I finally just ask Rex point blank this morning if I could put engineered hardwood flooring in our bedroom. And he said YES!!! It's real hardwood on the surface that clips together and installs like laminate. It's really pretty and should hold up very well in a bedroom. Our carpet needs changing so badly and I really don't want to put carpet back. I told him that I'd install it and do the quarter round trim, but I would probably need some help with the thresholds. There are two doors where we currently transition from tile to carpet, so would need a transition threshold at these points.

He said, that he thought it would look nice!! YES!! finally. He also said that of course he would help me install it. I want to use lots of sealer between each plank to make it more moisture resistant. This is what is done when it's installed in wet areas like kitchens, so I want to do this on the whole floor due to the pups.

It will be sometime after the first of the year before we will have time to do this, but I'm doing it soon before he forgets that he agreed. I'm really excited!!!!!

This is something like what I would want:

http://www.builddirect.com/Engineered-Hardwood-Floors/-Acacia-Handscraped-Walnut/ProductDisplay_8804_P1_10076434.aspx?utm_id=29&cpao=131&cpag=All+Product+Lines

I really like this floor. We'll be getting it from Lowe's though probably, and I'm flexible on manufacturer, but this is the look I'm going for. Hand scraped walnut would go well with the furnishings and wall color, and I believe with transition will with my ceramic tiles. Will need a sample to know for sure. Our price would be much less that this website shows.

Our carpet is so bad in this room. It has to goooooo!!!

It's going to be beautiful Marilyn!!! Here in Indiana...I would rather have carpet in the bedrooms...love getting out of bed to nice warm carpet in the wintertime. BUT.....I sure would like to have it in the rest of the house. Once you get it done...you have got to share pictures.

Marilyn, that floor is gorgeous. I looked for a month before I found my flooring. I would recommend that you look at a whole room of the hand scraped flooring though. That's what I thought I wanted but when I saw it in my friends whole house, I didn't like the waviness, especially in the daylight. It's hard to explain, but all I could see was waves across the floor. Now she loves it, but I did not and I wouldn't have known that if I hadn't seen it in her house.

Gayle, thank you so much for your suggestion. Rex used the hand scraped engineered hardwood in his last parade home. There was over 900 sq ft of it in the kitchen, dining, living alone, and that is where I fell in love with it. I like the wavy look of it. To me, it looks worn and refinished. It's wonderful that we all have different tastes though, or this world would be a very very boring place. I may change my mind when we really get serious about picking the flooring. I do love yours, but with my furniture and walls, a darker color is needed for it to work. In our next home, we may be able to go lighter.

I know we can't do it until after the first of the year, but I'm not waiting long as stated before. Our men have ways of forgetting they said things. ;)

You are so right Marilyn, it is great that we all have different tastes, otherwise everything would be pretty boring. I'm glad you have seen the habdscraped flooring. I loved it in the sample, and i came so close to putting it in my house, but it was too wavy for me once i saw it in a whole house. I really do love the way it looks so rustic and old. I really like the dark color too. We were limited in color by the library paneling in the living room. But I favor the darker woods n

Just had to share this with y'all. We were driving to one of Rex's jobs yesterday and the new floor came up in the discussion. He told me he thought it will look really really nice and wished he'd thought of this a couple of years ago. He's so ready to get rid of the carpet. I didn't say a thing.

If you will recall, and I'm sure I have posts to this effect, I wanted to put wood in the bedroom a couple of years ago, but he didn't like the idea then.

Men are such amazing creatures!!!!

LOL! Marilyn, isn't that JUST like a man. You are so smart to not remind him of his opposition! I'm so glad that you are getting the new floor in the bedroom. You will just love it!

That floor is just gorgeous Marilyn! Is it a bit distressed? I have a dark laminate floor and wish it was distressed. It shows every footprint! As long as it has something to break up the smooth surface, it will be gorgeous!!! (I finally learned to go over my floors every day, and it looks good now, but I don't work!)

I use vinegar and water. What will you use on this floor? Can't wait for pictures!
