 Does anyone know if birth control (the pill) can have any effect on the outcome of a home pregnancy test? Like, if you were on the pill, and took a home pregnancy test, could it same 'pregnant' because of the hormones in the pill when you were not really pregnant?

When you are on the pill your body thinks you're preggers, and it doesn't release eggs, so I don't know if this would effect a test. Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!

Nope, birth control pills should not have an effect on a pregnancy test.

ALSO, there are no false positive results. If the test finds bhcg in the urine, you are pregnant because that's the only time it is there. However, a false negative can happen if there's not enough bhcg for the test to pick it up.

I agree. If it says you're prego, you're prego. If it says you're NOT prego, you could still be prego.

And yes, you HAVE TO TELL US! Is this question for YOU?! If you are prego, we need to celebrate! :)

Oh my goodness! Hannah! I had NO idea! I read your PM before I saw this post. You are not taking away from Jess's thread. She is on YT. You are on 4WT. We will be here to support you in whatever decision you make. How far along are you? Is the father your boyfriend who's in Canada? Do you have any idea what you will do?

Sorry I have so many questions! If you don't wanna talk about it right now, I completely understand. :) Just know that we are all here for you whenever you DO wanna talk. ;)

I don't even know where to start. I guess by, sorry, I must have been unclear about the way I worded something! I haven't taken the pregnancy test yet, and I hope I'm NOT pregnant. I was/am worried cause I've been feeling nausea, but I didn't know if it was the flu or something. Since I've gotten everyone so confused, I'll just explain the whole situation.

I've been off BC for a long time. My bf and I didn't use protection (sometimes) when he was visiting me last. We were 'careful', as careful as you can be in those circumstances. I went to the doc last week to get on BC again. Well she told me that I didn't have to wait for my next period to start taking them, so I started taking BC and I haven't had a period...yet (I hope it's coming). She said there may be break through bleeding, etc. Well, I have the home preg test, but I haven't taken it yet. So that's the whole story that was 'complicated' when I said that in my other post, and that's also the reason that I was asking about BC and preg test. So again, my apologies for confusing people. Thanks for listening!

The 'yes' was to 'am I asking about me', not to 'is there something I'm not telling'

Maybe that's were things got confusing! :o

GOOD LUCK, HANNAH!!!!!!!!!! Birth Control pills can be a funny thing when you start taking them. They make your body "feel" like it's pregnant. When I first started taking bc pills, I was nauseous ALL THE TIME! I'm not kidding. I would throw up at the same time every single day for the first couple of months I took them. I now know what morning sickness truly feels like. It's yucky! And bc pills can also sometimes be too strong for your body and make the effects worse...worse nausea and even missed periods. So, don't freak out yet. I would say take the test and just see what it says. It is very likely that your pills are making you feel this way.
