Ok, so here's my delima. My hubby's boss, the head of surgery at the hospital, invited my hubby and me to his house on Friday for a "Halloween" Party. This surgeon plays in a band and his band will be playing at this party he's hosting on Friday. My hubby said it is a "Halloween" Party and I asked him if we are supposed to dress up and he said that he didn't know. None of our friends are going because we were the only ones invited, so it is not like we can ask them if they are dressing up in a costume or not. So what should I do? Dress up or not? I don't want to go to this big-time surgeon's house and be the only one not dressed up, but I also don't want to be the only one dressed up either! Ugh......men just don't know how to ask questions, do they!!!!

I would say dress up. Since the surgent plays in a band, my guess is he's a fun lovin kinda guy. Fun=dress up. I wouldn't go over board though try to wear something that's a custome, but can also just be a party outfit with the removal of a couple accessories. I would dress up, if it were me.

That is kinda what I was thinking. Dress up in something that can also be a regular outfit if I just remove a few accessories.

So, now my question is........ANY IDEAS?! :p :p :p

You could call his wife and ask her and also ask if there is anything she needed help with. We haven't attended any Halloween parties in years so I don't know what the correct protocol is.

I agree. I think that you should call his wife. She'll understand about you wanting to know what to wear. Also, you'll have already made a connection with someone at the party and can then introduce yourself to her as the one who called about what to wear.

I went as female zorro last year. Simple black dress, cape, mask, sword. Remove cape mask sword, lovely girl in the perfect black dress.

Fairy: Cute dress (silver, or pastel) fairy wings, wand

Devil: Red dress, horns, pitch fork

Cat: Black dress/or pants, ears, tail

Gangster (what I'm going as this year): pinstripe pants, black top, fedora, pretend machine gun.

Thank you all SOOOOOO much for the wonderful ideas. I will try to contact his wife, but if I don't get in touch with her, I will go with the idea of wearing something cute with removeable accessories. GREAT ideas!!!!!! THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH! Seriously!

Excellent idea!! Just call and thank her for the invitation, ask to bring anything, then casually throw in the question of dressing up or not.

This party sounds like a blast!!!!

Or you could go dressed up and look in the window to see if anyone else is dressed up and if not go take your costume off. LOL. Just a silly thought.

I wonder about myself some times.
