My Mother-in-law is going in for surgery today. She has had a hernia for years (it's huge!) and Sunday she was in awful pain with it. The dr thought that her small intestine was twisted and shut off. She's still in pain, not quite as bad, but she's going to have to do somethng about the hernia.

But there are complications, she had a heart attack years ago and has very little function of her heart and she's diabetic. The chances of her making it through the surgery are very slim. My husband's family is pretty good size and they are all very close so if she doesn't make it through the surgery it's going to be really hard on everyone. Please keep us in your prayers today. We'll be traveling to Wichita to be there for the surgery. Thanks so much for your friendship and your prayers. I'll try to keep you posted.

Thanks guys!! My husband just called and said that they're not going to do surgery today. Her hernia isn't as life-threatening as it was on Sunday and so the drs have decided to run some more tests and try and determine if her heart can handle going through the surgery. So we're not going out to Wichita today. We'll wait and see what the drs decide. Your prayers are really appreciated.

Well, today my husband called to check on her and she's being sent home. The hernia's not causing any more trouble and to have surgery, well, the dr said that if it was his mom, he wouldn't do it. It's very likely that she wouldn't survive. My sister-in-law is wanting her to go to Lincoln, Neb., and check with the drs up there. So right now it looks like the emergency is over and we'll end up dealing with this another day. Thanks for all your prayers. They are very much appreciated
