I was bitten by a kitten this weekend that I was trying to rescue. It was my fault, and not malicious at all on the kitten's part. Well, when the kitty went in for a health check, the doc discovered how deathly sick this sweet boy was and he had to be put down :( Anyways, since I was bitten and he was dying, there was a chance that I could have contracted RABIES. I spent all day yesterday in the ER getting rabies shot at the advise of my doctor. After they shot me up 4 times, I asked if I could have my rabies tag! :) To make a long story short, they had a rush put on the testing of the cat and it came back a few minutes ago negative! Yeah!
Has anyone ever had something like this happen to them or had to get rabies vaccines?

My sister-in-law was out for a walk and a bat swooped down and either scratched or bit her (she didn't know because she covered her head with her arm). She had to take rabies shots, only back then (maybe 20 years or so) she had to have a shot every day in her stomach for, I think, three or four weeks. A new shot for rabies came out right after she had already started her treatment. I remember that her stomach was so sore and that she lost a lot of weight.
You're very blessed that you only have to have four shots!! I'm glad that the kitten's test came back negative.

That is so scary....thank God there was no rabies. There was a child bitten by a bat (I think) here in Indiana and she died. Good thing you had it all checked out and took precautions just in case.

Yeah the side effects of rabies is DEATH. Pretty scary. It was kinda a wake up call, and I believe everything happens for a reason...so I am taking this as a serious lesson learned, even though I am healthy, thank God!
YIKES!
I'm glad you're ok!
What a scary experience for you to have gone through!

My grandpa had a cat on the farm that beat up pretty bad by a raccoon (the cat killed the racoon). My grandpa found it under a manger & was trying to shoo it out & it bit him through a leather glove. He had to kill it to get it to let go of his hand. He took it to the vet & they sent it away for testing, but it was negative.

One can never be too careful when it comes to animals bites. Beside the worse being rabies...the bites can get so badly infected. Always best to get them checked out.
