxing day!
I ran over to my pottery workshop teacher yesterday., Some of my stuff was ready to take home, but I have more pieces to glaze than I realized! I decided to stay and glaze three pieces. It took hours! It was so nice in the studio, and the sun was just right. I worked really slowly. I had forgotten all of the steps, but I enjoyed myself so much. I really liked working by mself too. She was in her house packing for a trip.
I would like to take some pieces home with glazes to work on here. She said it would be fine. Someone else is doing some work there, so I left her my phone number to let me know which glazes I can borrow. I'm a little nervous about carrying these unfinished pieces back and forth. They are fragile, and I don't want anything to break. I'll get bubble wrap.
Then, I took Max and Annie for a long walk. We have some trails so I took them there. They had a lot of fun, but Annie is too little. She got stuck in the leaves in the ground, so we left the woods.
Today, I am going to town to Walmart to do a big shopping. I am going to take my camera because it is so beautiful here right now, and I keep forgetting to bring it. There's a TJ Maxx there too!!! Exciting!

What a horrible incident to come across Diana. I'm usually great in an emergency, it's afterwards that I crash...lol. I know someone has to keep their head and I'm usually able to do that. After it's all over....I just cry and cry and shake, maybe get sick..etc.
How did his friend know to show up? And Feyn? I'm curious to how he is doing too. Did you know him? Isn't that bridge on your property?
Gayle...I was hoping your poison ivy was just about gone.....not spreading. I've not heard of using bleach before, but I sure hope it works for you. I've got some kind of rash under both my arms. Not sure what it is and don't remember ever having it before. If I raise my arms above my head...the rash starts midway between my elbow and shoulder and then continues down beside my breasts. I'm thinking maybe a heat rash or something, but I would have thought I would have had it earlier in the summer when it was really hot. So...I'm just not sure. The spots do have little whiteheads so I don't know what it is.
My husband is going to the Dr. on Thursday. He's been having this horrible cough that keeps him awake until the early morning. He gets to coughing so bad he can't breathe or spit anything up. The other night he said he just about came and got me to take him to the emergency room. Does a little better when sitting up, but lying down is bad. He had that cowboy shoot on Saturday and said he almost came home....he was so embarassed because he said he coughed the whole day. Not sure what's going on there, but his dad did have lung problems and was on oxygen. I think it was emphysema. Rick did have fluid taken off his lungs one time so I don't know what is wrong with him.
Judy...you know you need to post pictures of your pottery pieces don't you? :)

As soon as I saw him I started shaking!!! He was just laying there and I couldn't see his head because it was on the other side of the 4-wheeler. I can't tell you how relieved I was to see that he was awake. After I called Glen he called Feyn to come and help because he just lives a short distance on the other side of the bridge.
No, Janet, we don't own the bridge. Glen's brother owns one corner beside the bridge but it's been a place where they've played all their lives!!! It is the one that you drove over to get to the house. You probably saw the trails all over the sides of it as you drove by.
Victor's wife is a friend of mine and went to school with one of my kids.....I also know her mother. She called last night to give me a report and to thank me for stopping and helping which I thought was really nice of her. Victor's wrist is broken in four places and he's had trouble with it before so is having surgery today with a specialist.....it's bad enough that they're hoping the specialist will do it. The doctor kept him over night for observation. She said that Victor got worse at remembering while he was in the hospital and they were worried about a brain bleed but they didn't find anything in the tests they ran. I guess that he had just bought the 4-wheeler a month ago but he didn't even remember that he had one.....he kept asking her over and over what had happened to him so something was going on with his head. I'm glad that they kept him.
The friend that showed up was going to ride 4-wheelers with him. I don't think that he knew that he was coming but must have mentioned that he was going to go sometime in a converation. We knew the friend as well, slightly.
By the time Victor was in his friend's pickup and headed to town I had stopped shaking so much. It was mostly when I came up on him because I was worried that he was going to be really hurt bad.....I tell you I couldn't get my phone dialed fast enough to get some help there!!!!! I wasn't even that scared when we ran over Dean!!!!

I enjoyed yesterday, so I stayed home again. I have never done this before. I'm kicking myself and know that I must get up and deal with this manager. I need this job and know that this shall pass.
Gayle, I've had something going on with my jaw for a couple weeks. It's been stiff to open. This morning I yawned, it hurt like heck and now I can't bite all the way down. Go to doc?

Yeah, it's time to go to the doc - if it were going to resolve it would have in 2 weeks, instead, it has gotten worse. Are you sure it is not a tooth/teeth problem, in which case you'd need to go to the dentist. At any rate, it is time to find out what is going on.

Oh great, I have divorce mediation tomorrow afternoon, so ill get an appt for Thursday. it could be my teeth because they're all crooked, but I don't think it is. I've wondered if it's in with the stiffness in my neck. I'll go get it checked.
My Abigail's rabbits won grand champion at the show this evening. She's a natural.

Good luck with mediation tomorrow Sandy. And congrats to Abigail and her rabbits. My daughter had rabbits too when she was in high school.
I hope the jaw pain is easily solved. It is possible that you are clenching and grinding your teeth at night, especially now with all the stress of moving, your boss, the divorce, etc. You might just need a night time mouth guard.
Oh my, rashes, poison ivy, jaw pain!!! I hope all of these go away very, very soon! Sandy, Kassidy has TMJ. They made her a mouth guard, but it didn't work. They went to the drug store for a home kit mouth guard under the dentist's directions. It is probably from stress. You have had quite a bit!!!
Janet, you should check that rash out. I get all kinds of skin rashes, but I have a couple of tubes of really good medicine that works. The only thing that is hard to get rid of is excema, because I don't apply the medicine as often as I'm supposed to.
Poor Gayle!!! Did you try the bleach? I hope it stops spreading!
I keep forgetting to finish my posts on this thread!
I went to Oneonta yesterday, to TJ Maxx, and got 3 tops. I went to another store in the mall and got another top. I was going to go to Walmart's for food, but it was late, so I decided I will go today. I want to go get my nails done, and there is a nice, little Walmart in that town.
I need groceries for a few weeks., I am going on Tuesday to have the bags under my eyes fixed. I trust this doctor, but this is surgery. I have never had any real kind of surgery in my life, much less plastic surgery, and I am really scared. Not of the surgery, but that it will not look natural. I don't want to look like all of those women on TV who all seem to use the same plastic surgeon. They all have the same lips, the same nose, the same eyebrows. I'm also worried that it will change what I look like.
Of course, I don't have to do this. So, why am I? This is my last big thing I am doing, and, for some reason, I am going through with it. It's expensive, so I will pay it out over a year, with no interest.
So, I need to stock up because I don't know how I am going to feel afterwards. Or, what I am going to look like for a while. I really don't want to go shopping with bruises under my eyes. That just makes people think "abuse."
Jessie is driving me on Tuesday. They will never let me live this down!!!

I'll be praying that all goes well, Judy. I'm sure it is scary with all of the bad things you hear about......but there has to be more good that comes out of it or the surgeons would be shut down. You know that we'll want pictures after you're all healed!!!
Sandy, with your neck being stiff I would imagine that it's stress related. Like Gayle said you're probably clenching your teeth when you sleep. I have TMJ as well but I don't necessarily have stiffness in my jaw. I don't chew gum hardly at all because it seems to make it worse. You should probably go to the doctor and have it checked out.
Congratulations to Abbigail on her rabbits!!!!

This morning after I ran the bus route, Ricky and I went to Mom's to mow her yard. We let it get just a tad too tall, but it looks really good now. After we mowed, I swept the front porch and Ricky used the weed-eater.
After that, we just came home and did what needed to get done. Ricky tinkered in the garage and I did laundry...lol.
My older brother called and said he had rec'd a check from a life insur. policy of Mom's. We had signed the policies over to the funeral home so while I was looking up the number to call them, our mail came and I too had a check. I assumed my younger brother rec'd one too so I called and sure enough...the insurance company made a mistake and was suppose to send the checks to the funeral home. So we have to take the checks we rec'd and give them to the funeral home so the services can be paid.
Ricky and I were going to take mine back this evening, but they had a service going on so we went to Dairy Queen....lol. I had been craving ice cream for a couple weeks so it was soooo good. Ricky got a banana split and I got one of those bowls of ice creams that you can eat the bowl....oh yum yum yummy!!!
Tomorrow since Ricky has 3 days off, we are going to a Toyota dealer in Lafayette and let them buy Mom's car. She leased it, but this dealer is interested in buying it since it has less than 3500 miles on it. They would pay off the lease and then sell the car at a profit. We would just be rid of the car. I like it, but we can't afford to make the $211 payment every month for the next two years. I would love to have a new car, but I just don't want payments...lol. Ricky has to go too and drive another vehicle so that I'll have a way to get home if they will take it.
I also had the Chaplin from the hospital Hospice call to see how I was getting along. It was so nice and so thoughtful of her. Me....I cried and cried. I felt so bad for the lady, but she was wonderful. I still have a hard time....like yesterday....I wanted to tell her the good news about Ricky and even though I know she knows.....I wanted to see her face light up. I'm not going to be able to see that ever again and it hit me really hard.
I'm okay now....in bed and ready to call it a night.

Janet, you really had an up and down day, didn't you! I hope you feel better in the morning when you wake up. You get so much done in one day, I don't know how you do everything you do! You are so wise with your money - I'd probably keep the car and then regret it!
I've had a terribly busy week at school. Tomorrow is my class day and I'm really not ready to teach, so I think I'll conduct the class by seminar and let the students answer the discussion questions in small group work. I need to help them get started on the paper they need to write so I'll use the rest of the class for that which again, won't require me to prepare a formal teaching lecture. Graduate students like seminar better than lecture anyway, but some topics do not lend themselves to seminar. I'm glad the one tomorrow does!
My mom is having problems with one of her legs. I'm so worried that she is going to fall or have some serious mobility issues. It is the oddest thing. She has pain in the front mid thigh area - no joint involved. It's been there about a month. I took her to her orthopedic doctor a couple of weeks ago and he couldn't find anything wrong. He told her to take Aleve and use her walker (she usually walks with a cane only) to take the pressure off the leg and let it rest more. She did that and it got better but only for a few days and now it is worse :(. I made another appt with the ortho doc, but she can't get in till next Monday. The doctor at the assisted living center called me today and is going to get an X-ray of her spine tomorrow - the ortho doc only x-rayed her hip and knee. She is also going to give her a very mild pain pill, some topical rub, and she ordered some whirlpool therapy. I imagine the ortho doc will need to get a scan or an MRI. Mom is 89 and has never had any health problems to speak of. She has had both knees replaced, one 15 years ago and the other just a couple of years ago. Otherwise she is as healthy as a horse. However, if her mobility goes, that is very bad for someone her age. I guess we will know more next week.
My poison ivy is really not any better - well it is MUCH better on my face, but not any better on my waist and side. Someone at work today told me to get some OTC topical medicine that they SWEAR will help. I sure hope so cuz I am TIRED of this. It's amazing how a little rash can create so much havoc. We are going back to the deer lease this weekend and I am not concerned about getting more poison ivy - I'll be very careful - I'm concerned that it will be warm and I will be sweaty and sweat and poison ivy DO NOT MIX
Oh Janet, I know what you mean about wanting to tell Mom about Ricky. I still want to tell my Dad things, or ask his advice. What I would give to have him watching out for me. I talk to him anyway. I think he is watching over me, and is listening.
I'm sure Mom is listening to you too, but I know how it feels to not be able to have her right there.
Gayle, get that OTC stuff! I hope it works! What if you - this may sound weird, but it might help - took off a few days, and covered the rash loosely, and leave the clothing off? Okay, I said it. I'm sorry if this is too invasive an idea, but I am just trying to help.

Judy, you read my mind! I'm not going into work tomorrow, I can work from home. I'm going to run by walmart today and get a moo moo type dress/robe and then run around tomorrow with very little touching the rash.
I did get the OTC stuff yesterday on my way home and it actually LOOKS better today, but doesn't feel better yet. I'm hopeful that since it looks better, it will actually feel better. The guy that told me about it said it would take 3 days to work.
Problem is that we have to take the trailer out to the deer lease on Sat. I'm concerned about wearing jeans around my waist and sweating (it will still be about 85 degrees). So I tried on Gary's overalls and I can wear them with the legs rolled up. I will look like I am dressed for Halloween, but no one else will be out there and it is way in the country so I am safe! LOL!

Today Ricky and I drove Mom's car over to Lafayette to the Toyota dealer only to be told that pay off is like $18,000 and they are only willing to pay $17000. It was suggested that we put it on Craig's List in the Lafayette area. She said the overseas students come to Purdue with a checkbook and we probably won't even have it listed 2 days before it's sold. I just wanted to have them buy it and not worry about it anymore.
After all that we stopped by Wellbound (Mom's kidney center) and took back used syringes that they will dispose of and then all of the supplies that were unopened/unused. It was good to see them and of course I cried.
Ricky and I then went to Denny's for breakfast. NEVER again...lol. For both of us, it cost $22....can you believe that? Ricky got "The LumberJack" and I got "The GrandSlam". I had coffee and he had orange juice. I couldn't believe his little more than 8 oz juice was almost $2.50. It was really good food, but not $22 worth of good....lolol.
Then we came home for an hour or so and then I ran the afternoon route. When I got home we headed into the funeral home to return the check I had recieved and then to Mom's. I decided to bring her plants home before they died. She had one that was from my Dad's funeral in 1973...a climbing philadendren (sp). It's looking kind of puny being all alone so hopefully it will grow better here with us. She also had a couple of African violets and a cactus.
Also brought the big wall mirror home that I had wanted. Then we headed to Wal Mart....for all things.....a cat bed..lolol. Ricky decided the cat needed a bed out in the garage so he found a real nice one for only $5.00. He can find better deals than I can... :)
Gayle, can you wear the moo moo type gown to the deer lease? I wouldn't want anything to confining until it's gone, especially if it's going to be hot. AND I sure hope and pray your Dr. can figure out what is going on with your Mom's leg. I would worry about the falling too. It's so scary.
Tomorrow I get my hair cut. That's all I have to do besides make some phone calls. Yay...the weekend is almost here.

Sometimes Denny's has some good specials, but generally it is pretty expensive. I like to eat there sometimes though. That sounds like Gary and my breakfast this morning. I had cherry crepes with bacon and he had a pecan waffle. I also had coffee and he had a diet coke. It was $24 - I agree with you Janet, that's too much!
WHEW! I made it through a very long day. I had to go get fingerprinted this morning. No, I'm not a criminal :D it's required now for renewal of your nursing license. They are doing background checks when you renew. It's a GOOD idea. Anyway, my appt was at 10:00, so I really couldn't go to school and then go back and get it done so Gary had to go to the lab for blood work and it had to be fasting. I said that I would take him, then we'd go out for breakfast, and then it would be time to go get printed. He told me to wake him up in time to take a shower - which should have been about 7:00. He was up at 5:30  taking a shower. I thought he had lost his mind!!! I asked if he knew what time it was an he said he did and that he got up because he couldn't go back to sleep. Well, I sure could have gone back to sleep. This was my late day, I had class till 7:00PM so getting up at 5:30 is not what I had in mind. But I survived! :D

Wow!! You guys have been sooo busy!!!
Gayle, I hope you can get your poison ivy cleared up soon. I know that it's miserable!!
Janet, I hope you don't have any trouble selling your Mom's car. I'm sure that they probably know about the students buying cars so I'd give it a try.
On Tuesday Jaci and I went to another town to watch Karley (our oldest granddaughter) play volleyball. It was nice to get out and away from the kids for awhile!! Then on Thursday Jaci and I went to another town to watch Kiley run cross-country!! She ended up in 16th place.....which was really good....and first place for Fredonia!!! It was really different going to a cross-country meet!! We had to walk....quickly to be able to watch them from different places!! She ran for about 20 minutes then was done except for giving out the awards!!! It's good to see the twins in different sports......they each have their own personalities so it makes sense for them to be involved in different things now.
Dae Lynn got home from school and isn't feeling good......she thinks maybe it's the flu. I sure hope not!!!!
We have a nice quiet weekend coming up!!! Hopefully a few garage sales and not much else!!!
Oh....our town had some really bad news today. Our main business in town which is a cement plant is going to shut down next March. This will really hurt our town and a lot of people we know. I really, really hope that it's not true but I've heard it from several different places and I haven't even left the house today.

Today....I didn't do much of anything.... :p Oh I made the phone calls I needed to make and that was it. Ricky and I did get our hair cut and we just look adorable.... :D
Tomorrow I will be on my own. Have to be in town so a guy can come and work on a gas thingy at my Mom's and then hopefully I'll be able to make it to Applebees with a school friend and her mother at noon. If not...that okay because I'll be at her mother's birthday celebration next weekend. I will probably end up at the town garage sale at our 4H building too, not really to buy anything, but to see if I know anyone there. :)
Once I get home...I really need to give the dogs a bath. I just haven't been as good as I use to be in keeping them groomed. It shouldn't take near as long though, because they are cut shorter except for Brenna, so just need to trim their ears, feet, private parts and toenails. Awww...maybe next weekend...LOLOL
I took Max and Annie for haircuts yesterday. They look nice, and they don't smell!!
Their fur was too long, and they were so dirty from rolling around in the wet leaves out front. I don't know how to trim them, and Annie is hard to even brush, or I would do it myself. You are lucky that you know how, Janet.
Wendy, their groomer, gave them both a free flea bath because her yard is full of fleas. I wish I would have know, so I could have carried them inside. I have to Frontline them. Does anyone know why I have to wait 3 days after they are bathed to Frontline them? Doesn't make sense to me.
I was going to get a manicure today, but I am cancelling. I'll go tomorrow. This house needs a good straightening up, and the laundry has to be done. Annie threw up on my blanket and my sheet, so it is derinitely a laundry day! I have to go pick up their dog food too. I have been feeding them raw food and dry, so I think I'm going to make this the last time I get the raw. I already ordered it, so I have to go get it. They don't need both kinds of food. I give them Wellness reduced fat dry food, which I think is fine. I'll have to add a drop of something wet because they love it. I can put a half a spoon of cheaper wet food in.

I'm like the two of you....I haven't kept up on Reuger and Jazzi's grooming. They both need baths so badly and Reuger needs to be groomed before it gets much colder. I've decided that I'm going to keep him short through the winter because he just gets so shaggy by the time spring gets here.
Today I'm determined to get my room straightened. It's been a mess since Dae Lynn moved in because I moved several things in there that I didn't want in the basement......Well, guess what........they're going to the basement!!!!! I have several things that I want to sell on e-bay so I'll leave them there as a reminder. I'm so ready to have things back in order!!!
Dae Lynn came home from work yesterday not feeling well and was sick in the night. I sure hope that the kids don't get it. The flu has been going around......already. She's not too sick because she still got up and is getting some things done and is taking Karlie to Damon's sister's for the weekend (It's been a tough week with Karlie.) Then she's coming home to crash. I hope she's better soon!!
Janet

I'm not really noticing mine smelling too bad, but they look horrible. I'm keeping them all short for winter, but not near has short as summer. Brenna is still in long coat so she's in for a big surprise...lol.
Today I met with the guy that's going to put on an extension and new valve behind Mom's gas stove. I asked Jerry to come and he did. The man's name is Wayne and he did a lot of work for Mom. He said he would be glad to do it and will come on Monday around 4:30, that gives me enough time after my afternoon route to get there. I think Jerry is going to come too.
After Wayne left...Jerry and I sat and talked for about 90 minutes before I had to leave for Applebee's. It was really nice...just talking and not about Mom or the auction. Just normal things.
I met my friend and her Mom for lunch and another girl that we graduated with was the bartender. She wasn't busy so sat with us quite a bit and we had such a good time. The food was so good and so was the conversation and laughs. We were there for a couple hours. My friends mother will be turning 94 next Friday so I'll be going to the nursing home to share in cake and ice cream. Her mother also played the organ I our wedding.
After lunch, I went to Wal Mart and bought some potting soil, African Violet soil and a couple pots to replant some of the plants that I brought home from Mom's. I'll probably do that tomorrow sometime after giving the dogs a bath...maybe before.
Guess that's about all for today. I really need at least one more day for the weekend, two days just aren't enough to get everything done.
Karlie is a pistol Judy.....I hope you can handle her...lol. Really.....she is so cute, but I can see where she can be just as Diana describes at times.

I've been going around in my little circles. Mediation went ok, divorce should be final on the 21st, so that will be behind me. My emotions have gone crazy, he's asking for 6 more months, but I said no more tries. Jaw is better and I realized that I was bearing down really hard on my teeth in stress. I have my 19 year old niece with me for the weekend, hanging out, relaxing.
My doggie needs grooming really bad, wish she'd learn to bathe herself!!!!

My daughter Brooke called yesterday and said, "If y'all are going to be home this weekend, the girls and I are coming up". And the answer was yes that Gary and I had decided not to go to the deer lease this weekend. Gary was really tired from being in Oklahoma last weekend, and he had worked hard (well he had been busy running around :p) all week long, so he said he was just too tired to take the trailer to the deer lease. Plus, I think he felt sorry for me with all my poison ivy and he knew having to be out in the warm temps (high 80's) I would be miserable. So on Friday, we had decided we wouldn't go anywhere this weekend.
The reason for the girl trip from Houston was that Abigail wanted to go to a haunted house here in Austin. It's one she's gone to with her friends for several years - sort of a tradition. Bryan was going to work all weekend and Brooke thought it was a good time to come on up.
We were delighted to have them, except my housekeeper has been on vacation, so I had to scurry around and get the house cleaned up a little bit. It turned out to be fine and the house looked better when they got here, but now it looks like a tornado went through! LOL I'm glad the maid is coming on Tuesday! :D
We had fun, we went shopping for a bit yesterday afternoon. Then we went out to eat at a local restaurant, and the food was really good. Then Brooke left with Abigail and the other girls going to the haunted house. Emma, Papaw and I stayed home and we had a fun evening!
We will go out to eat this morning and then they will head back to Houston. I'll be able to get the rest of my errands done, and so it will have been a busy, but fun weekend!

Gotta love those busy fun weekends with your babes. My niece and I had fun doing nothing much but catching up, talking. I think I have her talked into getting into college. She's very smart but has no aggression, like her dad. Got my laundry done and am about to go chill on the porch.
Let's have a gooooooood week.

Sandy, I know that you're so ready for the divorce to be done. At least you have a date set now. Hopefully things will slow down for you after that.
Gayle, I know that you've enjoyed having your daughter and granddaughters there for the weekend. I always have to tell myself when the kids are here that the mess cleans up easily when they leave!!! I visited someone once that the kids would bring out toys and when they went into another room to get more she would have the first bunch picked up!!! I swore that I would never be so picky!!! Like I said.....it all cleans up easily AFTER they're gone!!! I do know that you don't fret too much over it. I'm sure that the girls are growning so much!!! I hope they're liking where they're living now.
We had a church dinner after church. It was nice because I brought a couple of dishes that I can eat on my diet but was concerned that I might not get any because I tend to go through the line last but the lady in charge allowed me to keep them in the kitchen so that those of us on the diet could eat it. There were a couple of other things that we could eat but it was nice to know that we were being thought of.
After Glen and I got home (Dae Lynn and Dean stayed home because she's still not feeling well) Dae Lynn and Dean left to go and pick up Karlie. It's been such a restful weekend with her gone because she tends to be loud and Dae Lynn gets on to her a lot. I got to watch tv and be on the computer with NO interruptions!!!! Yay!!!!!
I did get my room straightened and some stuff taken out.....that still needs to be taken to the basement.....but I still have some stuff to go through and organize. It feels so much better though than what it did!!

Didn't do much today either, just laundry. Kind of been a down day, but I know they are to be expected. Missing Mom alot today, just wanting to talk with her.
Tomorrow I meet the guy who's going to fix the gas line and then on Tuesday, Jerry and I will be going back to Toyota. I'm not good at bargaining with people and he is....so...we'll see what will happen. Hopefully we'll come home without Mom's car.

The kids left about 9:30 this morning, a little earlier than they planned, but Brooke woke up with terrible congestion, so they decided to hurry on home.
I got the house picked up and back to (almost) normal. I also had to work on the travel trailer a little bit. When I plugged it in for Brooke and Emma to sleep in, I turned on the hot water heater - but the LP gas detector went off, so I knew the pilot on the hot water heater didn't light. So I turned off the gas - they really didn't need hot water, they were just sleeping out there (we only have a twin bed in the guest room and our other bedroom is our office). So, this afternoon I went out and turned on the hot water heater again. This time, I could hear the pilot light fire up and I could hear the burners (or whatever they are called) were lit. In just a bit the water was hot, so I'm not sure what was going on. Anyway, I'm glad that everything is OK since we plan to take the trailer out to the deer lease next weekend.
Then I went to the grocery store and also to the nursery for an aloe vera plant. The poison ivy on my abdomen looks like a burn now, rather than poison ivy. So, I thought aloe vera might help it heal faster - who knows. I am still having tiny spots of poison ivy pop up in various places. All the poison ivy information says it CANNOT be spread but I think that's a bunch of bull. It says the only way it can spread is by the original poison ivy oil. I have taken a shower every day, sometimes twice, I wash my clothes and bedclothes everyday in HOT water - I do not think it is possible for there to be any more poison ivy oil ANYWHERE - yet, I'm still getting new spots. Anyway, the huge area on my abdomen doesn't itch or burn anymore, so that is good. My face looks really good, the rash/redness is almost all gone.
Now, I'm just vegetating and watching TV. I have to take mom to the orthopedic doc in the morning - she is not walking at all now, just scooting around in a wheel chair. I'm afraid something bad is wrong with her leg, and I hope we can find the problem. Gary is going to help me take her since I will have to take the wheel chair along to get her into the docs office. Sigh. I sure hope we can find out what is wrong.

I've heard people say that poison ivy can't spread....but it does!!! I have to be careful when I have it because I'll end up with it all over. If I get it on my leg then I'll soon have it on my face!!! UGH!!! I have also gotten it off of Glen's clothes after he's been in it!!!
The last time I had a little spot on my leg I was using a little tube of Benedryl that you dab on and it started spreading because it got on the dabber. I had to throw the thing away!!! So make sure you're not using something like that to treat it!!
I don't usually get it under my clothes but I imagine that with it not getting air circulation it's making it harder to clear up. I do hope you get over it soon and before you go to the deer lease!!!
Janet, I hope that Jerry can get a good price for your Mom's car. It will be one less thing to worry about then.

Gayle....I just hate that you're having so much trouble with the poison ivy. Maybe you should just stay home and walk around naked while dabbing alcohol all day. Either that or drink the alcohol....either one couldn't hurt.. :)
Today was cold. Tomorrow we aren't suppose to get out of the 40's...brrrrr. Long as we don't have snow....it's okay.
I hope Jerry can do the deal tomorrow so we won't have to bring Mom's car back home. We just don't have the room in the drive for another car during the winter months.

Sounds like a plan to me, Janet! :D It's actually a little better today. The ivy on my abdomen looks like a burn so I bought an aloe vera plant (think I already told you that). Anyway, it looks a little better today, so maybe the aloe is helping!!!
Took mom to the orthopedic doc today. He couldn't find anything mechanically wrong so we are going tomorrow morning for an MRI. We'll go in Thursday afternoon to get the results. Mom is doing pretty good. She is scooting around in a wheel chair. She can transfer herself from the toilet, bed, and chair to the wheel chair. She can get dressed and get down to the dining room - so she's doing pretty good. I sure hope we can find out what this is!!!

There is some more big news in my family... on Sunday, my brother got engaged too! This is terrible, but the first thought in my mind (and Scott's) was that they were going to try to out-do our wedding, by maybe having theirs first, or right after, and doing it bigger and better, because that's how it always seems to happen... I was relieved when I found out they are planning it for 2013! I think that was really nice of them to let us have our day still.
Well, I have two weeks left at my current job, and then moving on again. I swear, this is the last big change I'm making for a long time!!!
Gayle, I'm glad your mom seems to be getting around well on her own, but I do hope a doctor can figure out what's going on. I am so sorry you're still having problems with that poison ivy! That must be terrible.
Janet, it has gotten pretty cold here too! I'm kind of hoping for snow :) I will not be saying that in January though.
Sandy, did you decide to prime and paint all the paneling?

LOL! Sandy you are a HOOT!!! I hope your crazy manager gets some help soon - or a new job!!!
Well folks, my mom has a stress reaction in her femur (top long bone in the thigh). I'm sure you've heard of stress fractures - well she doesn't have a fracture, just a reaction which is causing her pain. They don't have a clue what caused it other than she walks with a cane in her right hand and the leg next to the cane (her right leg) has more weight on it, and thus, stress on it because a cane in your right hand takes the stress of the left leg. So the doctor said that always having more weight on the right leg could have caused the stress reaction - or not - who knows!
Anyway, it should get better with time and physical therapy. It will take a while, but she has to "push through it" as the doctor said. She can use the wheel chair, but she needs to get up and walk some everyday with a walker, which takes pressure off both legs.
I am very relieved to know that it is not something more serious. I'm not sure my mom WILL "push through it". She's a wimpy baby - but we'll see.
Janet

Yes Janet, she will use the walker. I'm concerned that she will spend too much time in the wheelchair though. She tends to use the way out. I know she'll walk some, but I'm concerned that she won't try very hard. I guess we'll see.
Janet
10-21-2011, 05:57 AM
That's the way Mom was too.....she thought it was just easier to have someone push her in the wheelchair and she didn't walk as much as she should have. I tried, but she had a way that at times I gave in to her and I shouldn't have.
Janet

So far today I've run my morning route and then came home and went through the house like a tornado! I dusted every room and swept the floors and put away whatever needed out away. Let the dogs out, cleaned my kitchen and for this weekend....I'm done....sort of.
I'll run my afternoon route and then I'll be done for the day. Tomorrow I'm going to visit with a friend and her mother to celebrate her 94th birthday. We will be going out yo eat and while we are gone, the nursing home will be setting up for the party. That should be a lot of fun...I just adore her mother.
I'm hoping Sunday afternoon to get the dogs bathed. The look horrible and their nails need trimmed so bad. I've been such a bad dog mom recently. I'm just so tired of so many of them, but I don't think I could really let any go even though I want to so bad.
I'll just have to try and keep myself motivated. It's gotten so much cooler in the 30's and 40's so I mostly want to lay around and do nothing.

Dae Lynn and the kids are home today because there's no school. Dean and I have pretty much gotten in a routine so having the other two home really changes the day!!
We have our ladies group from church coming out today to ride 4-wheelers, hay rack ride, and roasting hot dogs. We have a lot to clean up outside to make things look better. Tomorrow we have Chi Alpha, a college church group, that will be coming for the day. They are such an interesting group to have because they have a lot of international students.
We haven't had much going on.....same ol'....same ol'. I've been getting into orchids so I've been repoting some of them and arranging them in my kitchen window. I have three that are reblooming and a new on that's about to bloom. That's exciting for me!!!
Gayle, I sure hope your poison ivy is about gone!! I've never tried aloe on it so I'm not sure if it helps or not.
I hope your Mom follows the doctor's orders. It is probably hard to walk when it hurts and pushing through wouldn't be fun. Give your Mom a hug from me!!!
Sandy, hang in there!!! Maybe you should pray that Carol would find another job!!
Lindsey, don't worry about your brother's engagement. Don't compete and don't worry about what they plan or are talking about. If you do it will take a lot of your enjoyment away. Be happy for them but don't let ANYTHING stress you out. If your future SIL is small enough to try and up stage you on this then she is a very small person and don't stoop to her level!!!
I was supposed to go to Kassidy's soccer game today, but since she was sick this week, they are keeping her home. I am going to see them tomorrow.
Today, there is a flea market nearby - clothes, I think, that were donated for flood victims, but weren't needed. Ya never know!!!
There is also a small vendor sale in town. It's a sidewalk sale, and maybe I can pick up some good produce. The apples I have gotten lately are so delicious!!!
Gayle, I hope your Mom feels better soon. It is so hard when the body gets old!
Linds, don't pay any attention to your future SIL. She is a bitch, and always will be. And, it seems that she will always try to one up you. Pray for her happiness. If somebody is happy, they tend to not want to annoy anyone else. Are her 2 girls your brother's daughters? I can't remember, but it would be best if they got married so the girls are happy. Anyway, she cannot outdo your wedding. The way you look in your wedding dress is unbeatable!!! And, you are wearing red shoes! No way she can top that! I bet she will have plenty of negative things to say about your wedding, so be prepared to ignore her. She really is pretty pathetic if this is the focus of her life. She sounds like she needs help!
Sandy, maybe that crazy boss will come back on medication!!! She sure needs it! I hope that gets better really soon! The divorce will be over before you know it, and then you are 100% free!!!:D

I'm having an awful day!!! Dean's pressing buttons on the computer so I'm actually re-writing this!!! The kids have been awful.......Dae Lynn's at the jail visiting Damon so I'm left with them AGAIN. Dean keeps playing in the dog food and Chi Alpha is due at any moment! I'm so ready to head somewhere.........anywhere!!!! I have a headache that I'm starting to think may be stress related......I'm not sure! BIG DEEP BREATHE.......Please God help me through this day!!!!!
Oh no! Poor you, Diana!!! Maybe Dae Lyn has to get someone to help you when she goes out for the day. I'm sure there is somebody who can come over and lend a hand. Never try to be Supermom !!! Then, they expect it, and it just gets too hard! They forget that we are getting older, the kids are at a bad age, we aren't up to it, or whatever.
I just told Jessie that "No, the kids cannot sleep over tonight. They were home half the week with stomach viruses." Of course, I feel very guilty, but it's better than feeling very stressed!
Janet

Diana....since you watch Dean during the week...maybe you should see if Dae Lynn can get someone else to watch them on the weekend....maybe one of the older grandkids. That way you can have your weekends to do as you please. I know she wants to spend time with Damon, but you need a break too.
Judy's right...we just are not spring chickens anymore and the stress can really get to us. So...continue with those BIG DEEP BREATHS and hopefully they will help.
Forgot to say that I spent the bigger part of the day with my friend Diane and her mother. Her mother turned 94 years young. We had a really nice time. For lunch we headed to Lafayette to eat at Kentucky Fried Chicken. They have a really nice buffet there and Marian really liked it. While we were gone some of the staff decorated Marian's room for her birthday (she lives at the Mulberry Retirement Home).
When we got back we had cake and some of the residents stopped by to give birthday wishes, cards and to have some cake. There was a new resident across the hall so I went and spoke with her for awhile and took her a piece of cake. Turns out she knew Mom and attended the same church as Mom....small world. I was so glad that I included her in the celebration, she was so sweet.
Tomorrow...I hope I have the energy and motivation to get the dogs groomed...they need it soooo bad!

Got my divorce! I'm not celebrating because I do believe in marriage. Now, he's texting wanting to be friends. Now, he understands what went wrong. Boohoo, my fat butt! As soon as he transfers the funds, I'm blocking bus number. I do feel a huge release and am so glad it's done.
I ripped out the paneling over the bar area and have decided to take those cabinets out to open the kitchen up to the dining. I have room to build a pantry/pans cabinet on the open wall area.
I lost all my before pictures from my iPhone when I upgraded to the new software. I had pictures lots of pictures on there that I would dearly love to have back. No, they weren't backed up on my laptop. I'm just sick about it.
Church tomorrow and maybe some yard work and wall painting.
Love y'all!

Janet, is this a new picture of you? It's lovely! You are just so pretty! Yesterday sounds nice for you. Have fun with the dog bathing.
Sandy, congrats anyway. Onto the future woman!!! Did you rip off the paneling by yourself?
I have to go to Jessie's today! I haven't seen them in over a week, and I feel so guilty about not letting them sleep over last night. I was right, but maternal guilt sucks! Especially because Jess is sick, and works so hard with the kids. He helps, but they don't allow him to go out with them anymore. It got to a point where he was so grouchy (because he doesn't have a job????) that Jessie just told him flat out that the kids and she don't want him with them. I feel bad for him, but maybe he will learn to stick a smile on his face like most adults do. He is so self involved! She threatened to divorce him a few weeks ago. He didn't believe her that the kids can't stand his grouchiness anymore, so Mackenzie told him flat out. He kept asking Jess if they were getting a divorce, and finally she told him that she doesn't have the energy to get divorced right now. She loves him, but her kids come first. She is tired of being around someone in a bad mood too.
Maybe you could send some prayers their way? It would be good if they were all happy with each other.
I'm going for my under eye surgery tomorrow. I'm nervous!

Hope you all got some rest today.
Church was awesome this morning, then went to home depot to get more paint, went to cvs to get prevacid, got home and put the last coat of paint on that one living room wall. The molding is stained ... Should I paint it?
Sipped wine on the front porch and am turning in for the night. Let's go out there and have an awesome week. He'll yeah!

Sandy, I'm glad that your divorce is final. I know that you're relieved that it's finally done.......less stress for you now!!!
I'm sure that you'll have the house just like you want it in no time!!! That's rotten about losing all of your pictures.
Janet, I'm so glad that you went to the birthday party for your friend's mother!!!! She sounds like a sweet lady!! I'm sure it meant a lot to find a friend of your Mother's while at the nursing home!!
I have to say that your new avatar looks really nice!!!
Judy, don't feel too bad about not having the kids come and stay with you.......after all you don't want to deal with sick kids or getting sick youself especially with your surgery coming up. I hope that you're not in too much pain afterwards. And I hope the surgery is all that you want it to be!!! I'll say a prayer for you!!
Poor Jessie!!! Hopefully her husband will straighten up soon. She sounds like a strong woman......dealing with her husband and her illness.

This weekend was just hard. Whenever Karlie is around life is so different.......not that I don't love her. I have to keep reminding Dae Lynn that she's only five but she just knows what buttons to push and it keeps her in constant trouble!! Whenever Karlie is around Dean she does things to keep him screaming, then Dae Lynn's yelling and the whole house is in an uproar!!!
Dae Lynn went to the jail and saw Damon and he talked to her about where he should go when he gets out of jail because he wouldn't come here with Glen upset with him so Dae Lynn came home all upset and talked to Glen about how he would feel about Damon moving in with us.......and let's just say that it didn't go well. I talked to Glen and he's willing to let him but it's not without hard feelings.......so Dae Lynn was in tears. I feel trapped in the middle because I can see both sides.
During all of this we had Chi Alpha here!! They are such a great group of kids!! We didn't have as many kids this year so that was a disappointment. There are several that have been here before so it's always good to see them. One I talked to is going on to get her Master's so probably won't be here again. I was so sad over that because she's so friendly!! She's from Malysia......one was from France......another from Napal. There's s so many different accents that you know that they're from different places!!! They played games in the meadow........carved pumpkins........roasted hot dogs and smores.......then went on a WILD hayrack ride!!! Everyone says that there's not a hayrack ride that compares to Glen's!!!! Chi Alpha was a nice distraction with all of the things going on with Dae Lynn.
Yesterday was church. I had to do children's church for Amy since she's sick. She had a movie all ready so we did that for the kids and they were really good at sitting still and watching it. Then we went out to eat with Dae Lynn and the kids, Kera and Daya, and Jaci and Nate. Dae Lynn had asked me to watch the kids while she went back to the jail to see Damon but at lunch we decided to go 4-wheeling with Jaci and Nate. I could tell that she was upset but she didn't complain about it. She CAN talk to him on the phone now a couple of times a day now.
So.....we went 4-wheeling!!! Jason (Amy's husband) came with Daya.......Jaci and Nate and Glen and I all went. Later a few other friends came and after the kids' naps Dae Lynn and the kids came. It was such a blast!!!! We rode around a dry creek bed. One of our friends, Steve, is a real dare devil!!! He's usually one to get hurt.....and I noticed that he was the only one with a helmet and padding!!! I'm sure that his wife makes him wear it!!! I got some GREAT pictures of him in the air!!! I'll post them soon.
Later we went over to another place that was all hilly and it was so much fun to ride there. I was really careful at first but soon got the hang of it but there were still places that were too steep for me!!! I stopped a lot and took pictures of the others!!
Right before we were ready to leave Glen rode up the side....not over the top but just up on a side and, I'm not sure what happened but I saw his motorcycle sliding down the hill with Glen beside it. We all ran over there to help and Glen was limping around. He just sat for awhile and the guys got his motorcycle put back up. It was about dark so we were ready to leave and Glen insisted that he could still drive back to the pickup. He got on the motorcycle, started it, then bent over like he was checking something on the motor. Dae Lynn started asking him what was wrong when he suddenly just fell over!! He had passed out!!! It probably wasn't but about 20 or 30 seconds but scared all of us half to death!!!! We decided that he WASN'T going to drive back but was going to ride back on a 4-wheeler with one of us. So Jason took his motorcycle up closer to the road so he could pick it up easier and Glen got on with Nate and we all drove back to the pickup. The guys made Glen take off his boot so we could determine if we needed to stop at the hospital on the way home but his ankle didn't look too bad. He kept telling us that it was just sprained.
I have a feeling that we're headed in to the hospital today to get it x-rayed!! He can't put any weight on it so we're going to have to check it out.
I should mention that he didn't hit his head!! Glen goes into shock or something whenever he gets hurt. I've never had him pass out but he gets light headed or shakes and shivers. Even having a cold is hard on him at first. His body just doesn't handle things like that well. So......it looks like we've got a day at the hospital ahead of us. I think that I'll see if Tammy can watch Dean for me for a while.

I'm glad your divorce is done Sandy. Now you can just move on!
Janet, I'm glad you had fun with your friend and her mother! I love your new avatar too!
Judy, I hope things get better for Jessie and Steve. I know what it's like to be around someone grumpy all the time and I just can't stand it. I hope he realizes how hard it is on everyone else. Good luck with your surgery today!
Diana, I think you need a break too. Maybe you could talk to her about having another family member watch them on the weekends, like Janet suggested.
I had a talk with my brother about his wedding and they went on the weekend to look at a park/zoo to have it at. We had thought about that location too in the first place but we decided not to have an outdoor wedding because it's just more stress that day depending on the weather! But they are also renting the hall in the same location for the reception, which makes it easy to move inside if the weather isn't great. I am glad that they are going a totally different direction with theirs, so they won't compare. They will get married in July, 2013.
This weekend we had no plans, but ended up with lots of plans. We went into the city on Saturday, stayed overnight, checked out some churches for our wedding on Sunday, and then met up with some friends at a mall to hang out. We hadn't seen them since before we went to Europe! We didn't get home until yesterday evening, had a late supper, and went to bed. I kind of feel like I didn't even get a weekend!

Thank you all for the compliments on my avatar. It's a far cry from pretty , but at least I'm not scaring children...lol.
If possible Judy, let us know ASAP how your surgery went. I'll be on the nervous side until we hear from you. I'm sure everything will be fine, but you know how I am. I hope you'll be very happy with the results. Of course prayers will be said for them....as always.
Diana...when will Damon be let out of jail? Isn't there any place that they could rent for awhile? It so different when someone moves in with you, but when it's a whole family...it's really hard. Will Damon be able to find work? You know you and your family are always in my prayers.
I know you all have such great time this time of year with all the activities. I haven't been on a hayride in years, but do have fond memories. I've not heard of anyone reacting the way Glenn does when he gets hurt...what a scary thing to have happen. Let us know about the x-ray.
So glad your brother's wedding will not be a competition.now forget about their wedding and start enjoying making the plans for yours. I know it will bea beautiful event!

Glen decided not to go to the doctor. His foot shows a little bit of bruising but no swelling. Feyn and Jason have both broken their foot in about the same area and they said that there really wasn't anything the doctor did for it so Glen's decided not to spend the money to have nothing done. Anyway that's the decision for now. He got some crutches and got dressed....with a boot on one foot and a tennis shoe on the other......and is now sleeping on the couch!!! I know that he'll be out and about when he's ready.
Feyn was by this morning to check on Glen and we got to talking about Damon. He has very definite opinions about what we should and should not do. Anyway Glen and I have decided that before Damon gets out we're going to call a family meeting and have everyone help us decide what to do. Maybe it will help the family deal with this together. We'll see......
Janet, we're not sure when Damon will get out. He has another court date the middle of November and Dae Lynn thinks that they may let him out because he will have been in 5 or 6 months. Now she's not sure if Teen Challenge is where he needs to go and can't bear the thought of him being gone a year or more. It makes it hard for us to know what to do. Thanks so much for your prayers!!!!

Just a quick update. Mom fell today and we are at the ER. She had a lot of pain in the hip area when she fell, but has no pain now while lying still. I imagine she has broken her hip, but I guess we will know soon. Sigh.

10-24-2011, 04:34 PM
The stress reaction in mom's leg converted to a stress fracture when she fell. So, the good news is she doesn't have a broken hip. They will have to do surgery to fix the femur, but that recovery will be easier than a broken hip. That's about all I know. We haven't yet seen the ortho doc. Probably won't see him/ her till tomorrow.
Janet

Mom is OK today, no pain when the leg is still so she is just resting. They said maybe surgery around noon, but I haven't even talked to the surgeon yet and it's 11:00 so who knows.
Mom said she really didn't know how she fell or why. She said she was getting from her lazy boy chair to the wheelchair which she has done many times and then all of a sudden, she was on the floor. The leg may have broken and caused the fall, or the fall could have broken the leg, but I guess we will never know for sure.
I just met the internal medicine doctor who will follow her in the hospital and through rehab. I really liked her. She talked about some rehab facilities near our home, so that will be good if they are close to me. Mom will have to spend some time in rehab getting up and about again so she can go back to her assisted living apartment. She's not very hep on PT, but she's gonna have to do it.

Dean woke up sick at his stomach this morning. Dae Lynn went on to work but called after a little while to check on him. He was still sick and not able to keep anything down. She ended up coming home to take care of him. He's too small to catch himself when he's sick so we both smell horrible!!! He seems to be doing a little better because he's keeping some food down now. I sure hope that this is over by tomorrow!!!
I've got the Alley in a little while so I'll take a shower here soon. I'm excited about going because I've been at volleyball games for a couple of weeks. I miss the kids and seeing what all they do!! Next week it's moved back to Wednesday nights.

Oh Diana, I remember those days. Once when Abigail was about 4, we were in Oklahoma staying in a hotel and she got a stomach bug. She threw up in the bed with her mom who has a queasy stomach anyway, so I had to sleep with Abi (well lay there anyway) and when I heard her starting to throw up, I'd just hold a towel so she could throw up in it. Half the time she didn't even wake up. We did that most of the night. We were supposed to stay another day and ride the train home, but she didn't feel good and Brooke and I were so exposed we were afraid we'd all be sick on the train, so we rented a car and drove home. I'll never forget that adventure.
Mom is back in the room. The doc was able to do the less invasive procedure so barring complications, she should be OK. She woke up belligerent, which I have never seen before. Usually she is whiny tiny, but I've never seen her be mean! LOL! She's sleeping now, hopefully she is getting rid of all the meanness!

Mom woke up and she was completely calm and reasonable. She asked what was going on and I told her she was out of surgery and every thing was OK. She said OH, and asked if I was OK, then she promptly went back to sleep. She woke up again a while later and again, was completely calm and lucid. I asked if she hurt and she said No. I have class in the morning at 8:00, so I came home. She'll probably wake up at midnight and be awake all night. I couldn't stay up there at that time anyway and go to class at 8:00, I'd be a zombie!
Janet

I'm glad she didn't wake up mean again. Sometimes it can be a little un-nerving (sp) when someone we love is acting so out of character. It's great that she's going to be just fine. The PT will help her get better faster.

I had a crazy day ... Pulled into the parking garage at work, got out, left my keys in the ignition. Motor running, lights on, door unlocked, for about an hour before a girl who knew it was my truck called to check in me. At least I did t lock the door!!!! I'm in total overload.
Ended with a very nice dinner, at olive garden, with my daughter. Life is good.

Gayle, sorry to hear about your mom. I hope she recovers easily.
I'm getting things ready to leave for Seattle. I've been dragging out some warmer clothes, because it's actually cool there:D When I told Mike I was taking the laptop with me, he didn't like that idea too much so we went today and got an iPad 2. I have it all synched, so I'm taking it on the plane with me so I don't have to carry my MacBook. It will be so much easier to read my Kindle books on an iPad than on my phone!
I'll be staying longer than I really wanted to, but with the days I picked to travel, my round trip ticket was just $248!! I love Southwest Airlines:p

Gayle, I'm glad to hear that your Mother's surgery went well and that she's back to her sweet self!!! I imagine that she didn't even know that she was grumpy!
Betsi, have a great time with your son and daughter-in-law!!! It sounds like fun to go and travel a little......even if it is to your son's house. I imagine that there's a lot to do in Seattle!!
Dean's a lot better today!!! Dae Lynn and I each had to change clothes three times yesterday!!! Yuck!!! About 3 o'clock yesterday his little tummy started keeping drinks down. We had several little kids from the church that were sick yesterday so I think that one of the nursery workers must have been sick and exposed them......or possibly another kid.
Sandy, you need to go somewhere and relax. You are definitely stressed and need to de-stress. Is there a family memeber's house you can go to for the weekend and just do nothing but have a good time? If so you need to go!!!! Life has been too hard on you lately and you need to take your mind off of things and just have a good time!!!
I forgot to mention that my granddaughter, Kiley, ran a regional cross country race on Saturday and placed 10th!!! So she gets to go to State on Saturday. Glen and I are making plans to go and watch her!!! Anyway I think that Glen's going......with his leg.....hmmmm......we'll see. I may just take a chair and sit him in the shade!!! He's finally going to the doctor to have it checked out this afternoon. Anyway......we're so excited about Kiley!!! She's only a freshman but she's out running all of the other Fredonia team!!! This may not be the last time that we'll be at state!!!!

Betsi, have a great time.
Diana, I'm so glad Dean is better. Wow! Kiley sounds like she's quite a runner, that's really exciting!
Sandy, I did that once too, but it wasn't because I was stressed out like you, it was just because I was silly!!!! You do need to de-stress!
Mom is doing better today. Due to class and Gary having two doctors appts, I didn't get up here till about 2:00PM. She called me about 1:00 and told me if I didn't get up there she was going to whip me!!!!! She's getting a little feisty. The physical therapists came to work with her and she did really well. They recommended her for the rehab program here at the hospital. That is great news because I won't have to transport her to another facility on Friday. They still have to qualify her through Medicare for this program, so there is a chance she will have to go somewhere else, but hopefully not. They don't recommend everyone for the rehab program here at the hospital, so we are lucky they think she has the potential to do the program here.
Now for the bad news, Gary is not feeling well at all. He is having major trouble breathing today. Coincidentally, we had a routine appt with his heart doctor this morning. His lungs sounded so bad she called his pulmonary doctor and we went straight from the heart doctor's office to the pulmonary office. It really helps to have a doctor call another doctor!!!! Gary had to start on steroids to help him breathe better. I sure hope they help!

Diana, I'm glad Dean feels better. It's so hard to have such a sick little one! What did you find out about Glen's ankle?

Whew!! It scared me to hear that Gary wasn't doing well! I'm so glad that he's doing better!!!
You are being hit with a double whammy!! Your Mom AND your husband!!! However it sounds like your husband's better and your Mom's pt will work out great for you as well!!!
Today I have Karlie home sick!!! She's not as bad as Dean though. She had an upset stomach before Dae Lynn left for work and has just complained that her stomach hurts since then. She's not eating so hopefully she won't have trouble with throwing up. You couldn't explain to Dean that he should only take small sips of stuff......so he's drink and get sick......drink and get sick. She's well enough to still pick on Dean and tattle!!! It will be a long day!!!!!
Glen went to the doctor yesterday and they x-rayed his foot. He has a broken heel and a small bone is also broken on the bottom of his leg. The doctor is suppose to let us know if we'll have to cast it tomorrow. He was going to consult with someone else about it. Glen would prefer to not have a cast so I'm not sure if he'll get one or not. You never know with him until he actually does it!!!
Janet
10-27-2011, 07:27 AM
I feel for you Diana with both of them home and one sick. That can't be fun. Hope you're making her carry a bucket around with her just in case.
Poor Glenn...tell him to man up and where the cast if he needs it....lolol. Maybe he'll only have to wear one of them boot things. That wouldn't be so bad. At least he could take it off to bathe.
This morning I got my flu shot at the school for $15. Most around here are charging $25. Hopefully there will be no reactions. I still have trouble with my arm from a few years ago.
There is less than two weeks (Nov. 5th) till we have the estate auction of Mom's things. I'm dreading this so bad. It was bad enough taking the car back...just one more thing to prove she's gone and now the auction. I still cry at least once everyday. I miss her.
Jerry gets a pacemaker on Nov. 3. I hope everything goes well. He still smokes and coughs so bad that he sometimes can't breath. It scares me.
I really haven't done anything exciting or fun....lol. Just normal things around the house and then time on the computer. I have been using my crockpot a little bit more. I think of what I want to fix and then go to CrockPotGirls and find a recipe for it. Maybe I'll start cooking more...maybe, there's still the mess to clean up....any volunteers? LOL
DianaB

Nov. 5th is Feyn's birthday!!! We're planning on going hiking at a lake on the next day!! I hope the whole family goes!!
An auction sounds like fun!!! Of course, it will be a lot of work for you!! Don't pay attention to what things go for because what you think will bring a lot won't and things that you think won't go for much do......so it evens out in the end!!! I know that you'll be glad when this is all over!!!
I'm glad that you're cooking!!! The crockpot is sooo easy!!! Make sure you spay it before you use it and that will help it come clean! There's a new product out where you line pans with it.......I don't know if it would work in a crockpot or not......it might not be wide enough but you might want to check it out.
I hope that all goes well with Jerry's pacemaker. My FIL had one and got along so well with it but he did have to go in several times for a "tune up"!!!! After that he would feel so much better!!
Here's a picture of our "runner".......Kiley!!! We're so proud of her going to State!!!
1. Kiley is on the far left side.
2. Here she is with her Grandma!!! OMG....she IS taller than me!!!!

Long day, went by to see mom at 7:30 this morning and then at 8:00 tonight after class. She's doing OK, tired of the hospital, of course. She is not going to get to stay at the rehab at the hospital. I'm not sure if Medicare didn't approve it or if they decided she wasn't able to do the higher level of rehab. It really doesn't matter. She'll actually be closer to us in the facility that we will use. We will just have to transport her over there tomorrow or Monday - not sure when she will be released. I'm just looking forward to getting her settled into a rehab center so she can start getting some strength back.

I'm sure the hospital is doing what is best for your Mom. Hugs to both of you!!!
Karlie is better now......but Dae Lynn was sick in the night. She seems better but every once in a while complains that she's feeling worse. She's planning on going to Wal-mart this afternoon but we'll see how she's feeling.
Glen and I went to the hospital this morning and got Glen's cast put on. Glen's not happy about it but it sounds like it was the right thing to do in talking to the doctor. He's not suppose to put any weight on it for 3 weeks....Ha!!! He's already trying to figure out how he's going to drive his standard pickup!!!
We had another hayrack ride last night with our Alley kids. They were just wild......and my patience got very thin with them!!! Tonight is our youth group from church and I don't look forward to them either!!! We end up with trash all over and they don't care about anything.......not like the Chi Alpha group. This will be our last one.......I think!! Don't get me wrong......I love having the kids out but I do like them to be respectful and act responsible around the fire and to others. Everyone wants to play in the fire.
Janet

I'm sure you're ready for you Mom to start getting her rehab started. The hard part is making them want to do it when we're not around...lol. Mom always had the excuse she was just too tired. She had never liked any kind of exercises. We made her at least do a few of all the exercises so she never got away with that excuse..lol. Hope your Mom gains her strength back soon.
I was hoping Glenn would be able to wear the boot thingy. I've heard they are a bit more comfortable than a cast. Hope he heals quickly Diana. Is he just about done with harvest?
Maybe after the hayride you could have all the children gather and then pick up their mess. That's not right for them to accept the fun and be so disrespectful. Is there some kind of fencing or something like a exercise pens for dogs that you could put around the fire to keep them away from it?

YAY! They called back today and said mom COULD do the hospital rehab. HUH? Oh well, it's a great unit. We got her moved down there this afternoon and I think the care is going to be fabulous! Two of my former students were RNs there, one was her evening nurse and the other admitted her. Anytime we needed something, someone was there immediately. The floor where mom was transferred from was not so good. Sometimes you had to wait quite a while for someone to answer the call light. I'm really happy that she got to stay at the hospital rehab, everyone says it is very very good.

I'm glad your mom got to stay in a better place Gayle!
Last night we took Layla to the SPCA for their Howl-oween party :) She won best costume!!! She was a fairy princess on wheels :D Her prize had a bunch of big rawhides and bigger toys, so I think my parents' dog will be getting most of it :) Scott and I checked out the adoptable dogs, and they were all bigger dogs. There were two that stole my heart. All these other dogs were jumping and barking and there were two mastiff mixes in two seperate kennels, that just sat there and stared up at us with big sad eyes :( I wish I could have brought them home but they are just too big, or at least WILL be too big when they're fully grown. They were beautiful dogs though, and I hope someone adopts them soon!
Scott went to a Halloween party and slept on his friend's couch last night, while I came home with Layla. He's on his way home now. It's been quiet around here with just me and Layla :) She's curled up snoring on the couch right now and I'm doing laundry and paperwork for my new job!

Gayle I'm so glad things are working out for your Mom and that she gets to use the hospital rehab, especially since you're so confident in them.
This morning Rick and I went to Menard's in Lafayette and purchased a new front door and a new screen door. The one we have has been on the house since we built it in '76. I never did like the door and some cold air was beginning to come in so we just bought new. I'm so excited and anxious to get it put up.....hopefully before winter, but knowing my husband.....who knows.
Ricky had to work so he didn't get to go with us. We waited until he got home and then went out to eat. I got the catfish curls and jalepeno/creme cheese poppers and it was so good. Also drank 2 1/2 really cold BudLights too. I ate way more than I should have and I'm stuffed.
Now it's time for bed but wanted to check in here first.
HEY JUDY.......are you getting that snow I've been hearing about in New York?

Hi Everyone, I'm wondering about Judy too! I hope she is doing well.
Janet, we need a new storm door. We have a pretty front door on our new house, but there isn't a screen or storm door so we can't draw a breeze through the house. We found one that we want, but just haven't had time to get it yet.
I ran errands and worked inside and outside of my house today. WHEW! I am so far behind on everything. The house is just a mess - I've been so busy all I've done is sleep here. LOL! I did laundry, cleaned the kitchen and picked up other rooms, but still have a couple to go. I had to get some fertilizer on the yard - this is about the last week to do it, so I got some and put it on with my John Deere :D. Then I had to water and I am STILL watering. Due to the drought, we are only supposed to water before 10:00AM and after 7:00PM on Wednesdays and Saturdays. I put the fertilizer on this morning and so I've been watering like mad this evening trying to get everything wet down.
I ran up to see Mom, but only stayed for an hour. I just had too much to do. The nurses said she did good with rehab today. She is still having a really hard time, but I guess it will improve!

This morning I had a lot of small odds and ends to do and got them all accomplished. For the first time...Ricky had to open and close the store by himself today as the only manager there. He did have two employees but my little (lolol) boy was in charge. I'm so proud of him.
Rick stayed in the garage most of the day...so I did my odds and ends and then started with laundry...got it all done too.
As a bus driver we have to have an annual safety meeting. This year, instead of having a big meeting, all Indiana bus drivers watched the 5 videos and took the 5 tests online. I did a couple of the tests yesterday, but finished up the last 3 today. I passed all three thank God.
I really like the big meetings and seeing all the different bus drivers from our county, plus a few other counties too. This was nice too, in the privacy of my own home....with dogs barking!
Tomorrow Rick and Ricky work so I will have the day to myself. It's fall break and we get Monday off. I will be doing some running though, have to have my brothers sign some papers the lawyer gave me and turn them in, go to the bank, stop by Mom's for mail and then pick up some prescriptions. Guess I'll be a little busier than I thought.

Janet, sounds like you will have a busy "day off". But it is good to have a day off to get things done!
Gary and I ran errands today until almost 2:00PM - we didn't get started till 10:00 because someone :roll eyes: "slept in" (and that would NOT be me). Then I put together a stew for the crock pot and laid on the couch for a little bit before going out to eat and then over to see mom.
The nurses said she did 100% better with transferring today so that is good news. She looked pretty chipper!

Gayle, glad your mom's progressing.
Janet, You'll need a day off after your day off.
Lindsey, Layla is so lucky.
Friday, I got my new pickup truck, left it at my house and drove the Tahoe to Jeff's. I babysat Katey while they took Abby and Sarah to a school carnival and a Halloween party. Katey's at that cute babbling age, so it was so much fun. Love her smile.
They drove me home today and stayed only about an hour before taking off back home. They're taking over the payments on the Tahoe. I like it alot but it's just too big and I need a truck now. I plan to stop tomorrow and get some landscaping stones and trees to plant.
It was a fun weekend and I'm not too tired, but another day off would be great.

Did we just pass a weekend??? We were sooo busy!!! We had hayrack rides on Thursday and Friday. I think that we have one more this weekend then we're done.
Glen and I got up early on Saturday and drove to Lawrence to watch Kiley run for State. There were soooo many people!!! Kiley ended up in 45th place out of 97!!! We thought that was pretty good!! She had looked over the route the day before and she said that it was a hard route.....lots of hills!! She's just a freshman so I'm sure that we'll be going again before she gets out of high school!!
Then Glen and I went to Target.....well, I should say that I went and Glen sat in the car!! I guess that while I was inside Glen had an incident with a man that was parked in front of us. I had pulled in and parked 1/2 inch from his vehicle and he let Glen know that I had hit his car!! Glen let him know that we HADN'T hit his vehicle but he backed up.....and checked.....and found a small mark!!! Glen said that if you believe that then we need to call the police and see what they think!!! I guess he had his wife and small daughter with him and he could tell that she was embarassed. Anyway he ended up leaving.
Yesterday after church we took some friends out to eat! Then I came home and worked on Karlie's costume for Halloween. We had found a little lion costume for Dean and I already had a Dorothy costume.....but it was way too big so I had to do some alterations......and pinning!!! Reuger got to be Toto!!! The church had a Trunk or Treat where we played games and passed out candy to the kids. I dressed up like a Queen!! It was fun.....I had found a costume dress at our thrift store so I finally got to use it!!!
Today is finally a NORMAL day!!!! Amy is sick though. So far Glen and I have missed it!!

So far today I called my brother Jerry and he and I went and ate breakfast together. Then we went to Mom's house and he put the water pump on the camper so it would be set before the auction this weekend.
I had to have him sign some papers for some stock Mom had so I called Brad and he joined us at Mom's to sign his papers. Of course he came....he's getting money. I went to the bank, took the papers to the lawyer and then went to Wal Mart. Needed to get my prescriptions and some more glucosomine. While there, I found 3 long sleeve tops that I liked and each were under $10. Also had to buy a new mouse for my laptop since my other one died.
Rick texted me and said he got transfered from the collision body shop to the used car shop. He's not happy. It's because he's older and can't work quite as fast as all the young pups they have working there. He'll probably end up with a pay cut which is gonna hurt us pretty good. Even though I no longer want our marriage, I still feel bad for him. He had to put up with some crap from his younger co-workers, basically making fun of him. Not sure of all the details of the transfer until he gets home this evening. He was hoping he could retire from there, but he may have to try and find something else. Jobs just aren't out there, especially at our age.
Have today off for Fall Break. Did get a lot accomplished, so the rest of the day is gonna be easy.

Weird work day. Having lots of attendance problems with my girls. Their managers come to me complaining, so I've got to figure out how to correct it again. I've run out of options.
Stopped at chuys and left to get quick hugs from Laura, Chrissy and delaney when I saw that they were in the area.
I'm excited that Jeff is coming this weekend to try and finish my house repairs. Then, I can start the yard. Woohoo

Sorry about your problems at work, Sandy. I hope that things get better. It will be exciting to get all of your home repairs done so you can move on to other things.
Janet, It sounds like you're coming along on getting all of your Mom's things settled. I know that you'll be glad when it's all done.
Sorry about Rick's job. You would have thought that they would have talked to him before moving him into a different area. Bummer.
Gayle, I'm so glad that your Mom was able to stay where she was at and I know that it's reassuring to know that you have friends that will be watching over her. It sounds like she's doing really well with physical therapy.

Very tired this evening. Gary had a routine appt with his kidney doctor. His kidneys are not doing so well. We thnk it is because his heart doctor changed his heart meds last month. So, we changed them back today and I hope that helps. The kidney doctor used the "D" word - dialysis. Gary is not there yet, but inching closer. I hope the med change will reverse that "inching closer" trend.
Mom continues to do well. I found out today that when she is ready to be discharged from rehab, the nurse from her assisted living facility will come to rehab and do an evaluation to see if she is ready to come back to her apartment. She will need some help, for sure, and the assisted living facility provides help, but she must be able to do some things on her own. I sure hope she is well enough to go back to her apartment and does not have to go to a skilled nursing facility for an interim stay. I'm sure she'll be fine in 5 more weeks when she can bear her full weight on the leg. Until then though, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
We had a flat today on the pickup. It was sitting in our driveway, thankfully. We have roadside assistance (for when we pull the travel trailer) and it covers our vehicles too, so we just called them to come change it for us. Our driveway is sloped somewhat and it was going to be a little tricky getting it jacked up. We figured that we pay for the service, we might as well use it.
Janet

Gayle, I pray Gary's kidneys improve with the med change. I wouldn't want anyone to go through kidney problems...it's not always easy.
It's great your Mom is improving so well. She must be a strong woman like her daughter.. :) As long as she continues to do her therapy she'll probably be able to out run me...lol
Rick isn't really liking the new position at work. He's working on nothing but trade-in vehicles, not his favorite thing to do. I wish he could find something else, but he has done vehicle body work since he was 18 so not sure what else he could find.
Had the dogs outside in their area yesterday and kept hearing them barking. I would yell out to be quiet, but it didn't do any good. So I quietly took a peak outside to see what they could be barking at and it was the kitty. She was pacing in front of them since they were behind a fence...lol....so funny. She knew they couldn't get her so she just pranced around teasing them...lol.
My brother Jerry is having the pacemaker put in today. I'm so nervous I'm half sick. His wife and two daughters and son-in-law are with him and will call as soon as they know something. I saw him yesterday, hugged him and told him how much I love him. Jerry just isn't in the best of health and it scares me so bad. They told him he would be staying overnight.
Cleaned out my garage a bit yesterday and loaded up some things to take to the auction. Things I just wanted to get rid of and couldn't think of a better way to do it. Not really anything to donate, but like they say "one man's junk is another man's treasure".
The guy I have doing the auction is a wonderful auctionneer. I've known him for a long long time and use to date his brother John. I know he'll do a great job. His wife Beth has been in at the house separating some things and putting like things together. Hopefully it will be a good sale, but we're not looking to make much, especially since they charge 25%. Oh well, there is a lot to get rid of and this is the best way to do it I guess.

I've been sick. I woke up yesterday aching and hurting all over plus running a fever. Dae Lynn took Dean over to Tammy's and she watched him so I didn't have to worry about him. I ended up sleeping most of the day. The flu's been going through the family and I'm the last to get it so we're done!! Today I still ache and have a headache but am a lot better but I'm still taking it easy.
Glen was watching Dean this morning while I took a bath and he had a phone call.......well, Glen can only do one thing at a time so he didn't pay any attention to Dean. He got a whole box of Chex and dumped it ALL on the floor of the living room!!! Ornery little guy!!!!
Janet, I'm sure that you're so busy this week with the auction and all. I hope it all goes well and you have great weather!!!
Gayle, it sounds like your Mom is doing well. I know that she has the best of care with you watching over her......and the same with Gary!! I know that you and the doctor are keeping a close eye on Gary's kidneys and other problems. You're a good wife and daughter!!!

Today I went to Mom's to see if I could help do a thing and most was already done, so I came back home. Had to go to a bus driver meeting today so they could tell us they fired the transportation director and a bus driver. They both are married with kids that attend our school and they were having an affair. The TD has been married 20 years and has two teen daughters and the driver has been married about the same with 5 kids ranging from 2 - 17 years of age. They had been the gossip for quite some time. So now the drama is over....I'm so glad they are gone.
Tomorrow is the auction.....hope it goes well.
I have missed a few days, and I have to catch up!
I went to the doctor yesterday, and he said I am doing fine. He took out the stitches, and now I just have to wait for whatever swelling there is to go down. My upper eyelid on one eye is really annoying, because of the way the stitches were. It is annoying, and intefering with my vision a bit. He said it will go back to normal, and I sure hope it's soon. I still have to take it easy, which I am not used to, but I think it's only for a couple of more weeks.
Then since I was in Schenectady, I went to a nice mall there. I cannot get used to the shopping here! Macy's was beautiful, clean and pretty, and the staff so helpful, but the store is so small! I am a city girl, and am used to big stores that are well stocked with everything you could want. I wanted to try on a coat they have advertised, and which is on sale. They didn't have it, and don't even have a petite department. I was going to order online which is much cheaper, so I just ordered it and hope for the best. I can return it if it doesn't fit. Annoying!!!
Gayle, I am sure you will keep Gary off dialysis! I'm also sure you will make sure your Mom gets the care she needs. You need a vacation in Hawaii, just laying on a lounge chair! You are the best wife and daughter!
Sandy, how nice that the house is moving along so nicely! How is it living there? I bet it's comfy and cozy. Good luck with getting the staff under control! It reminds me of teaching, keeping the kids under control, and avoiding the administrators!
Janet, I am praying for your brother. He will be fine. They do these procedures so easily now. I know you love him, and that will help him recover. I am sorry about Rick's job. I hope he didn't have to take a pay cut. As long as he is working, it is good though. I hope he gets used to it soon!
Diana, I hope you feel better! The flu is awful! Just stay in bed and take it easy. Maybe you can catch a good movie or something on TV while you're at it, if you feel well enough.

Judy, it's good to hear that you're doing well. I can't wait to see pictures of you!!
Janet, Enjoy today!! You'll have a lot of people you know show up at the auction so enjoy seeing your friends!!! You're in my thoughts!!!
I'm feeling better but not completely. I have a headache. I need to go and take some ibuphrophen but I like to wait a while after I take my other meds. Hopefully it will help.
I had made plans with all of the kids to go hiking tomorrow a couple of weeks ago but it's really cooled off and it's suppose to be rainy so I've got to figure out what to do. Glen's broken his foot since then so he wouldn't be able to go and he's the one who really loves that kind of thing. I may just fix something to eat and have everyone over after church. We can play pool, ping pong, or air hockey in the basement. We'll see what happens.
Today is my son's 37th birthday!! It's so hard to believe that he's almost 40!!! I don't feel a lot older than that myself!!! I do have to say that I have a wonderful son!!! I so wish that all of you could meet him!! I'm so proud of him!!! He turned out pretty good considering he was born to 17 year old kids!!!!

The auction went very well, everything sold and for a good price. It was horrible watching things go to people that I didn't care for, especially a couple that are friends of Jerry's. It was just a hard day period and I would rather have not been there. I don't think I've stopped crying for much length of time. My Mom's things, her treasures are gone and the house is empty. I have to go clean now, but will wait a few days. I have a few errands that need to be done first.
Today, I swept the floors and did laundry. That's about it.

Oh Janet, that must have been very hard, I can't imagine. My mom had to get rid of all her things when she moved down here with me, so I won't have to go through that. I can't remember, what are you all going to do with her house? You'll feel better after some time passes, you know your mom wouldn't have wanted you to be so sad.
Gary and I went to the deer lease this weekend and I am POOPED! He shot a deer so now he's got to get it all cut up over the next few days. We'll keep the tenderloin and some backstrap for chicken fried steak and then have the rest made into summer sausage. There's a guy in town that makes the BEST venison summer sausage. We haven't had any in quite a while so I am ready.
But I am really really tired. These weekends at the lease just really take a lot of work. It won't be quite so bad the next time - it's just that we have had so much to do to get things out there organized. I really love being out there, but i don't like all the getting ready to go, and cleaning up after we get home.
It sounds like your day was very hard, Janet. It may take you a while to get back to yourself, but have faith. I know you do, and I will keep you in my prayers.
Go Gary! I am so glad he got a deer, Gayle. How many weekends are you planning to go to the lease?
I did nothing today. I was going to go see Jessie and the kids, but they had plans. I'll go over tomorrow after school for a cdouple of hours. I hardly had them sleep over since August! They went on vacation, and then things just keep coming up. I hope to get them in a couple of weeks. I miss them!
I have to admit that I have been enjoying doing nothing for the past couple of weeks since the surgery. I am bored at times, but I feel like I needed this peace and quiet. It's like I'm soaking up energy, and getting rid of stress.

Judy, I like to do nothing sometimes too! We won't go back to the deer lease till the Friday after Thanksgiving. I'm not sure how many times we'll go. The season is over about the middle of January and we might go every two- three weeks.
How far away is it? We are in the beginning of deer hunting season. Bows are allowed; no guns yet.
When guns are allowed, you can see tons of married men, off for a weekend of beer and butt watching with the guys,, dressed from head to foot in brand new camos, who pick up a deer carcass on their way home for about $600.00.

Gayle, you do so much for Gary!!! You just amaze me!! Do you ever have time for yourself??? It's no wonder you're tired!!!! Taking care of your Mom and Gary!!! Wish I lived closer I'd run over and help you get things cleaned up and put away........you could watch Dean for me while I did it!!!!! LOL
But....Yay.....Gary got a deer!!!! I love deer sausage and jerky!!!! That's exciting!!! I bet he was so happy!!!!
Janet, I'm so sorry that the sale was hard. Hugs. At least you know that you kept what you wanted and you got the best price you could out of the rest. Don't even think about where the stuff was going.
I know that when I finally got my Dad's apartment cleaned out it was hard to close the door that final time and I cried. It was just so final. It still brings tears to think about. I think that was the hardest thing I did.....was close that door.

Regular Monday work day for me. Met Laura and her girls at chilis for supper. They want me to read the hunger games books, so there'll be no housework going on around here. I sure wish I had finished painting BEFORE I moved in!

Yep, that pretty much sounds like where our deer lease is located. With all that Gary has spent throughout the years on the deer hunting clothes, binoculars, guns, deer blinds, lease, etc etc., we could have bought a deer hunting ranch, I'm quite sure. Our lease is about 110 miles from where we live - not too far in Texas terms. We ate lunch Sunday at the little town nearby and if the men in the restaurant weren't dressed in church clothes, they were in camo! LOL!!!
Saturday was the first day of gun season - it's been bow season for the past month. The husband on the lease with us killed a deer a couple of weeks ago with his bow.

Thanks Diana. Yes, I do a lot for Gary, but I love doing it - most of the time. His time is limited and there will be a time when he is not able to do these kinds of things. I want him to have as much enjoyment for the time he has left. 60% of people with his diagnosis (heart failure) die within 5 years of the initial diagnosis. He was diagnosed 8 years ago, so he is beating the odds. And that is combined with the fact that he has had diabetes for 17 years, lung problems and now kidney problems. I just want him to be able to do the things he can do for as long as he can do them. Sometimes though, I just want to stay home alone like Judy!!!

I'm right there with you Sandy on the daylight savings time. I absolutely love DST - I don't like it now when it is dark by 6:00 - BUT - it really messes me up for about a week. I feel tired and worn out all week long. I force myself to stay up to my usual bedtime, but I am miserable mostly all evening.
I understand what you are doing for Gary, Gayle. My father did the same dor my mother, who had rheumatic fever, and lots of heart damage. She died at 56. He gave her whatever she wanted. I also give Jessie whatever I can because of her MS. It's a one day at a time life with MS. She is doing well now, but I see some cognitive changes, like memory issues. I never mention it to her. I don't ecen knows if she is aware of it. It just makes me so sad, but I don't dwell on that. I pretty much go along with whatever she wants, and am supportive of everything she does. She could live like this until she is old and gray, or she could go downhill at any time. She should enjoy every day!!!
I never seem to finish my posts!
I missed Mackenzie's school show last night. Jessie forgot to tell me until yesterday morning, and I said I wasn't going to go. I am going today to Kassidy's first gymnastics class, and will see the kids today. I planned on going over to the school last night anyway for about an hour, but my eyes bother me at night, so I missed it.
Guilt!!!!!

Since the Monday after the auction I haven't done a whole lot. Went back to Mom's once to let the appraiser in (my brothers were there too) and to get mail. Trying to keep things up here keeps my mind occupied some.
Found out my younger brother is making smart a$$ remarks about me behind my back which is hurtful. I try to ignore it, but it still hurts. He's telling people that it wouldn't surprise him if I made a claim to the estate for taking care of my Mom. I never even thought of it, but since it's obvious he's only worried about his share of the estate.....I just may have to do it now.
I'll be glad with the estate is totally closed, but it will be a while yet. Still waiting on the Will to be authenicated in Florida and once that is, I'll be made the Exectutrix and then can start the sale on the place Mom had there. We had the house here apraised and once it's formulated will be sent to the attorney and then on to me. Not a big house, just two bedroom and the appraiser thinks it will be somewhere between the high twenties to low thirties. I think, but not sure, but we may purchase it. Our house is paid for and our rental will be paid off June of 2013, so we'll see.
I just can't see living out here when I'm old....trying to take care of this house two garages, shed and an acre yard. We are 15 minutes from town and the winter driving isn't fun now, let alone when I'm older. Mom's house is just the right size and in town although being in town is the only draw back. BUT....hopefully it will be awhile before we won't be able to take care of things here. We're just trying to think ahead and make good judgements.

Janet, I imagine that anyone that knows Brad understands what kind of person he is and they probably don't listen to his complaints. Don't worry about it.
It sounds like you have the hard part done so now you can relax a little. It's just going to take time to get all of your Mom's estate finished up.
I think that buying your Mom's house would be a good idea. Maybe Ricky could rent it from you if he wants to get out on his own.
On Tuesday it was rainy and cold here so I made homemade gingerbread cake with hot tea and invited all of the kids and grandkids over. It's something that I've always done since my own kids were little. It ended up that Daya and Kiley were sick......Kera was in town......and Feyn and Tammy are dieting so I didn't have very many that came.
Besides Dae Lynn, Dean, and Karlie.....we had Karley and Elijah. Later Jaci and Nate came over. Karley and Elijah ended up staying for a long time because they didn't want to be around Kiley while she was sick!!! We had a good time.
I have a friend and her daughter is looking for a babysitter for her daughter and I'm considering doing it. I told her that I would think about it. I'd make a little bit of money and I wouldn't have to watch her every day. She's a sweet little girl and only a few months old. Her Grandma and I have been best friends since we've been married but we don't do as much any more but our husbands are doing scuba diving together. I've known the Mom since she was born and she's a sweetie. I'll probably end up giving it a try and having a test period first before I decide.

Diana, I would have come for hot gingerbread!!! You are such a good Mom/Grandma!
Janet, why would Brad think that you shouldn't get money for taking care of Mom? I'm sure you had extra expenses. I know you wouldn't expect money for your time, although you certainly could put in for that. But, you did feed her, and drive her, and I'm sure a million other things that cost money.

I'm wishing you luck, Gayle!! Oh....and Happy Birthday too!!!! I hope you have the greatest birthday ever!!!!
Last night the high school had a progam called "Just Us". It's where the kids in music get to pick their own songs and sing them. This year they also had a chili supper to go with it so it was very casual. Karley, Kiley, and Kera, all sang several songs. They each have good voices .......very soft voices and hard to hear them....but good. Music is something that I always liked and I'm so happy to have the girls involved in it. My Dad would have loved it!! I thought of how proud he would have been of the girls several times through the evening.
I'm doing so good on my diet!!! I've lost 25 lbs so far!!!! I was at a stand still for awhile but once I cut out diet pop then I started dropping again. I'm not sure if it's the sodium or what it is that makes a difference but something sure does. I'm looking for some new jeans because my jeans just hang on me!! I've been getting some compliments too......makes me feel good!!!!
I had heard some negative things from a doctor through a friend so I talked to my doctor about Atkins and she was supportive. I had a lipid blood test done and an A1C but I haven't gotten the results back yet. I'm really anxious to hear how they are. I've stopped my diabetic medicines and a few nights ago I quit using the breathing machine for sleep apnea because I'm not having problems any longer. If things change then I'll go back on it because it does make a difference. I can't tell you how much better I feel!!!!

Diana! I'm so proud of you. You have made a big change and you are doing so well! I know you must be feeling better too! Congratulations!!!
I got mom home today. She did really well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that everything will go well. She is able to walk very well with the walker and I got extra help at the center. They will help her with dressing and grooming every morning and evening. She doesn't need help dressing, but help getting her clothes and grooming items together. It's hard to do when you have to use a walker. They will stay with her while she is in the shower, she doesn't need help showering, but I think someone needs to be with her, plus she needs help with the dressing and grooming afterward. Someone will also push her in her wheelchair down to the dining room and back. Again, she can push herself, but I know she doesn't want to. We have to pay extra for this help but I don't think it will be permanent as once she can bear full weight on her leg, and a few more weeks of physical therapy, she should be back to walking with only a cane. Keep your fingers crossed that all goes well!

Judy...Brad is just a plain spoiled a$$ hole! That's the only explanation I have. I did endure some expenses and still struggling a bit, but she was my Mom and I didn't expect to get paid. He's probably just worried someone may get more inheritence than him. What a pig!
Diana....I'm so proud and happy for you!!! You're doing great on your diet.
Gayle...HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! It's great your Mom is getting the help she needs while still being able to do for herself. That is so important I think for their recovery. She's so blessed to have you as her daughter.
Today was just a normal day with running my bus route. I did get my hair cut and then went to a friends house to try some Mary Kay make-up. I did order some so I'm anxious for it to come in. This evening Ricky and I went to Mom's to get whatever mail was delivered and to bring home her computer desk that I bought at the auction. I have one already but mine is soooo big and is "L" shaped. Takes up a lot of space. This one is a desk with a hutch.
Tomorrow I'm planning on going to the library for a arts and craft show. I should see plenty of people I know and my friend and her mother will be there too. Afterwards we will be going to Applebee's for lunch. I'm really looking forward to it, it feels so good to be doing things with a friend instead of keeping myself in the house all the time.

Mom is doing well today. She says she feels stronger and better. I was a little worried about how she would do on her own, but she seems to be doing OK (knock on wood)!

I just knocked Gayle!!! :)
Today I didn't sleep as late as I wanted, but felt rested at 7:30. I went to the library for the arts and crafts show. It was really nice. There were some beautiful photographs and one painted picture I would have loved to have but the price was $1750...lol...a little out of my league. There were also lots of handmade jewelry and pottery. I'm not a big pottery fan, but some of the pieces were very pretty. All the items were handmade or painted by local artists. This was the first one I've ever gone to and really enjoyed it.
After the library my friend, her 94 year old mother went to Wal Mart to pick up a few items and then went to Applebee's for lunch. It was so good and the conversation and laughs were fun.
I then went to my brother Jerry's house. Someone had bought one of mom's purses at the Salvation Army and there were old charge cards and something with her bank account number on it. The account had been closed, but this lady was nice enough to call my brother (his and my phone number was in there too) and then brought the items to his house. He wanted me to keep them with all the other stuff I have. It was a pretty nice day, little windy, but we sat on his front porch in the swing and talked for about an hour. It was really nice and a great way to end my day in town.

Diana, you are doing great on your diet! Way to go!!
Gayle, I missed your birthday! Happy belated birthday!!!
Janet, that was really nice of the lady to call. It sounds like you had a nice day!
I am pretty exhausted. I have been painting all day! I decided that we would tackle the main bathroom this weekend. It is probably the room I've most wanted to paint since we moved in. It was a dark, dark, dark forest green sort of color. There is white wainscotting which made it look a little less dreary, but the dark color really didn't do much for me. It was just too dark all the time! Especially now when it's pitch black in the mornings and I try to get up and go and get ready in a dark bathroom, it just doesn't wake me up. So yesterday we bought some supplies, and today I used two coats of primer (and still some green was poking through!) and so far, two coats of a light robin's egg blue. I'm just waiting for it to dry now so I can see if I need to go over any spots before putting it all away. My hand and wrist are really sore, but the room looks so cheerful and HUGE!

We (me really) cleaned out the garage yesterday and it looks so much better! Gary isn't feeling well, he's got a cold. But he was able to tell me where some things should go. I'm so glad to have things put away and straightened up. Gary is real bad about doing something and then just leaving things laying around after he is finished. I know part of it is that he has very little energy and after he uses up his energy to do whatever he is doing, he has little left to put everything away. But still, the garage can start looking awful after a few weeks.
I also worked on my garden beds a little bit. I needed to take out some old okra plants and some old zinnias. I still have some things to get out, but I'll wait till next weekend - I only have one big trash bin and it is full right now.
I need to make a run to Walmart and Petco here in a few minutes. Think I'll go before the crowds get bad.

I worked like a big girl this weekend. Painted, cleaned, dropped a hammer in the toilet and broke it I am so tired, but my house is almost done.
Have a good week.

Did you break the hammer or the toilet? Sandy...I'm glad you're almost done so you can start really enjoying your home.
Today I went to a different church in town with my neighbor and fellow bus driver. I really enjoyed the sermon very much. They have a band that plays, two guitarists, drummer, organ, piano and two singers. The band is very good, but way too loud for me. I'm planning on going again to give it another try...just not sure if this one is for me or not. I knew a few people, but I guess there is a packed house at the 10:45 service and I went to the 9:00 service. So I may give that time a try. I just normally like the early morning service so I have the rest of the day to do whatever. We'll see, oh...it's a Baptist church...I'm not Baptist so I'll just have to see.

Sandy, I sure hope you broke the hammer and NOT the toilet!!!!! The hammer will be much easier to replace!!!
Janet, I'm glad that you tried a new church!!! Any church with a band is likely to be loud......it's something that you get used to. I like the up beat music that they play but I know it's not for everyone!!
Judy, I bet your new bathroom looks great!!! I'm not a big fan of hunter green so I imagine the blue looks much, much better!!! Some little yellow accents with pale pink would look so pretty!!! I have my guest room in those colors and really like it!!!
Gayle, I know that I've said this over and over, but you're such a good wife!!! Here Glen is with a cast on his foot and I get pretty irritated at stopping what I'm doing to help him out!!! I've thought of you often........You're a Saint!!!!! I'm so ready for Glen to get out of that cast!!!!!......and it's only been 2 weeks or so!!!!
Speaking of Glen, he was gone for the weekend........the guys went to Chadwick and rode cycles so he had to go too!! He took it pretty easy and rode with Feyn and Elijah. It was Elijah's first time so they took it pretty easy. Jaci and Nate went too.....plus a bunch of other guys!!!
Dae Lynn and I stayed home, cleaned, and watched kids!!! The kids were a LOT better than they were last weekend!!! Dean ended up with a bad runny nose and didn't feel good so he was miserable but some ibuphrophen helped him feel better. The weather was so nice on Sunday and we talked about going 4-wheeling but all of them were with Glen at Chadwick!!!!
I tried on some slacks that I had bought at a garage sale in a smaller size and they fit!!! I was in a size 22 and these are an 18!!! I'm so excited!! I've been looking for some sugar-free stuff to make candy for the holidays. I found some sugar-free dipping chocolate and sugar-free oreos so I'm going to make the cream cheese balls.......Yummmm.......!!!!!!!! I can have these in moderation!!!
Diana, I was thinking the same thing! Sandy, was it the toilet or the hammer?
Lindsey is doing her bathroom, not me! I love the color you chose, Linds, but I am not redoing anything right now!
I had Kass on Friday night. It was the first time she slept over without one of the other kids. We had such a good time! She was so good. She has to be kept busy all of the time. I wish I had her energy! I used to!!!! We watched 2 movies, painted, did some pottery, washed the dogs, slept, ate and ate and ate, and she played tons of games on my ipad. She is really growing up, although she is still a little girl. She is only 9!
I have been spending a lot of time at home since the eye surgery. I am getting a little bored with this! I have to go to the doctor on Friday. I would like to begin exercising soon. I'll see what he says. I like the way I look. It's not comletely healed, but feels so much better. The vision in my right eye is still a little blurry, but much better than it has been. The eyes get dry when you fuss with them, and it effects vision.
I've been weighing in at 132.5 - 134.5 for the past few weeks. I was 129.5 when I went on maintenance. I called the nutritionist today, and she said the 2 pound difference is normal. Depends on how much salt, stress, etc., I would like to keep it down to 130 - 131. She said I may not be eating enough calories! I'm keeping track, and I think I am. I can eat about 1300-1400 cal/day to maintain the weight I want to be. I can raise it up when I begin exercising.
If I can tighten up my stomach a bit by exercising, I am fine at this weight, so it remains to be seen!
